To be scared of Labours Land tax

Dragongirl10 · 01/06/2017 15:11

Just read about this, Labour are proposing a Land Value Tax on any land owned, could cost thousands a year for anyone even with a small house, not just the rich....they have not publicised this at all.

People with modest homes could be forced to sell or go into debt, or be repossessed...

Well gee, and there I was paying my great whack of tax, paying for private healthcare so not using the NHS, paying private school fees, so not taking up a state school place, doing a lot of consultancy work for charities for free so that they can help people - no, you're right, I have isolated myself entirely

How philanthropic of you? Us plebs should be awfully grateful shouldnt we?

PigletJohn · 06/06/2017 17:03

Bombardier,

"can people please stop spreading lies? "

I'm afraid you have misunderstood the purpose of this thread (and thousands like it, churning through the internet on forums and scial media).

The purpose is not to express a genuine concern, or to gather information.

Consider a market where there are two popular family cars. Let's say the Pinto and the Comanchero. The Pinto marketing department instructs their agents to walk round rodeos saying loudly "I hear them Comancheros have a bad record for the wheels falling off." Every time a potential buyer hears it, a seed of doubt is sown in their mind.

If Comanchero earnestly deploy expert engineers, road safety experts, and statisticians to prove that this is a lie, the dullard buyers of 4x4s only remember "Comanchero... wheels fall off".

Every time somebody says "The wheels don't fall off Comancheros" the dullard brain stores the words "wheels.. fall off... Comancheros"

The Tory Marketing department, and its popular hournals, have used instructions that their drones must walk round loudly saying "Wheels fall off Comancheros" (or the equivalent.

Every time an honest person tries to put the drones right, they key words get repeated again and again. "Wheels... Comancheros... Fall Off"

So you will never stop the drones repeating the message, until their orders are countermanded.

Of the available options, you might try pointing out that the message is a false one created and published by the Conservative Propaganda Department the Daily Express, one week before the election, in an attempt to cover up Theresa's tumbling popularity, and to discourage the large number of voters who have recently discovered that Jeremy Corbyn is a decent and honest man, and to distract attention from the fact the Weak and Wobbly Theresa has been exposed as the person who spent six years running down police budgets and manpower, and abusing them as scaremongers when they attempted to warn her of the effects of her reckless acts.

The effects of Theresa's years of damage are now plainly exposed. She cannot divert blame from herself. No doubt she is already looking for a new job.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 17:04

so do you actually pay for the private health or is it insurance dan

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 17:06

Bit of both, rufus. Not everything is covered by the insurance. Eg when I had DC.

If you want to see it that way, Just. Despite your sarcasm, i suspect it's more of a contribution to society, of the type piglet was banging on about, than most.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 17:06

of the lefties banging on about raising taxes make.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 17:14

Thank you dan

We have insurance as well although i have paid for a GP appointment before out of desperation!!

Lots of times you need a doctors referral which is bloody annoying when the wait here for a routine appointment is 6/8 weeks

PigletJohn · 06/06/2017 17:16

I see dandans banging on about making a contribution to society a lot.

But he's formed the opinion that it's something only right wingers do.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 17:19

Tongue out of cheek - I try not to use the NHS wherever I can, as I think I am taking up a space that someone who can't afford it needs. So I pay for a private GP for things like smear tests; I pay for a private dentist; I paid for prescriptions when pregnant etc etc. But you are absolutely right, when you need a referral to the insurer, there can be a long wait. A private GP appointment is the quickest way around that - it's usually about £50-75.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 17:21

well no, piglet. That's not what I said. But as you can't even read my sex from my posts, I'm not surprised you missed the other stuff.

I said, lots of lefties banging on about bankers and the rich don't actually do anything useful themselves. Which is absolutely true. I didn't say only right wing people do useful things. Which would not be true.

MaidOfStars · 06/06/2017 17:30

Piglet
I like your analogy but I'm most impressed? amused? that those were the first names that came to you as an opposite pair Grin

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 17:32

dan

Mine was £90!!!!

I just couldn't wait anymore...and i do appreciate how lucky i am that £90 doesn't break us

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 17:35

dan

Alan partridge fan?

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 17:42

DP is the Alan partridge lover. He shouts it at me when he can't get my attention! Grin

That's a lot - mine is in the city so I'd have thought about as expensive as it gets. I agree with you though, lucky it won't break me, therefore I pay it.

PigletJohn · 06/06/2017 17:44

"most of the lefties banging on about raising taxes make."

no, I definitely didn't see the words "bankers and the rich"

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 17:47

dan

We do it to the children and each other all the time

Weirdly we all respond better to someone yelling dan at us repeatedly rather than our own names

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 17:52

Haha that's brilliant. I can see my DC doing the same. None of us are called Dan.

Not my fault if you didn't RTFT piglet.

PigletJohn · 06/06/2017 17:54

up to a thousand

time for somebody to start another thread on this popular false rumour.

ExpatQuine · 06/06/2017 18:03

Oh dear. Tory plant?

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 18:05

Whats a tory plant?

Venus fly trap?

Its not a peace lily is it?

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 18:05

Eh? It's up to 845. Your maths adds up as well as Corbyn's!

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 18:05

846 now

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 18:06

847

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 18:06

Let me know when this gets annoying

848

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 18:11

It says 849 at the top! This is like when you have two electric clocks in the kitchen on the microwave and the oven and they don't say the same thing...

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 06/06/2017 18:17
