This is the best outcome by miles. No hard brexit. (The city now predicts soft Brexit or even no Brexit!!!) No more crazy ideas by either side. Compromise. Tories given a good slap in the face for this stupid election.

This is the first election day in a long time with a good result!

Mulled im not having a go at all. Grateful for your reply. Just very perturbed.

NoLoveofMine · 09/06/2017 12:19

I didn't think Kensington had declared yet?

Lweji · 09/06/2017 12:19

I think she might need to sew up her deal with the DUP first.

Will most Tory MPs be happy about such an alliance?

peterpancollar · 09/06/2017 12:20

I'm not optimisitic of a soft Brexit with a hung government. The EU will not be negotiating over the freedom of movement. As a centrist Remainer, I find it utterly depressing that the young did not vote in more numbers for the Liberal Democrats if they did indeed want to stop Brexit in its tracks.

And no, we can't forget about Brexit - the outcome overwhelmingly affects our economy which basically pays for everything else, social care (ageing population so increasing expenditure on pensions, etc), NHS, schools and all public services that have been subject to soundbites in the election campaign.

Uncertainty breeds instability. Yes, the markets are reacting unfavourably and this will be part of a global downturn. I believe we will be losing more jobs as we lose overseas investment. My UK employer has been taken over by an American company in the last 12 mths. (sterling drop was a significant factor). The future isn't looking bright for our UK factory with Brexit looming - they are looking at contract manufacturers in Eastern Europe. Sterling dropping doesn't help if you are sourcing more expensive parts from the rest of the world. Manufacturing standards will be a massive issue going forwards - we will have to still comply with EU standards if we want to continue to export to them albeit with more unfavourable tariffs. We are turkeys voting for Christmas!

Kensington and Chelsea declared Labour, so they are all counted.

Are you sure Chardonnay? It was meant to be suspended until 6pm.

"Just over 290k people. Not all the people."

SDLP, no seats. UUP, no seats. The people of NI have spoken. Your complaint would be just the same as a UKIP supporters.

Wormulonian · 09/06/2017 12:22

I think the DUP have said they don't need a formal coalition and will support the Tories on votes on "confidence" issues(votes of no confidence in TM/Tories) in order to keep them in government.( I daresay their vote will come at a price though)

LakieLady · 09/06/2017 12:22

Not a Corbyn fan - (he is OK but I don't want him for PM.) But I wouldn't blame him for Brexit! That was Cameron's fault, for not dealing with immigration like he said he would.

And who was the minister responsible for immigration? Let me think ... it was a woman ... Teresa someone?

Between the two of them, they have fucked up the Tories so massively they must all be walking bandylegged.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/06/2017 12:22

Oh sorry, seems I have been spreading some fake news.

No, haven't declared yet.

Ravenblack · 09/06/2017 12:22

I just read on facebook that Kensington just announced LABOUR won.

But I can't find it anywhere else.

So I'm confused.

NoLoveofMine · 09/06/2017 12:23

Kensington recount commencing later on today. Too close to call.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/06/2017 12:23

I heard it on the james O'Brien show.

Serves me right for listening to him....

Dandandandandandandan · 09/06/2017 12:23

I saw it on twitter, I'm sure I did. Now they're just saying need another recount because the Tories won't concede?

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 09/06/2017 12:24

They have had 2 counts and so far 30 to 40 votes to Labour. But recount will be held later today. So very possible Labour but not declared

MrsLupo · 09/06/2017 12:24

Oh, ok, I'll stop getting excited then!

Rinoachicken · 09/06/2017 12:25

Kensington is recounting for a third time at 6pm (counters need a break understandably). It's very close, around 35 votes in it.

Carolinesbeanies · 09/06/2017 12:26

"Corbyn could then be invited to do his best to form a majority that can get a budget through Parliament without being voted down."

And this is where the Corbyn farce falls foul. 75% of sitting Labour MPs, didnt want Corbyn as leader, and dont agree with his stance. Hed have a huge mountain to climb getting support from his own party, never mind then negotiating support from opposition.

I am quite sure the PLP will soften its stance towards Corbyn if there are cabinet posts on offer. Their issue was always self-interest. Now they know he is electable, the conversation will change dramatically.

LakieLady · 09/06/2017 12:34

That was when they thought he couldn't win anything. Now the careerist, Blairite right-wing of the Labour party have seen how popular he is, they'll be falling over themselves to get into his good books.

I'll be Labour till the day I die, but I'm under no illusions about what a bunch of turncoats the centrists can be.

Jng1 · 09/06/2017 12:35

TM's already on her way to the palace...

"Bit of a hiccup, Ma'am, nothing to worry about really... will just need to chat to the DUP a bit more. OK?"

"Very well, carry on. Business as usual. Oh, and Theresa, can you see if there's some other way to get rid of that irritating little Republican and his friends...?
Nice shoes, by the way..."

BringMeTea · 09/06/2017 12:36

Lakielady I couldn't agree more about the careerist Blairites. They should be ashamed of themselves.

user1489614864 · 09/06/2017 12:41

Haven't rtft but it means a DUP coalition with the Tories with the potential of Johnson as the new PM. It's actually the worst possible outcome. It also makes a laugh out of the outrage at Corbyn's supposed support for the IRA. The DUP have strong and proven links with the UDA among other select groups who have been responsible for 1000s of murders on the island of Ireland. So now there will be terrorist supporters as part of the UK government. It's not good.
