Neighbour subtly complaining?

My 4yo son accidentally threw a toy into next doors garden whilst playing with his brother who is 2 (almost 3) on their trampoline. Dh said he'd go round to ask got it back, I said to take DS so he can apologise etc. When they got back my Dh said how he'd spoken to the woman and he explained that DS had accidentally thrown toy over when on the trampoline and said something like "yes, we can hear the trampoline" so Dh says "oh, is it bothering you" to which she replied "well we can hear it". Aibu to be upset/annoyed? We moved in only 6 months ago and the neighbours have clearly lived in their house so long time (old retired couple) so I feel awkward. Compared to where we used to live, it is wonderfully quiet... A big reason I wanted to move here. But my children make noise, they're 2 & 4 and They love playing out in our back garden on the slide, little play house, riding their bikes and bouncing on their trampoline. They don't go on it at unsociable hours-they have a pretty strict bedtime routine, so the latest they are out there is 5:30pm, in bed at 7:30. My youngest is a screamer (slow developer, possible autism) and will scream when both happy and sad but my 4yo is such a polite little boy and us very well behaved. Now I feel stressed about letting them play and I'm fretting over any noises they make.. Which is just crazy. It's an estate full of family homes! Aibu?

Both houses on either side of me have those massive trampolines and so does the garden opposite (that is at the back end of our garden) and it drives me round the bend.

When me and DH are in our living room all we can hear is three lots of children bouncing , shrieking and shouting and it's really, really annoying.

I bloody hate those trampolines!!! Grin

friends I know working in A&E hate them too, even more than they hate motorbikes!

OP, you sound reasonable. The screaming at everything 2yo would twist my melon but hearing you at least try to control noise would help.

Unlike my current ndn's who seem to have a bell in every tooth. At first I thought it was just the child communicating at full volume while bouncing on the trampoline (please don't oil the springs the noise seems to tune out her incessant bellowing for attention) but no, the parents are are totally lacking in any social graces towards each other too and have snippy digs at each other at full volume.

I enjoy an early morning coffee out on the patio ... they get up late obviously, after that every conversation they have comes blaring over the fence. Nip out to peg my washing can't fail to hear their moronic musings.

It was nice Horse. Thanks.

I don't think everyone should enjoy it.

ShuttyTown · 29/06/2017 16:25

Your screaming 2yo would fuck me off too.

Exactly what I said. Children need to run about and scream to let off steam. They're too tired during the week, so they do it in our garden at weekends, or the park if they want to. They come in at 5 for supper. Our neighbours don't give a shit about keeping us awake on a school night until 3am.

no they absolutely don't. Run about is one thing, screaming another.
If they have that much energy, take them out on their bike, swimming or to play football in a park. No need to scream there either, there are people living around parks and other children playing who don't need that amount of noise.

You're very certain about this Codi.

AndTake there isn't anywhere safe to run about in the house, and when children are excited they scream. Like if they're playing with bats and a ball, or playing tag. Are we living in the 19th century?
