To ask anyone awake to keep me sane till midnight?

Welshmaenad · 01/06/2017 23:16

My final assignment result - the one that determines if I pass or fail my degree - is released at midnight.

I started out wanting a First - to be honest now I'll just be happy to pass! It's been a rough three years, I've lost both my parents, have been ill with a chronic pain condition, and my marriage disintegrated and I've done the last year as a single mum. So I can forgive myself for not getting a First but I really, really need to pass. I have worked my arse off.

So can anyone distract/entertain me? Tell me something funny or happy or a joke or just something, I am going crazy!!

teatimebear kipper

Teatimebear, have you got any letters for that clue?

KeepServingTheDrinks · 01/06/2017 23:29

Why would the answer be "Kipper"???? I REALLY don't 'get' cryptic crosswords. DH is a whizz at them.

Ok, if you like the jokes,

Knock knock

PavlovianLunge · 01/06/2017 23:30

So cryptic crosswords aren't my thing. Blush

PavlovianLunge · 01/06/2017 23:31

Who's there, keep?

ohfourfoxache · 01/06/2017 23:31

Bloody hell, a SW degree is a killer. It is so, so much work- I don't think people realise how intense it is

Welshmaenad · 01/06/2017 23:31

Kippers are smoked and kip is slang for sleep Smile

Impatient cow

chitofftheshovel · 01/06/2017 23:32

Eeek. Fingers crossed, not long now. You will let us know, right?

I'll tell you about a very silly day out recently. I had a friend staying and we went for a walk/picnic on the beach with our dogs and my kids. Great beach, miles of sand and dunes. Had a great time and amazingly the kids didn't argue much, it was pretty good weather and the dogs had a good stretch.

Just as we were leaving to go up to the car park my son discovered he'd lost a trainer, my friend then discovered she'd lost her car key and when we got back to the cars we had both been given tickets. Friends partner had to drive the spare set of keys down, 8 hour round trip. Turned out to be a pretty expensive "cheap" day out!

incogKNEEto · 01/06/2017 23:33

Kip is slang for a nap, and kippers are smoked mackerel (?) l think Smile Good luck op!

PavlovianLunge · 01/06/2017 23:33

Impatient cow who?

ComingUpTrumps · 01/06/2017 23:36

OP you've done so so well. Flowers

What you've been through over the last 3 years sounds incredibly stressful. Despite this, you've kept going and persevered, continuing with your degree (academic work and social work placements at the same time as raising a family. You should feel hugely proud of yoursel (I hope you do).

Here's some Cake and Brew (and Wine) for you.

ComingUpTrumps · 01/06/2017 23:37

Bigcat and OP your cryptic crossword guesses are genius! I would never have guessed it - sadly I'm rubbish at cryptic crosswords :(

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 01/06/2017 23:38

What do you call a sheep on a trampoline?

BlessYourCottonSocks · 01/06/2017 23:39

Well done - you've done amazingly well. Of course you've passed!

Trumps I hope my mum and dad would be proud of me. My mum was a social worker - a very very good one. It's quite emotional, it feels like the handing on of a baton. She knew I had my place at my chosen uni before she died and she was so pleased for me.
