To be scared of Labours Land tax

Dragongirl10 · 01/06/2017 15:11

Just read about this, Labour are proposing a Land Value Tax on any land owned, could cost thousands a year for anyone even with a small house, not just the rich....they have not publicised this at all.

People with modest homes could be forced to sell or go into debt, or be repossessed...

Thank you Leg0

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 15:58

I give it a year before the tories do it

Maybe less Grin

makeourfuture · 07/06/2017 16:00

What's scaring me are the deep Tory police cuts.

Thiscantreallybehappening · 07/06/2017 16:03

Page 86 of the Labour Manifesto under Local Communities;

" We will initiate a review into reforming council tax and business rates and consider new options such as a land value tax to ensure local government has sustainable funding for the long term."

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 16:05

this

Loads of people have already quoted that on this thread

Including me

They are going to look at other options SUCH AS LVT

It may well happen....once they have looked at options FOR EXAMPLE LVT

PigletJohn · 07/06/2017 16:10

The Conservative campaigners already know that. They know it isn't a proposal, but people such as Leg0 and Dragongril keep pretending it is. Cementlady and twofor pretend they don't know what a proposal is.

It's just a foolish bit of false propaganda.

They will stop tomorrow evening, and totally lose interest.

Thiscantreallybehappening · 07/06/2017 16:13

Rufus - I posted it as PigletJohn didn't seem to be aware that it was in the manifesto

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 16:16

Sorry this

Ive seen the bloody thing so many times Smile

I think piglet knows its there

Dandandandandandandan · 07/06/2017 16:19

If they had another alternative, why wouldn't they have named it? Oh let's put the one we don't really like, you know, the one our chancellor in waiting supports, yeah, let's throw them that bone so it gets pounced on by the press, right, but all our other really cool and fair ideas that won't fuck the economy, we'll keep those right up our sleeves.

You're on another planet, you corbynistas!

Thiscantreallybehappening · 07/06/2017 16:19

Smile thank you Rufus

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 16:21

dan

For the eleventy billionth time

I do not support labour...i have voted tory in all but one election

I quite like the english language, i like the fact that you can use words like for example...and only have one example

That by using the words such as...that you dont have to come up with every other option that you may have thought of

Goodness the English language is a wonderful tool

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 16:22

Thats ok this

Wine
Thiscantreallybehappening · 07/06/2017 16:22

Dandan Grin - exactly

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 16:23

Right this

I will have my wine back!!

Grin
Thiscantreallybehappening · 07/06/2017 16:26

Rufus - Grin Wine Flowers

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 16:28

I wouldnt mind

I always seem to find myself defending something I actually dont give a shit about Grin

Dandandandandandandan · 07/06/2017 16:29

Too late, wine has clearly been scarfed.

I think they intend to do it and have no alternatives. The fact that McDonnell is such a fan of it says it all.

WalkingOnLeg0 · 07/06/2017 16:32

What does it matter if after their review they come up with a different form of tax like LVT but not LVT. Its a signal that they are open to taxing peoples wealth and redistributing wealth from people with homes to those without. Then can say it was in their manifesto and that they discussed in in the open on the BBC and SKY before the election.

Don't you think voters have a right to know the level of tax they are looking to raise against peoples homes every year, before we all vote?

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 16:33

I know dan

Its half bloody gone!!

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 16:33

walking

How much is the tory tax?

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 16:34

Off to work

I am not ignoring anyone

Wine all round

Its nearly over...all bar the shouting Grin

PigletJohn · 07/06/2017 16:39

It looks like "strong and stable" didn't work

Got to try something else.

How about "Theresa May - keeping you safe by cutting the Police?"

WalkingOnLeg0 · 07/06/2017 16:42

How much is the tory tax?
The Tories aren't renationalising all the utilities, ending tuition fees and making everything free for everyone so they dont need to raise hundreds of Billions of pounds in tax.

Oneiroi · 07/06/2017 17:21

They tried this in France and it left many people destitute.

PigletJohn · 07/06/2017 19:27

Then you will be very pleased that it is not labour party policy, and is not a proposal in the referendum
