Diane Abbott replaced: Ill health?

PizzaPower · 07/06/2017 09:36

So she's gone, is it really ill health, or do they think she is a massive liability and a vote looser?

OP posts:
AnnieAnoniMouse · 07/06/2017 10:09

She denies she's ill.

If she was s I'll she should admit it, even if she doesn't want to discuss the details.

If not, then people need to stop using 'illness' as an excuse for her diabolical interviews.

As for people being racist, don't make me laugh. SHE is racist & she has always hidden behind the 'people pick on me because of my colour' crap to try to deflect from her lack of ability.

TheHiphopopotamus · 07/06/2017 10:09

Jesus Christ. Since when did telling the truth about someone become a 'smear'?

SerfTerf · 07/06/2017 10:09

"I am not sure what colour I can add. I've always enjoyed good health until the last few years. And Diabetes, in itself, would not stop me doing Woman's Hour.
"I am worried about telling untruths about my health which are easily disproved"

It still seems likely to me that she's less fully well than she realises.

But she's unaware of any major issue so we don't need to worry about her.

I can't stand the woman, she's a moron and a racist, but certainly don't wish her ill health etc. I hope she recovers swiftly from whatever it is that ails her.

This. With any luck she'll stand down from politics completely after this.

SerfTerf · 07/06/2017 10:15

Can anyone PLEASE tell me what either her own racist views OR the "racist and misogynistic smears" against her are? Preferably both.

I remember one tweet she posted a few years back (and quickly deleted) along the lines of "All white people think....". That was obviously a bit questionable and got coverage. Other than that, I'm in the dark.

Maudlinmaud · 07/06/2017 10:17

From the Murnaghan interview.

Is it true that Jeremy Corbyn and John Mcdonalds team have been trying to keep you off the airwaves?

They said you book your own appearances and don't run them through the leaders office.

The two Js regard you as a liability.

Excruciating.

makeourfuture · 07/06/2017 10:18

Give her credit for stepping aside.

Theresa May, on-on-the-other-hand, cuts police resources to the bone....for years and years. Leaves us vulnerable.

Then decides, when the inevitable happens....to attack rights of the citizens.

Step down Theresa!

BartholinsSister · 07/06/2017 10:19

Perhaps she's changing sides.

NoLotteryWinYet · 07/06/2017 10:20

i think the Abbott debate should be shelved - we'll not get to the bottom of it, she's stepped aside and we should re-focus on all the (many) other policy and competence based reasons for rejecting the offer.

DH and I were consoling ourselves this morning that whoever wins this election, the Brexit backlash will mean they're out in 5 years or less and hopefully we'll have some better choices then.

BadTasteFlump · 07/06/2017 10:20

Of course she's a massive liability - but there are still enough massive liabilities on the LP to prevent them getting into power anytime soon. I say that as an ex-Labour supporter.

I wouldn't wish illness on her but it's kind of irrelevant I think - she had to go.

CypriotDonkey · 07/06/2017 10:23

Too little too late, its no good getting rid of her the day before polling day! She should have been given the elbow weeks ago!

QuiteLikely5 · 07/06/2017 10:24

So should Jeremy but he's still here he's absolute rubbish and made plenty of crushingly embarrassing mistakes in public. Totally discredited the LAbour Party and made them such a laughing stock that at one point I believed the Tories planted him!

Zampa · 07/06/2017 10:24

With regards to the "smears" against her, I do think criticism about her mistakes have been given more press coverage than similar catastrophic errors made by Boris and his ilk.

Whether this is because she's black, a woman or Labour can't be defined but I'm guessing more than one factor is at play.

dontbesillyhenry · 07/06/2017 10:24

Boris Johnson makes a load of ridiculous gaffes and is just a twat. Dianne Abbott does the same and must be ill and needs sympathy.
The left wing bias on here is ridiculous and laughable

makeourfuture · 07/06/2017 10:25

Now if only the current regime would do the honourable thing and step down.

Maudlinmaud · 07/06/2017 10:26

She denied all of those accusations and said she had the full support of labour.
It's making me wonder now. How on earth they allowed this to happen is just bizarre.

BadTasteFlump · 07/06/2017 10:27

The left wing bias on here is ridiculous and laughable

Always been the case on MN.

Cackleberry4 · 07/06/2017 10:28

I read that she had foot in mouth disease.

Dandandandandandandan · 07/06/2017 10:29

It was worse than that. It was "white people love playing divide and rule".

QuiteUnfitBit · 07/06/2017 10:30

I wish her well, and hope she doesn't get blamed/made a scapegoat for people not voting Labour. I'm almost fully decided to vote Conservative (first time ever!), with a tear in my eye, but it was nothing to do with her. I would vote Libdem/Green, if they had any chance in my constituency. But I just can't vote for JC, who can't even manage his MPs let alone Brexit. And his policies that just don't add up.

Oakmaiden · 07/06/2017 10:30

Dianne Abbott does the same

it's not just the gaffes though - although I don't see BJ castigated so severely for his gaffes as DA is for hers - she does look ill and is acting uncharacteristically. It could, of course, be stress related rather than a physical illness, which would explain her not wanting to use it as an "excuse".

makeourfuture · 07/06/2017 10:38

which would explain her not wanting to use it as an "excuse".

What's the Tory excuse?

StHeathensGrammar · 07/06/2017 10:45

Haha @"left-wing bias" on MN! We also have an anti-dickhead bias, whislt you're at it. Perhaps that's because left wing stuff actually makes sense? Humans evolved communally, the selfish right wing crap is just bizarre.

Presumably you're also fuming at the "left-wing bias" in childcare? I mean, teaching them to share and things. Tut tut.

FannyWisdom · 07/06/2017 10:52

Funnily enough it's put me in mind of Mo Mowlem.

I'm old, have watched DA rise in the Labour party.
I don't like her politics, I always thought her a one trick pony, but she wasn't ever like this.
She looks ill, sounds ill and is acting ill.
Maybe save the vinegar until she's recovered.

Those the emails where someone hacked in to someone else's e-mail and pretended to be someone to rectify her situation Walking? Sounds completely legit.......Hmm
