I'm all out of inspiration here. The grind is getting us all down, interspersed with terrorist attacks, but we shall overcome. In the meantime, there's gin and camaraderie.

@Lweji

But that all happened, there is videos unlike the anon sources CNN used in the stories they had to retract.

  1. CNN. It happens. They resigned. Unlike some that lie constantly. Yes, I mean Trump et Al.
  2. Comey. We don't know some of what he said. He wasn't investigating Trump and as far as he was concerned Trump wasn't personally being investigated until that point.
  3. A comment possibly taken out of context. I'd like to see the whole conversation. Still, the Russia thing may or may not be a real thing, but the current administration is acting incredibly suspicious. Just support the investigation if you have nothing to hide.
user1498665532 · 28/06/2017 23:42

@Lweji

How would you feel if CPS start to investigate you with for abuse with no proof but won't stop even when there is no links to anything, would you just take it and let them remove your kids cause you have nothing to hide.

Lweji · 28/06/2017 23:49

We don't know that there are no links.
There's loads of circumstantial evidence, though, which is why there's an investigation going on.

As for obstruction, it's not looking good for Trump.

TheClaws · 28/06/2017 23:59

User, I hate to trot out a cliché, but where there's smoke, there's fire. I would have thought that if there is nothing to the story:

  1. the IC wouldn't be wasting time and resources on it.
  2. those implicated, including Donald Trump, would want their names cleared as soon as possible, so would not be throwing roadblocks in the way of the intvestigations constantly.
  3. Additionally, those implicated would not further implicate themselves.

It's best to read widely from a range of sources. Don't trust just one or two. Eg., CNN retracted its story not because it was incorrect, but because it hadn't been fully verified and cleared - that is, gone through rigorous editorial process - before it was published. Breitbart won't tell you that.

SanFranBear · 29/06/2017 00:42

I think it's also worth noting that there have been closed sessions with James Comey where he will have been able to be more candid.

I just can't see it all as some sort of Fake News conspiracy - I really can't. The outburst by the journalist in the press room was very telling - he was having to defend the press for doing their jobs whilst constantly being told by the fucking White House that he and his colleagues are all liars. So the entire press corp, apart from the far right, are ganging up for some reason to make Scrotus look bad.. it just makes no sense. Why risk careers of decades? Why do that? It makes me so Angry A free press is vital for democracy - it's the first fucking amendment FFS!

AcrossthePond55 · 29/06/2017 01:13

With all the shit coming out of the Trump camp and the whirlwind of information/disinformation I'm not really surprised that some journos were either fed bullshit deliberately by the Trump camp to discredit them and CNN or that they picked up on some fake sources that 'felt' plausible to them and published without doing their due diligence.

It certainly doesn't negate what we already know, does it? Even if all we know are bits and pieces that haven't been tied together yet.

cozie I'm sure you're right about the Trump daughter comment. I guess my 'sarcasm-radar' wasn't working earlier today!

Max Bergmann @maxbergmann
I went back to the State Dept. this week for the first time since Jan 20th. It was incredibly depressing. American diplomacy is dying. 1.

State is being quickly gutted. Offices closing; Sr. and mid level career experts fleeing or being axed. The deconstruction is happening 2.
Reorg being done by isolated ideologues that know-nothing and have walled themselves off from the career staff that do. 3.
Little Congress can do to stop it. Tillerson is implementing the Admin massive budget cuts even though no budgetary reason to do so 4.
Idea that Tillerson running State like a business overlooks that most businesses fail. 5.
What business guts one of its most important and effective units at a time when it (the US) is experiencing unprecedented econ growth 6.
Tillerson is now clearly one of worst Sec States in American history. Few have done more to weaken America. Putin c/d not be happier 7.

I am finding it interesting we are starting to get the trumpers popping into the thread again. We haven't seen them about for a while. My thoughts ...

1: CNN made a mistake and did the right thing (actually I think they over reacted, but hey ho). I expect those crowing about it from the Trump side to be as loud at pushing for sacking of people promoting outright lies from the WH.

  1. People close to Trump who worked on his campaign team have clear links to Russia. Of course Trump will also therefore need to be investigated just as if my employee was involved in fraud while reporting to me I would expect my role in that to be looked at, innocent or not.
  1. Sacking the person responsible for that investigation and then saying you have sacked them because of the Russian stuff does not create an aura of innocence.
  1. Russia is just a single reason to think Trump is not capable or suitable to be President. Even if Russia was a "big nothing burger" I can't see that anyone would be going "oh well then, I'll get out my Make America Great Again hat and start setting up my Trump shrine" Hmm
BiglyBadgers · 29/06/2017 07:57

To be a bit clearer...Russia is just a single reason of many, many reasons...

GingerPCatt · 29/06/2017 08:03

(fist-bump) BiglyBadgers very well said!

Lweji · 29/06/2017 09:09

It's like buses. You wait for a Trumpette for a long time and then two show up at the same time.

I have a few questions for them.
Are you happy with a health care bill that rewards rich people and leaves the less well off without healthcare?

Are you happy with the constant 180o turns?

Is that same healthcare bill great or mean?

Are you happy that only swamp people, Wall Street people and Goldman Sachs people have been chosen for the Administration?

Are you happy that Trump is making money out of the Presidency?

Are you happy that he's golfing more than presidenting?

Are you happy that he's made the US a laughing stock around the world? (He is, you know?)

Are you happy that he's removing the US from the forefront of innovation and commerce?

Are you happy that his law changes benefit his businesses? As well as big money interests?

Are you happy that he wants to allow major corporations to pollute your air and water?

Are you happy that he wants to allow the conditions for the next financial crisis, again?

If you are, then congratulations. You deserve eachother.

Lweji · 29/06/2017 09:18

A couple more.

Are you happy with keeping a new law secret until voting?
Are you happy that Congress is not reading laws before voting for them?

Are you happy with the waste of tax payers money on constant Mar-a-Lago and other trips? Part of the cost reverts to line Trump's pockets.

Are you happy with the relatives and clearly unprepared people being given key administration jobs?
