To use the disabled loo when I'm with my son?

RestingBitch · 19/05/2017 17:06

My sons 9 months and obviously still in his pushchair. The majority of the time it's just me and him when I go into town/visit places. When I need the loo I get an attack of conscious, I normally use the disabled loo so I can bring him in with me.
Can't use a regular loo as I can't get him in the cubicle in his chair. Don't want to take him out of his pushchair and plonk him on the floor as the floors are manky and he will eat whatever is on the floor. He'll also probably try and crawl under the gap and interrupt someone else. Don't really like the idea of leaving him in his pushchair whilst I nip in the cubicle, so providing there isn't someone waiting for the disabled loos, AIBU to use them? I'm usually in and out and so far I've never encountered anyone waiting for one, or the impatient rattle of the door. If I am being unreasonable, short of pissing myself what's the options?

Not a troll, and don't work for any newspapers :).

When there is no disabled toilet available I have taken my ds who is 11 in his wheelchair, into the standard toilets. I have parked him at the end cubicle with the door slightly open. I shouldn't have to do that because it is an indignity for him but if it is that or piss myself, I do it.
If I can do it why can't someone with a baby do it?

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 22/05/2017 08:32

an abledbodied person does not NEED to use a disabled toilet.

HomeDesire2017 · 22/05/2017 08:33

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber See you cannot answer my question. You can't find a reasonable solution to a problem that a lot of women face.

Becuase they NEEEEEEED the disabled toilet, they NEEEEEEED it, it's a NEEEEEEED.

'I also think that if a mother was waiting to use the accessible toilet and another person joined the queue, she would let that person go first!'

Well that's reassuring Confused

'I mean, serious question here to all the parents adamant that there's no way they could leave their DC outside the toilet door - if there wasn't a disabled toilet option, would you really choose to wet yourself or shit your pants rather than, e.g. leave the pram outside the cubicle door for 30 '

Yes please tell us all the parents who cant manage a toddler/baby and a pushchair what do you do when there isn't a disabled toilet available? let me guess, you manage perfectly well, you don't wet yourself as those with no other choice would.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 22/05/2017 08:38

What do you think parents of children did before disabled toilets?

Becuase disabled people mostly stayed in one place, apart from the odd short outings.

I'm betting parents managed back then.#, even though it's seemingly impossible now.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber No it hasn't pissing/shitting/changing a tampon is not an option. You have no answer it's that simple.

Can I get this right? According to you.. An able bodied person should never use an accessible toilet under any circumstance JUST INCASE a person with a disability which means they can not hold for 1 minute comes along in that 1 minute it takes you to pee. They themselves have to risk wetting/spiking/leaking themselves JUST INCASE?

@MaybeNextWeek as a disabled person I find this hilarious.

HomeDesire2017 · 22/05/2017 08:44

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber I'm asking YOU what you think the solution should be?

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 22/05/2017 08:45

are you okay?

Yes i use those posts as a way of time checking when mumsnet have been through the thread, that way i can add how long they knew about hate speech and the like in any complaints i make.

Of course you do. well done.

Yes that's right. Penny dropped at last?

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 22/05/2017 08:46

There is method to the madness....

BeyondStrongAndStable · 22/05/2017 08:52

As a disabled person, I certainly don't think it's funny.

Are we back on "well one person who's possibly disabled said it's okay" again?

killerlego · 22/05/2017 08:53

As long as there not someone disabled waiting I wouldn't even think twice about it.

HomeDesire2017 · 22/05/2017 08:54

MaybeNextWeek So it's okay for a struggling mum to piss herself then? I like how you've cut and pasted a section of my post not the whole thing.

mychilddoesntlookdisabled · 22/05/2017 08:54

Killer. So. My child rocks up in sports gear. Looking perfectly fit and healthy. Age 19. Tall. Muscled. Trainers.

Would you let them go first?
