JC calling for TMs resignation

story in The Independent

So Jeremy Corbyn is saying Theresa May should resign as whilst Home Sec she cut 20,000 officers from the police service.

AIBU to think he's got a bloody good point, and it's all very well her pontificating now, saying he's the one not tough enough etc and trying to score points against him, when it could be argued that her actions have made what would already be an awful situation considerably worse??

"Prime Sinister". Grin Grin

Yorke00 · 05/06/2017 14:10

IDS is my MP too! So depressing...

chantico · 05/06/2017 14:12

I think it was a crass comment (I saw the interview).

I think he should have stated that the question was redundant, as the public get the chance to have their say on her future imminently. And then used the opportunity to restate Labour policy. He bungled it unfortunately.

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 14:12

Yes, Steve Hilton was the first to call for her resignation. JC was asked if he supported this and he said yes, and maybe the election on Thursday was the best way to decide.

makeourfuture · 05/06/2017 14:19

It would be the honourable thing.

StevieNicksLandslide · 05/06/2017 14:19

Theresa May saying 'enough is enough' to terrorists. More like 'has the UK sold you enough arms? Have you sent enough funds to Isis?'

He is such an unbelievable hypocrite.

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 14:23

He's never been involved in selling arms to terrorists.

Enough is enough what? Is she going to discontinue arms deals with Saudi?

Lunde · 05/06/2017 14:23

It's electioneering and given that Tory central office has been criticising Corbyn all weekend I guess that it is fair game to point out Teresa May's actual record as Home Secretary between 2010 and 2016 where she cut police numbers by 20%

OnionKnight · 05/06/2017 14:23

I love how the Corbyn haters are ignoring the fact that the Prime Sinister coddles up to terrorist supporters etc.

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 14:23

BadTasteFlump what's the Hmm face for?

Is this a recent picture?

so.. about the Saudis. She met the head of a foreign government which is currently an important ally with whom we have a lot of trade (not just arms).

we buy an awful lot of their oil.

There are some inferences that some elements of the saudi state or individuals associated with it have funnelled money towards ISIS. Though those that watch this space realise that Qatar is more likely involved and part of the issue with ISIS is that they were pretty self funding with their own oil.

The point is not able to be conflated and points to the Wahabism of the Saud dynasty being potentially allied with the clear Salafism of IS.

Now IS have been pretty self funding - the airstrikes have put paid to that and IS is running low on everything. Hence the call recently to "inspired" groups.

This deliberate and erroneous conflation is usually in defence of Corbyn. This is classic whatabouttery that is usually frowned on by MN.

Turn if we can to JC. Both he, Diane Abbott and McDonnell voted against prosecuting returning fighters from Syria. Just let that sink in. The person vying for home secretary is on record of voting against that. When Corbyn was asked if returning fighters he stated that the supporters should not be prosecuted for "expressing a political point of view".

regardless of your political view - you should be rightly concerned at him and his ilk getting the reins of power.

Where are is the likes of Jarvis, Starmer and so on when Labour need them? Corbyn is a political ideologue. When you are PM of one of the largest economies in the world you need to be a pragmatist first and last. Engage with real-politik rather than ideological purity.

BadTasteFlump · 05/06/2017 14:25

The Hmm was a typo as my tying is a bit shit....

Orlantina · 05/06/2017 14:26

It's electioneering and given that Tory central office has been criticising Corbyn all weekend

Exactly. This has happened on her watch as Home Secretary and PM.

We've lost a lot of police and had other public services cut drastically. We don't know what effect this has had but that is a lot of police to lose.

BadTasteFlump · 05/06/2017 14:27

I am not exactly keen on TM or JC - but I don't seem to be able to go onto MN atm without seeing that pic of TM with the Saudi's. And it's getting tiresome.

They're all as bad as each other, is the sad truth.

Grin "Prime Sinister" Don't know whether that was intentional or an autocorrect but love it either way!

Orlantina · 05/06/2017 14:28

When you are PM of one of the largest economies in the world you need to be a pragmatist first and last

What has that pragmatism cost us?

Orlantina · 05/06/2017 14:29

badtaste

Is that a picture of Corbyn and Martin McGuiness?

Did you read that thread on here after he died?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/06/2017 14:31

He's right she should go.
These terrorists were on the rador, and Yet nothing was done resulting in those poor people dying at a concert, and Not to mention the victims of the London Bridge incident, and many many cases before.
Amber Rudd was on question time the other week saying you cant deport or jail someone for been extremists and having extreme thoughts, so What's the option. Wait until our children are killed or maimed.
The government does have blood on their hands.

makeourfuture · 05/06/2017 14:31

This is classic whatabouttery

Perhaps.

It doesn't mean it is not true, however. But you know this.

The Tories have failed to keep the people safe.

Ifailed · 05/06/2017 14:33

Turn if we can to JC. Both he, Diane Abbott and McDonnell voted against prosecuting returning fighters from Syria.

Please give us an unbiased reference to this? I can't recall a recent bill or debate where this was on the agenda?
