To think people who would otherwise vote for corbyn may not because of Diane Abbott?

Sorry if there's already a thread about her latest cringeworthy interview but I couldn't find one... here she was on sky new last night, clearly having failed to read the police report she was there to discuss:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/3731086/shadow-home-secretary-diane-abbott-car-crash-interview-sky-police-security-london-bridge-attacks-terror/amp/

I like corbyn and what he stands for, but I can't give him my vote with these buffoons around him!

OP posts:
Bluebeedee · 06/06/2017 11:48

Still voting for labour but hoping corbyn gets rid of her soon

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 11:48

makeourfuture - and so did school kids. and soon they will be getting a free breakfast.

and who pays for the food for people in prison or in hospital. Sorry but really your posts at the moment aren't just scraping the barrel on leftist twaddle its pulling out the nails!

the politics of envy. go back your constituency and prepare for your next Momentum meeting. please put "power to the people" at the end of your next post - oh go on, I need a laugh.

heateallthebuns · 06/06/2017 11:49

You are right! I had to switch off that interview it was so cringy.

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 11:51

makeourfuture - and you know that how?

why would I want to wash anyones laundry. what a stupid thing to post.

I have said all along - but just in case you are hard of thinking here it is again. the torys are the least worst option.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 12:04

Bash the bankers all you like, make. The fact remains that 40% cold hard cash from their high income helps the disabled a whole lot more than online handwringing.

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2017 12:05

Most school kids won't be getting a free breakfast. That policy is a disaster.

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2017 12:05

Does the level of tax that bankers pay make up for the financial crisis that they caused? I'm not convinced.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 12:08

Probably not, no.

But at least it's some practical input. Words on a screen do nothing.

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2017 12:13

So when massively wealthy people vote Tory, do you think it's because they want to help disabled people? Or protect their wealth?

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 12:15

I think you're being very simplistic if you think anyone votes for only one reason.

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 12:16

But at least it's some practical input. Words on a screen do nothing.

Words in a bill would mean a heck of a lot. A bill to better regulate the industry. The EU proposed such legislation. Osborne wanted nothing to do with it. Neither do these we have in charge now.

We are still in the mess they wrought, but the Tories focus on the sick, the disabled....the working poor....the elderly.

LIBOR. PIP, exchange rate manipulation....corruption at the heart of our financial institutions....nothing from the Tories.

Austerity. Strangling any hope of real growth.

LadyinCement · 06/06/2017 12:16

Perhaps the whole Diane Abbott thing is so that Labour can parachute in a more moderate potential Home Secretary at the 11th hour so JC looks like a man who can take action and will include some of his exiled MPs.

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 12:18

noblegiraffe and when a feckless family on benefits where no one has had a job for 3 generations votes Labour do you think its because they want to make a contribution to this country and get a job? do you think they care about disabled people or is it just to protect their position - daytime telly and still in their pjs at 3pm.

Dan - I wonder how many people who hate their politicians actually do something about it. you know, join a party, start campaigning, work to influence things in their community, help out at a food bank, serve soup to the homeless, help run the local playgroup. or do they think "someone needs to pay for that"

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 12:19

But the rich have done well. They have. The top percentile's wealth has grown and grown...everything else, everything, has stagnated.

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2017 12:19

Dan and I think you're wrong if you think that wealthy people should be thanked/praised/respected for helping disabled people with their tax money when on the whole they vote for the party that is disastrous for the disabled and seeks to minimise their tax burden.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 12:19

Yes yes. Nice soundbites make. But still no answer to how you think the labour sums are going to work when they are solely dependent on increasing tax.

brasty · 06/06/2017 12:20

She has cancelled her appearance on Woman's Hour because she is ill. It obviously affected her interview. As someone with health problems, no this would not stop me voting for a party.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 12:22

But I'm not saying that they should be praised, noble. Nice bit of projecting there.

I am simply pointing out that the high taxes they pay go a lot further towards helping disabled people than complaining on the internet. You can't pay carers with words.

PseudoBadger · 06/06/2017 12:24

To shoot before a suicide bomber blows up - you need police on the ground!

LadyinCement · 06/06/2017 12:24

Most people vote selfishly. I don't honestly believe that if a person on benefits suddenly won the Euromillions, had £100K income for life and was living in a mansion they would still vote for higher taxation.

Look at what the right to buy council house carrot on a stick did for voting Conservative. People voted for what suited them.

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 12:25

Just a hint of real growth would work wonders. That's when tax receipts really increase.

But there are no Tory plans for growth.....nothing at all.

Why? Because they are doing just fine.

Nikephorus · 06/06/2017 12:25

She has cancelled her appearance on Woman's Hour because she is ill.
Except she was photographed at a tube station only about half an hour before she was due on looking perfectly healthy - www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4576434/Jibes-Abbott-racist-sexist-says-Lily-Allen.html
Perhaps the call was Corbyn saying 'go home and say nothing'??

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2017 12:26

feckless family on benefits

I don't recall being asked to be thankful to them for their 'practical input' on helping the disabled, unlike wealthy people.

I do have some respect for wealthy people. The type like Bill Gates who set up charity foundations and do stuff for the poor with their money. Not the tax avoiders and people like Amber Rudd who use tax havens to avoid paying their share.

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 12:28

And corporations benefit from our system. Just as we all do.

And as we all do, they can pitch in.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 12:28

Where were you asked to be "thankful", noble?
