warning booooring. laundry related.

have visitors to stay the weekend, one of them is my mum.

she just had a strop because she doesn't want to sleep in bedding that hasn't been boil washed.

I only wash bedding hot if there is a reason (d&v, worms, athletes foot...)

aibu to book her into a hotel?

Moussemoose · 19/05/2017 18:48

Kimonolady · 19/05/2017 18:49

Not gonna lie, I'd chuck her in a bloody boil wash.
YANBU.

Trifleorbust · 19/05/2017 18:49

Oh tell her to sod off.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 19/05/2017 18:50

well that's nice....she thinks you are a clarty low life of a housewife! end her home.Or lie and say you thought she said something else, and OF COURSE you boil wash alllll the things, always.

I 60 wash bedding and towels as standard, with the occasional 90+ thrown in for the hell of it.

RedBugMug · 19/05/2017 18:50

TheLegendOfBeans · 19/05/2017 18:50

Oh god moussemouse, that's killed me 😂

supersop60 · 19/05/2017 18:50

Does anybody boil wash anything anymore? Really not necessary with bio detergents etc.

StealthPolarBear · 19/05/2017 18:51

The last two washing machines we've had haven't had a boil wash - only gone up to 60

EllaHen · 19/05/2017 18:52

High five - no need to host.

A boil wash? Will no-one think of the environment?

RedBugMug · 19/05/2017 18:53

she has issues.
hope she is just tired from travelling and tomorrow is better.
I'm hiding in the loo whilst dc beat her at ludo

I usually use the eco programmes of my washer. but they only go up to 40.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 19/05/2017 18:56

How did you not know she had these issues and were not prepared for a simple lie that yes they were boil washed,,,?

Blimey01 · 19/05/2017 18:56

Yep just ask which hotel she would like you to book for her. She might suddenly get over the strop.

My mil brings her own bedding with her when she staysHmm

timeforabrewnow · 19/05/2017 18:57

good luck for the rest of the visit OP - sounds like you need it!

RedBugMug · 19/05/2017 18:59

I know she always boil washed everything, but she hardly ever visits (first time in 5 years)

DonttouchthatLarry · 19/05/2017 19:00

I must confess I was bedding on 90c and towels too.

Although I probably don't wash them as often as some. Current bedding been on 2 weeks (unusual as I am normally a once a weeker!!)

harderandharder2breathe · 19/05/2017 19:14

I've never boil washed anything in my life

I do everything on 40, have once or twice in my life done towels or bedding at 60. I don't think my washing machine even goes higher than that!

NotAPuffin · 19/05/2017 19:21

I wash my bedding and towels at 60 but the standard wash that I do everything else in is only 20 Shock

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/05/2017 19:22

Anyone remember the thread about hotel bedding a few weeks ago? The one, where it was common practice in some hotels to not change bed linen between guests if the previous guest had only stayed one night. I'd send her to one of these hotels. Grin

2017SoFarSoGood · 19/05/2017 19:23

How incredibly rude she is being. I'd tell her she is welcome to leave.

BOIL! Bring your own bloody bedding if you are that fussy. The nerve of some guests.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 19/05/2017 19:24

My mum is coming to visit tomorrow. She is bringing her own bedding. This is because she hates to put me to any "trouble" rather than through fear of which temperature I run my washing machine at though.
