This is looking like being the most critical issue of our times at the moment despite my thoughts that Brexit was the crux of this election.

Can anyone cut through the waffle and tell us what the 2 main parties are offering to do about extremists and terrorism?

i agree charmageddon

I have a -200 trust rating of Corbyn

I have a -10 trust rating of TM

Twinkie1 · 05/06/2017 10:59

How much are Labour going to pay all these new police officers? Was about 8k each a year according to Abbott! 🙄

bruffian · 05/06/2017 10:59

The most ironic thing about the 'Sun reader' slur is that people who bandy this about tend to share posts from the Canary, the most bollocks load of old spin on the internet where the writers only get paid if they get enough likes and shares.

At least the Sun pay their journalists properly!

corbyns amazing speech last night

It wasn't amazing it was an interesting speech from a career politician. Clearly if you see that as amazing you are blinkered.

Cult worship of pop stars by teenage girls is fine. Cult hero worship of politicaians by middle aged women is baffling.

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 11:07

A summary... Tories plan to continue selling arms to Saudi Arabia and funding jihad groups in the UK and abroad (hence TM not wanting the investigation into terrorism commissioned by Cameron and long overdue published). They will continue to under-resource public services. They will use terrorist attacks as a reason to introduce more and more legislation to restrict personal freedom in the name of 'keeping the UK safe'. The number and severity of terrorist attacks will increase, as the UK clocks up more and more enemies and more and more young people are disenfranchised.

Labour plan to stop selling arms to fund terrorist regimes. The intend to adequately fund public services and focus on improving international relations. Also to invest in the nation's young people.

You're welcome.

I don't agree thatJC is a career politician. Career politicians change their view and approaches to fit in with what they think will be most favourable to their own position.

JC is very unusual for a leading politician in his consistency and the coherence between his beliefs and policies.

Grin o the irony

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 11:17

What's the irony bruffian?

Charmageddon · 05/06/2017 11:25

😂😂

How do you square that with his MASSIVE u-turns this week??!!

bruffian · 05/06/2017 11:25

Because JC is a complete career politician. He's spent his entire career on the far left fringes of politics which he is now trying to gloss over!

waitforitfdear · 05/06/2017 11:31

The irony is hilarious.

He's spent his whole adult life in politics so that's been his career and he is now standing for prime minister of the country when he has spent his entire time in that party opposing every single peice of legislation they proposed.

He now supports a shoot to kill policy since Saturday when he has clearly always opposed it.

He associated with the IRA and Hamas before they renounced terrorism.

He will say and do anything to get elected just as they all do.

He is not some superior moral human being he has been catapulted to the leadership and for the first time in his political life he is sniffing what power smells like snd liking it so having the conversion of Saul.

Get a bloody grip. He lies, they all lie.

BertrandRussell · 05/06/2017 11:32

"He's spent his entire career on the far left fringes of politics which he is now trying to gloss over!"

Of course he's a career politician. He's been a full time politician since he was 25! Not sure that he's glossed over his far left activities, has he?

waitforitfdear · 05/06/2017 11:34

It's the hero cult around him I find particularly worrying and baffling. Not from the kids obviously you expect that but middle aged and older voters on here need to calm down because he won't lead you to the promised land. No bugger does.

waitforitfdear · 05/06/2017 11:38

Oh come on bertrand of course he is!

Happy to renew trident?? He's in the CND ffs!

He's just a big a liar as May.

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 11:44

JC had said on numerous occasions that he personally supports CND but will renew Trident because that's what the Labour Party backs and is in the manifesto.

bruffian · 05/06/2017 11:44

he's MORE of a liar than May

at least she's always been pretty unpleasant and makes no secret of it

bruffian · 05/06/2017 11:45

JC had said on numerous occasions that he personally supports CND but will renew Trident because that's what it might take to get him into power that's what the Labour Party backs and is in the manifesto.

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 11:46

I disagree. When challenged over eg calling Hamas 'friends', he explained clearly why he did that. You don't have to agree with him, but he's never lied about it and said that he didn't.

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 11:47

He's the democratically elected leader of the Labour Party. He's endorsing the manifesto. What on earth do you think he should do?

bruffian · 05/06/2017 11:47

god people really do love him don't they

It's almost worth him getting into power just to watch the inevitable fall from grace

waitforitfdear · 05/06/2017 11:49

Exactly Bruffian

You can't have it both ways. . He's either a superior moral being who would stand up for his core beliefs come what may or he's like all the rest happy to dissemble and cooperate when it suits him to get into power.

Personally that's made me warm to him more as a constant middle aged moaning dissenter is pretty boring.

waitforitfdear · 05/06/2017 11:50

HE won't get my vote though.

saoirse31 · 05/06/2017 11:51

Tories- well Theresa may has been home secretary and Tories have been in power for how many years? So they'll most likely continue to do what they've done.

Labour ? Don't know tbh. Prob won't get involved in sending UK troops to mid east I'd assume, but I actually think that will have negligible effect on Isis attacks anyway.
