It's too hot for high drama, but nonetheless we persist (Trump cont.)

I'm all out of inspiration here. The grind is getting us all down, interspersed with terrorist attacks, but we shall overcome. In the meantime, there's gin and camaraderie.

I guess that 45 is planning the cake as we speak. Wink

Someone is troubled...

But the real question is, why hasn't Trump do anything since? Normal President to President handovers should mean that the following President should make the decisions that will affect their own presidency. It's not good practice to leave the country in a state of quasi-war for the next President to handle.

So, Obama left the tools ready for Trump. Trump chose not to use them. Why?
Obama also left the investigation running. Trump has chosen to ignore it and has tried to shut it down. Why?

I expect more and more rants.

Meeting Putin should be normal. Considering what's going on, it should not be in private, though.

How many ice cream scoops is what worries me. Putin won't like having only one if Trump has 2.

“Well I just heard today for the first time that Obama knew about Russia a long time before the election, and he did nothing about it. But nobody wants to talk about that. The CIA gave him information on Russia a long time before they even – before the election…. It’s an amazing thing. To me – in other words, the question is, if he had the information, why didn’t he do something about it? He should have done something about it. But you don’t read that. It’s quite sad.”

Trump's been briefed about this (as per Comey's testimony etc) and as would be expected for the POTUS but he's still maintaining the facade that he is briefed by the news and not the several varied intelligence agencies that all answer to him. Don't suppose we'll get any answers any time soon.

The CBO scoring of the revised Trumpcare could, apparently, come as early as today?

Natsku · 26/06/2017 15:36

In Lithuania, 100 citizen cyber-sleuths dubbed “elves” link up digitally to identify and beat back the people employed on social media to spread Russian disinformation. They call the daily skirmishes “Elves vs. Trolls.”

Love it!

Sorry. Wittes, I meant.

SanFranBear · 26/06/2017 15:56

What is that rant all about... he has no dignity or class.

You won.. you really did - get over it, get a hold on what your many intelligent intelligence communities are telling you and either start running your country without a million pointless soundbites or just resign.

And a strongly worded blog here about why Personal Responsibility is such a crock of shit:

SCOTUS have partially lifted the travel ban?

cozietoesie · 26/06/2017 16:11

Sorry. Partially lifted the injunction on........

Natsku · 26/06/2017 16:13

Urgh hate the whole 'personal responsibility' spiel, its a load of crap - anyone can get ill, anyone can end up in poverty unexpectedly, anyone can end up with their life fucked up through no fault of their own, nevermind the fact that many people, like the child in that article, are born with much greater needs through no fault of their own (or their parents, though I suspect Pence et al. would blame the parents somehow).

Yes, I noticed the Wittes tweets and the ripple they caused. Wink

Looks like the 'leaning towards no' list on healthcare is getting longer.

Meanwhile, our esteemed leader has found a way to stagger on with the DUP at her back.

PerkingFaintly · 26/06/2017 16:36

Aha! Thank you for reposting that piece about Finland, Natsku.

I was looking for it again recently to send to a friend, but I've bookmarked so much from these threads I couldn't find it!

Took me bloody ages to search for it because I forgot to bookmark it before! Had to hunt from many many Russia related news articles (including lots of the disinformation mentioned in the article)

lionheart · 26/06/2017 17:09

Thanks Natsku--it's well worth reading.

Striking that the article highlights a 'combination of widespread critical thinking skills among the Finnish population and a coherent government response,' as vital to the fightback.
