watching Question Time, feeling pissed off and depressed. Finding Baroness Chakrabarti utterly awful, and Oakshott, who I know I SHOULD dislike, great.

MrsJoyOdell · 09/06/2017 22:34

Oakeshott was utterly vile. Rude, disingenuous, nasty. Couldn't answer anything without insulting other people before beginning.
I wanted to punch the smug look off her face. Daily Mail 🤢

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 09/06/2017 22:34

Urgh. YABU. She (Oakeshott) made me want to throw something at the TV.

Nettletheelf · 09/06/2017 22:36

Actually I was quite glad she was on the panel. Otherwise it would have been unpleasantly unbalanced.

Irrespective of how I and other posters on this thread voted, I felt quite sorry for Chris Grayling: felt like he was just there to be shot at by the other panellists. I bet nobody from the Tories wanted that job. At least having Oakeshott there provided a bit of balance! I thought that Shami Chakrabarti fought quite dirty, actually.

I was only previously aware of Oakeshott through her involvement in the Vicky Pryce/Chris Huhne case.

ChestnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 09/06/2017 22:36

She has terrible hair extensions .

LouiseBrooks · 09/06/2017 22:37

Inglourious me too. If I was Shami I'd have wanted to thump her.

YoullNeverWeeAlone · 09/06/2017 22:42

Didn't see it, but once heard IO on Radio 4 and had to Google her for friend who was driving to find out "who is this utter twat on the radio?".

So can't imagine I'd agree with you OP. She struck me as vacuous, self-satisfied and a lot less insightful and interesting than she thinks she is. But politically, IO and I fundamentally disagree so that isn't going to be an unbiased opinion.

Wonderflonium · 09/06/2017 22:43

I couldn't understand why SC kept rising to IO's bait though. AC managed to rise above it and make IO look stupid but SC was flustered when she didn't need to be.

Dawnedlightly · 09/06/2017 22:44

IO was utterly charmless- real meangirl vibe.

DonaldStott · 09/06/2017 22:47

IO was like a spoiled teenager. She was getting on my nerves. It felt like she was going to say 'oh Alistair whatevs, loser'

RainbowPastel · 09/06/2017 22:48

She came across as a rude obnoxious toddler. Typical Tory with the name calling.

ChampagneSocialist1 · 09/06/2017 22:57

IO was political editor for the Times. I couldn't say she is not well informed.
Liked the lady who asked SC about anti-semitism in the Labour Party and referred to her as "Baroness Chakrabarti" - ouch!

BreezyBreeze · 09/06/2017 23:01

Oakeshott was like a petulant princess. Yuck.

Campbell and Ianucci came across well.

Ricekrispiecakes · 10/06/2017 08:59

When I was watching I looked at Isabel Oakeshot and thought "who is this nasty, rude, arrogant, petulant little shit". Cut price Katie Hopkins is about right.

Although the Labour MP seemed to get unnecessarily riled by her when she could have rose above it.

ElsieMc · 10/06/2017 09:27

Wow, I thought she was horrible. Mind you, it was a change to see someone stand up to Alistair Campbell, she really doesn't give a dam does she? Chakrabati cold as hell.

I enjoyed Alistair Campbell and very strangely Chris Grayling. Enjoyed even more the double act of George Osborne and Ed Balls on Thursday eve/Friday morning. Take a look at Osbornes smirk. He made Ed look lovely and cuddly.

GherkinSnatch · 10/06/2017 09:30

I love Ed Balls anyway. Ed Miliband too - since he got his own twitter back he comes across as so much more likeable.

Oakeshott was awful - petulant teenager indeed.

catgirl1976 · 10/06/2017 09:30

YABU. Are you on glue?

lucydogz · 10/06/2017 09:38

OK , obviously most posters disagree with me. Fair enough. But to ask someone if they're on glue because you disagree with them? How does that work?

OP posts:
user1495915742 · 10/06/2017 09:46

Did anyone agree with you, op? You seem to be in the minority so yes, YABU.

The80sweregreat · 10/06/2017 09:49

It was a cold line up, but Chris Grayling did well considering what had happened. I dont normally like Tory MPs but he is one of the better ones. Senior Tories were thin on the ground yesterday.

IO was rude, Chakrabati is odd.
I always think people seem more themselves on QT for some reason but it does turn into a bun fight at times.

Argeles · 10/06/2017 09:56

I didn't watch the programme, but I absolutely hate Chakrabarti and always have done. I find her to be an obnoxious and odious.

I only know of one person in real life who likes her, and they are a jumped up little shit stirrer too.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 10/06/2017 10:04

I don't think either of them have any warmth or empathy, they very clearly inhabit a different world to the majority of the electorate. I'm amazed to find myself liking Alastair Campbell more and more every time I see him, and I loathed the Blair government. I wonder if he's mellowed and become less confrontational or if he just seems it by the standards of today, where the likes of Katie Hopkins are paid to be vile?

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 10/06/2017 10:12

English I agree with everything you said re Campbell. Dh and were quite perplexed that we warned to him. Along with Blair I used to switch over if he was ever in TV.
Fans of "In The Thick Of It", did any of you find it hilarious that Campbell was in the same room as Armando? I wonder how they react to each other- I'd love to be a fly on the wall.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 10/06/2017 10:19

Oh yes, I suspect AC wouldn't be at all bothered, his ego's big enough to enjoy it and consider it a compliment.

Ceto · 10/06/2017 10:28

Seriously? Unless you have opinions like Oakshott's - in which case shame on you - how could you possibly find her remotely likeable? And it's not just her opinions, her manner is arrogant and obnoxious. Whereas I like the fact that Chakrabarti clearly knows what she's talking about and is able to discuss it calmly and logically.

ForalltheSaints · 10/06/2017 10:29

In terms of the programme I thought Shami Chakrabati came across better. However, her part in the whitewash over anti-semitism by too many Labour party members is something I still remember.
