This is the best outcome by miles. No hard brexit. (The city now predicts soft Brexit or even no Brexit!!!) No more crazy ideas by either side. Compromise. Tories given a good slap in the face for this stupid election.

This is the first election day in a long time with a good result!

Here's pink new' s version of the DUP Party Political Broadcast

Rather than trawling through Corbyns past discretion I would rather look at the terrorist bigots that are holding the balance if power in our government today cos you know it's actually quite important

Sostenueto · 10/06/2017 09:33

Hear! Hear! Shoes!

Scandelicious · 10/06/2017 09:33

No idea what you're talking about sostenuto, I think you should go back to bed

Sostenueto · 10/06/2017 09:34

Lol. Scandelicious you should feel really at home withe DUP!Grin

Scandelicious · 10/06/2017 09:36

You know, it's perfectly possible to defeat Corbyn for what he has said and done AND dislike what the DUP stand for.

Hating Corbyn for his disgusting past doesn't make you a Tory. Quite the opposite, I've voted labour in the past but won't touch them with a barge pole while they have someone like Corbyn in charge.

Even if May leaves, she'll be replaced with another Tory leader. Labour didn't win.

Scandelicious · 10/06/2017 09:37

Not defeat Corbyn, detest Corbyn

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 10/06/2017 09:39

Exactly Corbyn isn't in power. DUP s. Why not worry about them trying to reduce LGBT rights or abortion rights or any of the other rabid RW bible bashing shit they spout.

NoLoveofMine · 10/06/2017 09:41

As many feared, it has been indicated this morning there will be a vote on lowering the time limit for abortion. The fact this is even being discussed shows choice is already under threat.

Sostenueto · 10/06/2017 09:42

Well scandal you have said your piece same as I have now give it a rest and take a long hard look at yourself and all of your faults making sure you correct them before resuming your venom on JC.

Scandelicious · 10/06/2017 09:43

I do worry about the DUP but also am angry that the Labour Party has been hijacked like this. Would love to see them regroup with a solid centrist leader who can lead through a broad consensus. The Labour Party should have won this election!! It was theirs for the taking.

ShoesHaveSouls · 10/06/2017 09:52

I'm very concerned that TM has got into bed with the DUP.

Alistair Campbell (who I'm no particular fan of, but I respect his opinion) said on QT last night that DUP are hard, tough negotiators - and will sense in TM a person who backs down. This is worrying.

I would also hope that any threat to our current abortion rights would be voted down by Parliament - as they were in 2011/2012 - when Nadine Dorries tried to reduce/restrict it.

But yes - v worrying.

birdsdestiny · 10/06/2017 09:53

Or maybe those who know nothing about corbyn could even open their mind for one minute to those of us from the labour party who have known of him and his gang for 20 plus years and who are saying no. But no, no questioning is allowed.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 10/06/2017 09:55

The DUP has never felt the wrath of a mainland anti DUP womens march. Yet.....I feel...it will soon

ShoesHaveSouls · 10/06/2017 09:58

Yeah - I'd march against that. Misogynistic bastards.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2017 10:00

You can protest today, 12pm Parliament square.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 10/06/2017 10:00

I am not a Corbyn supporter. Voted for Owen campsined and have been very very vocal about my opposition. I dont want him as PM but I was out voted in the party and it could potentially happen if there is a GE. His position in the party is now teflon

BUT we are where we are. Short term and currently the DUP is a big threat. Hard brexit is a big threat. Who takes over from May is a huge concern

metalmum15 · 10/06/2017 10:02

It has been indicated there will be a vote on lowering the time limit on abortion

This has actually been discussed a lot in recent months anyway. It's now thought that 24 weeks is too late, as statistics are showing more and more babies born at 23 weeks and over are surviving because of excellent care. Most MPs want the limit lowered to 20 weeks. A few years ago Jeremy Hunt wanted it lowered to 12 weeks but nobody agreed with him and i think he eventually shut up about it.

I have just signed petition against the Tories joint rule with DUP. Its on petition site can't do link its 500k strong now. Advise all to sign if you don't want DUP to have power.

Sostenueto · 10/06/2017 12:10

There will no longer be a hard brexit, the electorate voted against that on the 8th.

Agree tiggytape

I think that's what we will be offered on a take it or leave it basis and we will have to take it as both parties are saying they will respect the leave vote - the clock is ticking.

PerkingFaintly · 10/06/2017 13:04

Yet in the actual Referendum, only 52% of voters voted to leave the EU at all, never mind end freedom of movement.

In a General Election, people are voting for a mixed bag of things they like and dislike about any given party's offer (right down to personality of the leader).

It's dishonest to pretend the General Election is a referendum on a subset of a referendum.

PerkingFaintly · 10/06/2017 13:09

And in fact I remember having a very similar conversation just after the last GE, with a poster who claimed that Tory victory was a statement of support for his single issue, viz austerity.

He had to be reminded that for other voters, EU membership might exist as an issue at all.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 10/06/2017 13:16

The chances of a soft Brexit are increased.

Both the DUP and Ruth Davidson want it. The Tories in Westminster really can't afford to alienate Davidson. They need her to keep Tory support alive in Scotland.
