To use the disabled loo when I'm with my son?

RestingBitch · 19/05/2017 17:06

My sons 9 months and obviously still in his pushchair. The majority of the time it's just me and him when I go into town/visit places. When I need the loo I get an attack of conscious, I normally use the disabled loo so I can bring him in with me.
Can't use a regular loo as I can't get him in the cubicle in his chair. Don't want to take him out of his pushchair and plonk him on the floor as the floors are manky and he will eat whatever is on the floor. He'll also probably try and crawl under the gap and interrupt someone else. Don't really like the idea of leaving him in his pushchair whilst I nip in the cubicle, so providing there isn't someone waiting for the disabled loos, AIBU to use them? I'm usually in and out and so far I've never encountered anyone waiting for one, or the impatient rattle of the door. If I am being unreasonable, short of pissing myself what's the options?

Not a troll, and don't work for any newspapers :).

beyond in that case I'll repost the changing places link as all disability toilets should actually be fit for people with disabilities to use

Indeed, momma

ilovesooty · 22/05/2017 14:09

I'd also like confirmation that people who persist with disablist posts have their posting privileges removed and are told why.

And I know there's been an apology for "old dears" but how can anyone not realise how offensive that is?

mychilddoesntlookdisabled · 22/05/2017 14:12

I reported old dears before Katherine came on the thread. It is still there. Which is, frankly, shocking.

SadieTheNurse · 22/05/2017 14:15

I take a baby carrier & hang him up on the hook Wink

MommaGee · 22/05/2017 14:15

Well I apologized for dears instead of ladies and its in the hands on MNHQ to ban me from the site. It is possible for people to use language in a way that is perceived as offensive which yet they didn't see or use as offensive. All they can do is aplogise and reconsider their language usage in future.

mychilddoesntlookdisabled · 22/05/2017 14:19

I know you apologised but it's shocking to me that you would say it and not realise quite how demeaning belittling infantilising and down right offensive it is.

I'm not asking that you be banned. I'm asking that the post be deleted for being ageist.

ilovesooty · 22/05/2017 14:26

And despite reports it's still there...

mychilddoesntlookdisabled · 22/05/2017 14:28

The thing is. Katherine said "if there's anything we've misssd" but I had already reported at that stage and I'm sure others had too.

It feels rather pointless to report to be honest.

MommaGee · 22/05/2017 14:34

As an aside and final thought even our frequent flyer hospital can't get it right. Its bloody hard work pulling DS in a light pushchaor through two heavy doors and a tight corner into the ladies loo, I just pull him into my cubicle and let who wants look. It would be impossible with a double buggy. Its not sensible to leave the pushchaor outside the toilets in the corridor as its a big busy children's hospital where they could be rushing a child through at any time. So many parents end up using the disability loo.

kali110 · 22/05/2017 14:41

Parents shouldnt use the disability toilet though!
I agree that momma shouldnt be someone who is banned as i didn't think they have been deliberately disablist, or goady.

kali110 · 22/05/2017 14:42

*Don't think
Wow my phone seriously has a problem with it's spellcheck Confused

MommaGee · 22/05/2017 14:42

Kali but in my hospital example what do you propose? For a parent with a larger pushchaor (think to carry o2onto because it was pretty) or a double buggy?

SynysterGates · 22/05/2017 14:49

campaign, start one campaign for family toilets.

PurpleMinionMummy · 22/05/2017 14:52

I can't get my head around mums being expected to piss and change sanpro with a door open. Privacy is a basic right. But obviously if you're a mum you should forgo this particular one Confused. All this fuss about rights to use a certain toilet whilst at the same time expecting others to forgo their basic right of privacy all seems a bit hypocritical.
