Half a stone in 4 weeks?

missb00 · 08/05/2017 08:23

Can I ask for your tips on how to achieve this please?! I'm going away in 3 weeks and 6 days and am sitting about a stone over where I'd like to be, however shifting 7lb would make me feel much more comfortable. I'm 5'5 and currently 11st 4lb, so not unachievable!

P.s. I know crash dieting is bad and i'll put it all back on again when I get back, but lets ignore that for a moment.

Thank you PersianCatLady Wink

I have tried SW before and couldn't get my head around the 'unlimited pasta and potatoes' rule, along with the syns I found it really difficult to be honest with myself, I'm better off having none then having any at all or I tend to go overboard!

Have been using MFP and only eating when really hungry, even then its either rice cakes with a bit of hummous/light philly, or plain chicken as snacks, and low calorie meal replacement shakes Blush for breakfast and lunch. Tea is gammon and veg. Also swapped sugar in my tea for sweetener. It's working for me so far, I do feel less bloated even if it was only water weight and I'm determined to get back into the 10 stone bracket in the next 2 weeks! Thanks for everyones responses Grin

If you want a quick fix then green smoothies does it for me. I'm super lazy and don't make them - just buy the Innocent "Gorgeous Greens" ones...they come in 750ml bottles and I drink between 2-3 a day. I've lost 7lbs in a week doing that ....
Swap the evening smoothie for a chicken breast and veggies if need be...

If you want to go about it a little bit healthier, cut out anything "white" - refined flours, pastas, sugar, alcohol. Keep the carbs to under 100g a day, loads of veg, chicken, eggs, ham, lean cuts of meat....

If you want to go super extreme, keep the carbs under 20g - if you can keep that up...you're a better person than me Confused

Mollie the smoothies sounds good, maybe I'll try that for a couple of days just before I go to keep the bloat at bay, does it work out expensive?

That does sound extreme, I'd probably be more comfortable chopping a limb off than keeping -20g

I have been using MFP to lose a bit of weight and two other people I know are doing SW.

I am losing quite a bit of weight doing MFP but the two on SW eat loads of pasta and rice and then say that I am only losing weight because I have a faster metabolism.

I don't, it is just that I am being more conscious of calories.

Good luck.

SO you just have 3 smoothies a day for 7 days and no proper food??

I lost 3 lb per week on sliming world . This included a daily treat of gin , Curley whirly...

I have been doing the 16:8 fast for a couple of weeks and have lost 2kg so far. Basically, you do all your eating in one eight hour window each day, so for me I have breakfast/lunch at 11am, eat as normal until 7pm, then nothing after that. I just drink tea and water during the 16 hours, and I don't mind feeling hungry as I know it won't be long til food time again (I do like food) I'm finding it much easier to stick to than the 5:2 fast, I was crawling up the walls on the fast days and they seemed to go on forever.

HomityBabbityPie · 09/05/2017 17:33

I thought on 16:8 you're also meant to eat low carb?

Notonyournellly · 09/05/2017 17:48

Perhaps it depends which diet plan you follow: the one I read about said you can eat what you like, but in moderation. I have been doing that and it's worked so far. I think the main thing is to have a properly empty stomach for a good length of time so you use up fat reserves more quickly.

Mollie85 · 14/05/2017 15:50

Depends what my particular need is - if it's a quick fix and I want to drop for a particular reason (i.e. - bought a dress in a 14 which was more like a 12 and I had ten days to get into it) then smoothies only, yes.

Also to clarify, "3 smoothies a day" is not what I said. I said I buy three bottles at 750ml each and have those - we are oftentimes talking over 2 liters a day.

The original question was dropping a fair bit of weight in a short period of time and asking for experience on that.

We all know that to lose weight and maintain weight loss we have to eat less, move more, etc and try to keep to a nice steady maintainable weekly or monthly weight loss. To that end I would have recommended, tons of green veg, proteins, moderate exercise, etc.... Smile

I think half a stone in four weeks is eminently doable. I lost ten pounds in my first month at Slimming World (it did slow down a bit after that), but I think any of the plans people have mentioned will work if you stick to them.
