Reducing Spliff Smells

{reposting from Chat for traffic}

I like to smoke some weed when I'm doing really boring things. I have no worries about this but I think my neighbours can smell it which I think is unfair on them. I would rather smoke hash which is less whiffy but it seems unavailable now

Does anyone have any practical recommendations - beyond the obvious 'stop smoking' - so that I can smoke a spliff in my home without fearing the waft factor?

vape it instead. It smells a LOT less

Lots of fresh air. Can you smoke outside?

Or how about a pipe, just do away with the tobacco (which is the worst thing about spliffs imho)

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 09/06/2017 07:33

Nobody says hash or whiffy any more... you live under a bridge right?

People will be able to smell it half way up the street. I don't know if there is a way to disguise the smell?

MissBax · 09/06/2017 07:43

People are so touchy, it's one of the least offensive smells that come from neighbours imo. Cigarettes are way worse, and many cooking smells!
Are you smoking indoor or out?

balence49 · 09/06/2017 08:00

Incense, candles, air freshener
mopping regularly with smelly flash etc,
lots of airing out/ windows and doors open when not smoking,
Peppermint oil
Wash towels with lots of fabric softener and put to dry on radiators
bleach and kettle of boiling water down sink,
Cook smelly food at the same time

If too paranoid for that... go for a walk

kaytee87 · 09/06/2017 08:22

You can't disguise the smell, it fucking stinks.

Quartz2208 · 09/06/2017 08:29

It's not an inoffensive smell. The teenage boy next door smokes a lot and sometimes the smell is overpowering in dd room, in the bathroom next door and in the conservatory. You can smell it all the way gown the back of the garden. We have had to move dd fro her room a few times as the amount was toxic

He has cut back recently though thinking about it

EeekWhat · 09/06/2017 09:02

I find it a really unpleasant smell that lingers around for ages. I'd suggest windows open and fans. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Palomb · 09/06/2017 09:08

I have absolutely no problem with people smoking weed and thing all drugs should be legalised but weed absolutely reeks and I'd be pissed off if I had to smell it all the time.

I'm a housing advisor and we get SO MANY complaints about neighbours drugs smells. There's fuck all we can do about it.

QuiteLikely5 · 09/06/2017 09:10

Weed seeps through walls! It's gross cab you not smoke it outside??

angryladyboobs · 09/06/2017 09:11

Don't smoke it

KittysMyName · 09/06/2017 09:16

Are you seriously asking for help on doing something illegal? FFS people will be asking for tips on cleaning crack pipes next and the best way to steal a car! Confused

MephistophelesApprentice · 09/06/2017 09:18

Best to go for a walk, or smoke it in the garden. Best place I've found was the roof of our extension - It blows up and away before it can get up anyone elses nose.

Indoors, there really isn't much that can be done. Vaporiser is probably the best way to go, but even that isn't perfect.

StereophonicallyChallenged · 09/06/2017 09:19

Meh, smoke it outside.

thistlewine · 09/06/2017 09:33

Yea because smoking the odd spliff is the equivalent of being a crack addict or stealing cars Hmm

AliceThrewTheFookingGlass · 09/06/2017 09:44

She can't smoke it outside! If the entire neighbourhood will apparently be able to smell her smoking it in her house then the whole fucking city will reek of it if she blew it directly into the wind.

KittysMyName · 09/06/2017 09:50

Thistlewine I'm not saying it's the same thing, merely pointing out it's illegal and i don't think asking for advice on illegal activity should be ok!

MissCherryCakeyBun · 09/06/2017 10:16

I almost spat my coffee over my phone at the self-righteous indignation being shown about the OP smoking dope. Let go of the pearls ladies and read the thread.....the OP is not in the UK.

In many states in the US its legal. What would the government do with an extra $200 million in tax income ( and that's just Colorado states tax income in 1 year) www.marketwatch.com/story/marijuana-tax-revenue-hit-200-million-in-colorado-as-sales-pass-1-billion-2017-02-10

Oh and overall crime rates have dropped by heading towards 3% following this move in Colorado.

So stop moaning and pearl clutching and start reading the facts.

Ps OP it's worth looking at different strains of Weed as the smell lingers a lot more with some over others this guy may have more information he is based in California

MissCherryCakeyBun · 09/06/2017 10:16

Fabric conditioner in bowls, one in each area you smoke. You're welcome :)

amusedbush · 09/06/2017 11:00

I wish my neighbour would take steps to get rid of the smell, I feel like I live next door to Snoop Dogg Envy

tiba · 09/06/2017 11:12

misscherry the difference being that when something is legal it has to pass certain safety checks and meet those minimum requirement set by the law.

It is unlikely that in England where drugs are illegal that you get anything that is controlled.

The stuff you can buy now is strong and often laced.

My exh along with countless other friends I've known have smoked regularly since they were 16 and most of which either suffer from insomnia, and other psychotic episodes and many have needed additional help.
Most of the time it ends in paranoia.

A friend who is now in his mid 30's and hasn't smoked for a good 5-8 years or so still is paranoid and doesn't sleep
