Just saw an interview with this woman and how irritating is she? I thought Diane Abbot was bad but she is dreadful!

silkybear- saying you'll "go back to not voting" if he goes, and you're telling everyone else what they should be doing? holy cows, this is worse than i thought.

Ok I'll bite. How is it a cult to say nothing represents my views up until now so I have had to spoil ballot papers? I am a child of thatcher, was too young to vote blair in, would have voted for him when I turned 18 but then he went to war with iraq and that destroyed hope for me. There has been no difference between right and left since then, no options for true left leaning people. Piglet seems to be suggesting even if a leader gets a big mandate they should be stopped from being the leader in case the electorate don't like it, how very democratic. Im a new member to the party voting for the first time and I have to say you are making yourselves look ridiculous. Instead of being pleased at a rise in membership and welcoming more young people that are becoming engaged in your party, you do everything you can to throw your toys out the pram and hark back to the glory days of tony blair, who thatcher described as her 'greatest achievement'. Labour support was dwindling in 2015, another generic leader with tory lite policies would not succeed in this election. Look at the crowds JC is attracting, his campaign is growing. But according to you if people join it and like his policies that is a cult. I've never heard of a political party who seems so adamant they don't want new members! Have a word with yourselves, we only have a few weeks to get the tories out.

Errr no I'm not. He is the Leader now. He shouldn't be the leader when Labour lose by a whopping majority.

He should take his responsibility when it happens. He won't though and his supporters seem to be getting their excuses out already. Everyone and everythings fault but dear leader.

It is a parliamentary party not a protest party. The point if it is getting into power!

Of course it's good there are new members however maybe some of those new members shouldn't have hounded people out of CLP meetings told people to fuck off and join the Tories and then act suprised when they do.

MagicTractor · 16/05/2017 10:07

Spoiling ballot papers achieves nothing.

You'd just as well save yourself the shoe leather tbh.

makeourfuture · 16/05/2017 10:15

He is the Leader now.

Stand with us! The fight is now.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/05/2017 10:16

Stand with us

Sorry no. I have given my reasons umpteen times as have others

Charmageddon · 16/05/2017 10:22

She's pompous, sneery & insufferably condescending - I am not a fan.

However, on that interview I thought she was brilliant. She performed a perfect takedown of someone who was blustering nonsense.

Still think she's a snob but appreciated her work in that interview.

derxa · 16/05/2017 10:27

I always laugh at 'Dear Leader' I can't help it Blush

ProphetOfDoom · 16/05/2017 10:38

Objectionable Thornberry - her eye rolling at people and her patronising manner - is one reason why I won't vote Labour.

But I do think the 'leaked' manifesto has given Corbyn an immense platform. People know about his policies - more than any other party. And if you don't think about how to pay for it all, they sound pretty tempting - especially after years of austerity and below inflation pay rises or pay cuts. The simple message of make the rich pay resonates.

May is riding on the electorate trusting her to see through Brexit. But relying on a single-issue is imo a mistake. Brexit fatigue has set in and we haven't even started negotiating yet. She's not looking strong or innovative enough on the NHS, on education or immigration & got sandbagged yesterday on welfare.

hoddtastic · 16/05/2017 11:45

this manifesto sounds amazing actually.

brasty · 16/05/2017 11:50

I don't even know who Emily Thornberry is. People don't actually decide who they are voting on the basis of stuff like that surely?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/05/2017 12:01

this manifesto sounds amazing actually.

With no costings at all of nationalisation and no promise of reversing cuts to Universal Credits or Tax Credits.

Opposition parties will pull it to bits.

MagicTractor · 16/05/2017 12:14

The manifesto promises a lot, of course it sounds amazing but I guess we'll have to see what the nuts and bolts are

Is it out today?

When you are as far behind as labour in the polls you can literally promise anything but I'm not sure how responsible it is to do that, if it's not costed properly the next leader is going to have to pull back a bit and then they are going to piss everybody off no end.

ProphetOfDoom · 16/05/2017 12:15

I think people do look at the potential cabinet line-up and base their voting decision on it, yes.

JamieXeed74 · 16/05/2017 12:23

Looks like Thornberry and Abbott have done the maths on the Labour manifesto costings.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/05/2017 12:28

Ha. Someone just said that on twitter.

ExplodedCloud · 16/05/2017 12:33

I'd rather have 50% of policies I do like than any amount of policies I don't though Magic :)

JustAnotherPoster00 · 16/05/2017 12:55

no promise of reversing cuts to Universal Credits or Tax Credits.

Social security: increase ESA by £30pw for those in the work-related activity group,

scrapbedroom tax, implement the PiP legal ruling, restore Housing Benefit for under 21s,

scrap Bereavement Support Payment reforms,

£2 billion of additional funding for Universal Credit for review of cuts and how best to reverse them,

uprate Carers’ Allowance to the level of JSA

silkybear · 16/05/2017 13:23

Fully costed manifesto just been launched, it's really good. Feel like there is some actual hope for the future after brexit.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/05/2017 13:27

Fully costed? So please tell me where the huge costings are for the nationalisations of railways and water then for example?

In fact there is no need to as they aren't there. They haven't costed it

GladAllOver · 16/05/2017 13:45

Yes, it looks like Abbott has done the arithmetic on this. Those all sound like good things to do, but there is no way they can all be paid for in the way they suggest.
Fully costed? Bollocks!

silkybear · 16/05/2017 13:46

They have announced it as fully costed, what do you want, mcdonnell to show you his workings out on the back? You either trust them to do it or not.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/05/2017 13:47

They have announced it as fully costed

They can announce free owls for everyone.

There is nothing in there that says how the things I have mentioned will be paid for.

You either trust them to do it or not.

Sorry but that doesn't wash for me and many many others.

ProphetOfDoom · 16/05/2017 14:03

They seem to have missed the elephant in the room: Brexit and minor matter of the leaving bill.

ExplodedCloud · 16/05/2017 14:53

Wonder if that's going to be in any of the manifestos prophet?
