Dd2 came home today and said the head had lost it and ranted at them calling them 'antisocial low life scum' ! Am I overreacting to think this is totally unexceptable?

OP posts:
takeaweeseat · 16/06/2017 21:59

I agree with him.

SmileEachDay · 16/06/2017 22:00

Oops, sorry Rebel - you have a minimally similar username to another poster who was talking about odd sandwich fillings Grin

TeenAndTween · 16/06/2017 22:01

There is a poster on the GCSEs thread who's DS was interrupted during one of their exams this week by an antisocial peer setting off the fire alarm. I think under the circumstances of exams and everything else this week the HT was pretty restrained.

SmileEachDay · 16/06/2017 22:01

Actually, it's not even minimally similar. It just starts with R.

I am absolutely fed up of people covering for teachers for no other reason than that they are teachers. If this is what was said, and it hasn't fallen prey to Chinese whispers, then it is beyond unacceptable.

Would it be ok if a doctor said it, or a politician, what about a hairdresser or an estate agent? We are all stressed!

ThymeLord · 16/06/2017 22:01

I agree with the HT to be honest. Also the idea that a 13 year old hasn't heard the word scum is frankly laughable.

RebelRogue · 16/06/2017 22:02

@SmileEachDay oh right fair enough. I was thoroughly confused. Sounded like a telling off that I didn't get GrinGrinGrin

WorraLiberty · 16/06/2017 22:03

Oh well at least she's learned a new word.

Silver lining and all that.

SmileEachDay · 16/06/2017 22:04

Your commitment to literacy is commendable Worra

MaisyPops · 16/06/2017 22:04

It's like a colleague of mine got told off for calling a child a stupid idiot. They didn't. The student was messing on like a very fussy primary kid and the teacher said 'stop acting like an idiot. That's the sort of stupid behaviour I'd expect to see in infants'

Very different message.

I doubt the head actually said it.

LargeGlassofRed · 16/06/2017 22:07

I've emailed school and will post again when I get a response, I've told you what I know and that's it. Beiieve it or don't believe it but I believe dd2.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 16/06/2017 22:08

What have you written in the email?

WorraLiberty · 16/06/2017 22:08

Next week the year 8s will be called anti-social Fopdoodles.

And yes, that is a real word Grin

VladmirsPoutine · 16/06/2017 22:11

but I believe dd2

Really!? I genuinely didn't see that coming!

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 16/06/2017 22:11

I'd normally think the HT was being rather OTT, but in light of what happened on Wednesday, I'd say he was pretty restrained.

SmileEachDay · 16/06/2017 22:13

What does dd2 say happened though?

Because so far we have:

Deliberate setting off of alarm
Students evacuated
Head bellowing that y8&9 girls are antisocial scum

Or did I miss something?

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 16/06/2017 22:14

It may well be true and no wonder the Ht was cheesed off

Apparently the new head at the school told a full school assembly that they looked like sacks of spuds in their uniform

He hadnt...but thats what got reported back

TeenAndTween · 16/06/2017 22:14

You've emailed the school? Shock Really?

This head teacher is guiding their school through GCSEs, school funding cuts, changes to curriculum and who knows what else.

An idiot pupil who is 16 / nearly 16 so should know better, sets off a fire alarm in this week of all weeks, and causes disruption to the whole school (which at our school would be over 1000 people), and the HT reportedly used some offensive language to/about them, and you think the HT now needs to uses their valuable time to deal with you winging about it? Wow.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 16/06/2017 22:15

Oh do come back and update OP. I can't wait Grin

RebelRogue · 16/06/2017 22:17

But what exactly do you believe because this makes no sense?
Y11 sets off fire alarm.
Head bellows at y8&9 girls(only) and calls them scum.
Said girls were showing off for y11's.
There was also a fire drill going on.

TeenAndTween · 16/06/2017 22:28

Oh, I see. He shouted at the y8/9s who where mucking about during a fire drill that wasn't actually a planned drill but one that a y11 instigated.
That makes it all fine for you to email then. Not.

FrogsLegs31 · 16/06/2017 22:31

I'm just surprised at how many people are clutching their pearls over the word "scum" Grin

The yr7s have smartphones and are all talking filth on their Snapchat and following semi naked celebrities instagram feeds. The playground is full of the ringing sounds of the F word whenever they think you aren't around.

But the OP thinks her DD has never heard the word "scum" lol!!!

BoneyBackJefferson · 16/06/2017 22:32

SmileEachDay

Something about the year 8 and 9 girls "showing off" to the leaving year 11s.

The OP knows enough about that but not enough to say what the messing around during a suspected fire was.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/06/2017 22:34

HT was bang out of line. Regardless of what she was doing or saying.
However she is human and for your dd to have got her to that point. I think you need to establish what's going on.
Also Im sorry but I don't believe that she's never heard the word scum. Unless she lives in a bubble.
