To think Theresa May looks rattled

WhoIsRonniePickering · 15/05/2017 22:37

I watched the interview she gave on BBC News. She looked nervous and shaky. Do you think she's now thinking she's made a massive mistake and misjudged the Corbyn juggernaut? She looked like she was thinking "fcccccccccccccck."

OP posts:
makeourfuture · 16/05/2017 08:58

"I know this is what they think people like me think, so I hate thinking it, but I just find myself thinking that they're from a different fucking species. You know, with their t-shirts and weird trousers and tabards. Why do they wear clothing with writing on it? And why are they so fucking fat?"

LovelyBath77 · 16/05/2017 08:58

She was going on about having diabetes and how it doesn't have to affect her life etc and I wonder if this affects how she views disabilities- however different conditions affect people differently and I hope she understands that. Not sure she does though.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/05/2017 09:03

Check out the miserable 12 people who turn up to her hustings as opposed to the thousands appearing to cheer on Jez.

Well for starters JC has been campaigning in Labour heartlands, whereas TM and TF have been campaigning in marginals.

OuchBollocks · 16/05/2017 09:10

She's a fool of the highest order. Cameron, Johnson et al knew Brexit would be a total and utter disaster, and ran like the wind once the referendum results came out. She was left because she was the only one stupid enough not to back away quickly, and in 20, 50 years time, maybe sooner, her name will be the one that goes down in history as spearheading the total collapse of the UK.

Gottagetmoving · 16/05/2017 09:12

I don't think she is coming across very well.
She seems awkward talking to people when she is out on her campaign and she does not come across as likeable and looks positively scared!
She doesn't seem able to answer people's questions or address their concerns without resorting to the standard responses that don't actually tell you anything.
Jeremy Corbyn comes across much better. He looks like he actually listens and even likes people. I did not think he would do as well as he has to be honest.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 16/05/2017 09:17

Lynton's puppet on a string.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/05/2017 09:21

Lynton's puppet on a string.

Well JC seems to be an ex Communist Party members puppet on a string.

All parties have spin drs. Alistair Campbell was one of the best there has ever been. You may not agree with him but he was very good at it.

SuburbanRhonda · 16/05/2017 09:24

What she should have done with Cathy instead of quoting chunks Conservative party policy is empathised.

She should have asked why Cathy feels the government aren't supporting disabled people and what she thinks should be changed. She should have said she was sorry to hear Cathy was unhappy with the system, agreed that it must be very difficult to manage on £100 a month and promised to put her in touch with one of her junior health ministers to discuss it further.

I can see why she doesn't like talking to ordinary people just from the way she mishandled that incident.

Oblomov17 · 16/05/2017 09:24

I can't find this interview. Please does anyone have a link?

Orlantina · 16/05/2017 09:29

Customer service complaint skills?

Oblomov17 · 16/05/2017 09:33

Sorry. Found it.

Tory policy on DLA, PIP Disability is a disgrace.

And TM's reassurance is:
"So that we are helping those most in need".

Well, I'm sorry. But I just don't believe you.

To think Theresa May looks rattled
Gottagetmoving · 16/05/2017 09:33

She said they want to make sure that help goes to those 'who really need it' or words to that effect.
However, the Tories have withdrawn help from people who really need it.
Their belief is that people don't need help and that their circumstances are always their own fault. The assume it is down to laziness or that people are not as ill as they pretend.

Oblomov17 · 16/05/2017 09:35

Then she said something like "it's not just about the money". Errr, IT IS, when your DLA has been taken away and you've got no carer.

Not totally about the money obviously. But it is a huge factor. 😡

TM has refused to go on live debates. Yes. Here's why. She exposes herself, when under pressure.

Oblomov17 · 16/05/2017 09:38

But she'll still win! Sad

Gottagetmoving · 16/05/2017 09:44

I think people underestimate how much damage the Tories have done to a lot of people.
Just because we have polls predicting a massive win for the Tories doesn't mean that they will. There are millions of people in this country who have never been asked.

RedToothBrush · 16/05/2017 10:01

She seems to think that mental illness and learning disabilities are synonymous. That concerns me.

This

and the bit when she tells the woman that they are giving money to the people who really need it. The sinister but definite implication is that the woman talking to her and complaining doesn't need it as she's not disabled enough.

Its massively patronising and condescending. And actually the references to mental health are not particularly good in this context either - far from breaking taboos and stigma they rather show a huge level of ignorance and prejudice and stereotypical from May.

Our PM should be familiar and comfortable in situations like this in order to show they understand real issues.

May will win. But its not because people like her. Its because some people like her and some people THINK they like her. They will find out they don't.

SuburbanRhonda · 16/05/2017 10:06

Customer service complaint skills?

Or maybe people who are trained customer service advisors have the same skills?

Whatever you call it, it requires empathy and that's where TM fails to convince.

Orlantina · 16/05/2017 10:10

But its not because people like her

It's because the Opposition are useless.

We're between a rock and a hard place.

Orlantina · 16/05/2017 10:11

She doesn't seem able to answer people's questions or address their concerns without resorting to the standard responses that don't actually tell you anything

This. When she does the leader's 'debate' - in other words, when she faces questions from the public on TV, we'll probably just get the standard responses.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 16/05/2017 10:21

Inflation now at 2.7%. when the economy turns to shit and Brexit fails to deliver it will be on the Tories watch.

makeourfuture · 16/05/2017 10:35

We're between a rock and a hard place.

No this is a struggle between hope and fear, love and hate.

These are the times when we choose the sort of future we want.

Butkin1 · 16/05/2017 11:18

Bookmakers still have Conservatives at about 1/33. If you want to back Labour - and many people on this thread seem pro them - you can get 16/1 (20/1 if you look hard enough).

NoLotteryWinYet · 16/05/2017 11:35

well, I'll have to vote for none of the above then - I don't want the tory future OR the Corbyn future. Why can't I have a centrist labour party that sorts out the mess the tories have made of disability benefit, funds the NHS and primary/secondary education better and just leaves it at that for the first 5 years., because sorting out that lot is plenty.

Whizbang · 16/05/2017 13:03

Corbyn juggernaut?! GrinGrinGrin. Thanks, I needed a laugh. I'm a floating voter, living in London, and I haven't encountered anybody who intends voting Labour.

JC has irrevocably ruined the party. It's a tragedy really

BrianGosling · 16/05/2017 13:14

I know NHS staff and police officers who are voting Labour. The Manifesto is saying what people want to hear.
