Its a MIL thing and a Facebook thing - I know these get done to death but please give me some perspective! I posted a photo of 6 year old DS on Facebook. He is messing about pretending to sing into an inflatable microphone. MIL has commented "So sexy!" AIBU to think this is a) wierd and b) just a bit inappropriate?

OP posts:

Totally grim.

milkmoustache · 22/05/2017 17:28

Both a) and b). Yuck!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 22/05/2017 17:28

🙄 at your MIL.

ADayGivingMeHope · 22/05/2017 17:29

Extraordinarily inappropriate and I'd definitely say something so she knows not to make comments like that to your DD in the future!

SarahGraceMc · 22/05/2017 17:29

Delete her comment op and if she asks say it's no appropriate to call a child sexy

HildaOg · 22/05/2017 17:29

Ewww... I hope you deleted her comment. And privately told her it was inappropriate. Wtf is wrong with people.

CheeseCrackersAndWine · 22/05/2017 17:30

Cringe! I'd definitely delete the comment... Just why?

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 22/05/2017 17:30

I'd be saying sth 😬

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 22/05/2017 17:30

What? Imagine a papa commented that about a grandaughter.

TheNaze73 · 22/05/2017 17:30

Sweet baby Jesus & the orphans.

That's a dreadful thing for her to have said. Delete & block

takeabreakthatslife · 22/05/2017 17:30

Yanbu

Raggydolly3 · 22/05/2017 17:31

Why would anyone say that about their grandchild Hmm

Monstermuncher · 22/05/2017 17:32

I've deleted the comment (not before taking a screenshot). I'm just trying to work out my response which will not be posted on Facebook

Gads! My mil would do similar with comments on my Facebook of her son (my husband). One of the many reasons I no longer have Facebook 😏

Laiste · 22/05/2017 17:33

Delete it (if you can, not on FB so don't know) and only explain if she brings it up. Say you thought the sexy comment was off. That's what i'd do.

OboePlayingImmortalRabbit · 22/05/2017 17:33

You're definitely not being unreasonable. That's awful.

Laiste · 22/05/2017 17:34

Oh x post. Deleted already. Can DP have a word with his mother?

gherkin85 · 22/05/2017 17:36

Oh God Lol. Very funny very inappropriate
was she a bit merry?

nosleepforme · 22/05/2017 17:36

yes, weird and inappropriate! sounds like you have dealt with it appropriately. good for you!

gherkin85 · 22/05/2017 17:37

it's not funny to call a child sexy
It's just funny that she thought it was ok

KoalaDownUnder · 22/05/2017 17:39

I'd just delete it and move on.

It's really off and ill-judged, but I'm sure she doesn't literally mean she finds him sexually attractive. Probably a clumsy way of saying 'handsome' or 'cool'.

Sunnywithadashofgin · 22/05/2017 17:42

My sister in law does this and I just don't get it. Why sexy?! Why not cute, handsome, whatever. Sexy is just so wrong!

Its seems to be a very common way of referring to a child nowadays and its one that repulses me.

I think granny has heard it and is just getting down with the yoof, and if you explain to her its not really acceptable she'll say something like well I didn't think it was but its just so common I thought it was ok.

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 22/05/2017 17:55

Why would anyone say that about their grandchild

This exactly. Grim indeed. Delete it and prevent from making future dumb comments.
