Anyone awake? My ss has meningitis

We are in hospital, waiting for test results. I am breaking. I can't do this

They'll want to check bloods to check he's responding to treatment. But ask if you want to know, and they'll tell you.

DS1 had viral meningitis two and a half years ago. It was the most awful week of our lives, watching him deteriorate and not having the first clue how to fix it; the level of trust you put into those Doctors, Nurses and hospital staff feels terrifying when you're so helpless. They were incredible, though, and he came through entirely healthy after rest, meds and time off school.

Sending hugs and hand holds. If you have anyone who's able to come and be with you, ask them for support. And eat and drink when you can because you need to stay as strong as you can.

There could be a any number of reasons to run more bloods.

But you've said he's getting better so hopefully it's just routine.

They seem to take blood at any opportunity in hospital! Hope he keeps getting better.

They want to rerun the bloods to confirm that there is no bacteria. They are amazing. I am so grateful. He is improving and doing well.

Hope all is on the mend now. My ds1 had viral meningitis at 7 weeks old. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. Thankfully he was fine after a short spell in hospital and some major iv antivirals. The hardest thing was not being able to pick my tiny baby up for fear of sending his temperature back up again. That was worse than when they took him off for his lumbar puntures and the first time they explained how they did them on the tinies.

Hope he recovers really soon.
