One final box that had been in his mum's spare room for donkeys years. It contained a lava lamp. He has put it on his bedside table, in our previously beautiful, immaculate, un-tainted by 90's shit, nautical-style bedroom. Also in the box was a special edition DVD of Highlander, a tartan cummerbund that doesn't fit around his dad bod anymore and more than 50 beer mats from various dives pubs around the country. AIBU to ask what bizarre/horrific/inexplicable shit stuff your DP brought when he moved in?

185 airfix kits still in their boxes. That was 14 years ago and three moves later, they're still here Angry

We have hundreds and hundreds of CDs that will never be played, a horses head, a box that contains 'festival stuff' and two left handed guitars, which would be nice if he played guitar, but he doesn't (and I am not left handed).

KentMum2008 · 15/06/2017 23:04

I tried to hint that the lava lamp wasn't welcome in the bedroom, and perhaps he could use it in the shed. Didn't go down well.....

A framed Guiness mirror Shock

Seren85 · 15/06/2017 23:12

A box of his own baby clothes! I should clarify that his Mum actually packed up anything left behind that he'd ever so much as looked at and brought it round here. You'd think that if she'd kept them for sentimental reasons then she would want to actually keep them! Also a collection of McDonald's Happy Meal muppet toys, box of WWE wrestling figures....he throws nothing away!

KentMum2008 · 15/06/2017 23:16

Hedda did he insist on hanging it in the house? DP has a signed, framed Liverpool shirt I've permanently stored in the shed...

Similar to Marvin. Boxes of models he'll never make and most of the boxes have come apart with age and some of the model parts went up the vacuum cleanerhave fallen out.
Then there are the weird board games that no one has ever heard of. He gets one out occasionally and reads all the rules but never plays them. Some of the pieces have gone the same way as model parts.
They are "collectors items".

KentMum2008 · 15/06/2017 23:23

Ah yes, 'collectors items'. The lava lamp is 'retro' apparently. Fucks sake....

Sorry - are we all just going to ignore a horse's head?? Is he in the mafia? 😂

Mariah123 · 15/06/2017 23:25

10000 football trophies from about age 9-15 Hmm

KentMum2008 · 15/06/2017 23:25

Haha, I missed that one. Fake is it a real horses head? Hmm

Twat.

NC4now · 15/06/2017 23:28

The Star Wars collection. He kept that quiet. He's bloody obsessed!

Ofalltheginjoints · 15/06/2017 23:31

Lego, an unbelievable amount of Lego....

Ofalltheginjoints · 15/06/2017 23:32

In fairness I did know about it before but still

A sad looking, limp, white plastic Christmas tree with flashing blue lights.
A large number of nests of tiny tables.

A box with his milk teeth in it - the entire set that his mum had saved.

Sadly only discovered when we did a loft conversion after having lived together for 12 years - now I know why he used to offer to get everything from the loft.

Surely I win the thread?!

PeaFaceMcgee · 15/06/2017 23:37

A Gordon the Gopher!

Twofurrycats · 15/06/2017 23:37

Boxes of assorted crap. At least I assume that's what it was! The boxes went from his mother's to a flat to mine then out again. And were never opened. In nineteen years. When he moved out he was going to leave them 'to be collected later'. Not a chance. I had the removal men up in the loft asap. Still don't know if he's gone through them 3 years on......

I love this thread...

6 guitars which take up most of the dining room, are never played but he refuses to store or get rid.

A bloody metal futon from the 90's in our spare room that he tried to pawn off as an acceptable sofa for the living room.

So many xbox games.

Now that he's older and wiser he tends to collect spices and buys things like window vacs.

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 15/06/2017 23:49

A hideous pair of Jesus sandals.
Original I think. .

From the man himself by the old smell. .

About 20 sets of car wheels.
