Stoping any rises in pension age.

Taxing the top 5% to pay for oap social care.

No tax rises to people warning under 80k.

No to nuclear weapons.

Giving workers the right to strike.

Reverse legal aid cuts, giving the poorest people access to the legal system.

No target on immigration.

Banning driver only trains to keep the underground in safe hands.

Increased rights for the Roma.

No - I will not be voting Labour. Every election they bring out the same old manifesto - maybe in different words. Where is the money coming from to pay for all these grandiose ideas? Oh I know, tax 'the rich' - that would be a new idea. Carrying socialist ideas to their logical conclusion, why not just pay everybody exactly the same salary, no matter what job they do? That would certainly improve the economy and state of the country - why would anybody aspire to a career which required long hours, dedication and intelligence when they could just do a 9-5, not much effort required, job???

The Railways in China are state owned.

Yes, but run like corporations, which is not what Corbyn is suggesting. He is suggesting that they be renationalised in order to reduce fares thus restructuring them fundamentally. Which just makes them a money pit and makes the service unuseably bad, history suggests. It's not like this is untried.

"If you actually think about what's important to YOU and YOUR family and YOUR community"

then I would probably vote Tory.
If I voted purely on selfish principles, that is.
Jeremy Corbyn routinely undermines his colleagues & massively undermines his party. It's a clear record of doing the wrong thing.

I'm a Labour Party member. I managed to vote for them in local elections, at least.

I cant feed my children of £10 an hour. I am worried JC will sack me because I have a zero hours contract. So if I am sacked will I get one of these 100,000 new homes or are they all going to the Roma?

I do love it when the Tribunes of the People accuse the people who don't agree with them of being 'limited' and 'sheep'

Grin Me too. The foot stamping posters berating those who don't see things their way are unlikely to sway them.

I'm a high earner. I'd get up and leave. And my high earning DF and DB would too.

If I wanted to relive the 1970's when the rest of the world has moved on, I'd invest in a Delorean.

Good god the thread is a depressing echo chamber of some of the worst Left and right bullshit.

I'd wager at least half of you are paid to monitor mumsnet and other sites and jump in with this bullshit.

Who funds all this? Don't say high earners because that will push them all out of the uk

So they claim, because of course it's a good way to deter their Conservative paymasters from doing anything about their tax evasion. But I seriously question whether they actually would - unless, of course, Brexit pushes them out.

Shatners - agree with you, and babybarrister I think the middle ground is woefully underserved

I wish that there was some maturity in politics and future planning

I wish rather than using the NHS as some kind of poster child there was recognition that the NHS when initially created was a compromise (GPs being private) and had no future planning for increased demand either demographically (increasing elderly population) or due to improved treatment options

Wishing for a million things on a stick is easy. Implementing them is hard. I would prefer politicians have more foresight about the implications of their policies and try to do fewer things well

I actually quite like a lot of what's in the manifesto... But I don't have a great deal of confidence in Labour's ability to implement it.

Its ok its ok. Renatioanisation of the country wont cost us a penny. JC can just the back the railways, the energy companies, the royal mail and pretty much everything else. He doesn't need to pay for them we can just send the army in.

What, he is disbanding the army, seriously? OFFS

"Giving workers the right to strike."

I thought workers already have the right to strike - isn't it regularly in the news about train workers striking? Also, I'm sure teachers do because my children had to have a day off school when they did.

Have I misunderstood this?

Recent legislation makes it a lot more difficult to go on strike.

Ceto - unfortunately some of them are nasty people though. I've had to deal with several evictions and the mess and the noise and the violence that goes on at the sites can be horrific. A recent clean up from one of their illegal sites cost the charity who owned it almost £100k. Then there's other travellers who cause problems and it all gets mixed up in people's minds as the same issue, and gives all Roma a bad reputation.

It will NEVER justify racism - but it can be a way of life that causes problems for the legal land owner or people who live nearby.

or gruffalos you could look at it another way

I want the country to spend more than it has
I want to raise taxes so all the high earners move elsewhere taking their 25% of the tax burden with them
I want to be able to retire at 60 even though 60 is the new 50 and I'm perfectly capable of working for longer in support of an ageing population who are going to continue staying healthier for longer and longer
I want 10,000 more policemen AND WOMEN on the streets and I'm going to pay them just under £3 a year. (Thanks Abbott!)
I want to just keep going and going with the behemoth that is the NHS without any sort of critical review into how it is run and how savings can be made - even though it is tasked with acheiving far more for a far larger population than was ever imagined at inception
I want want want and I don't care where the money comes
I want re-nationalise the rail service and go back to hideous, dirty trains that never ran on time with no recompense
I want I want I want

Well I'm sorry but I want never gets. The sensible people don't want it.
