Half a stone in 4 weeks?

missb00 · 08/05/2017 08:23

Can I ask for your tips on how to achieve this please?! I'm going away in 3 weeks and 6 days and am sitting about a stone over where I'd like to be, however shifting 7lb would make me feel much more comfortable. I'm 5'5 and currently 11st 4lb, so not unachievable!

P.s. I know crash dieting is bad and i'll put it all back on again when I get back, but lets ignore that for a moment.

SLIMMING WORLD - I lost a stone in a month and was only 10.5 to start. Plus it encourages eating real home made food (if you follow it properly)!

NorksAreMessy · 08/05/2017 09:20

No sugar
No alcohol

I have just done this in two weeks.
The sugar craving goes away after one day, and you wonder how you could ever have eaten something so SWEET!
I am not a huge drinker in general, but I found that the alcohol let in the 'oh, fuck it, gimme an ice cream' gremlin. :)

MissBax · 08/05/2017 09:21

redpriest 1000 cals a day is not healthy

DontFundHate · 08/05/2017 09:21

Absolutely do able. I lost 5 and a half lb in my first week of slimming world. You could easily lose say 10lb in the 4 weeks if you stayed on plan. I was similar height and weight to you. Best thing I ever did!

DontFundHate · 08/05/2017 09:22

PS I joined online so no need to go to group etc

SemiNormal · 08/05/2017 09:23

Jillian Michaels really is fantastic! I find 30 Day Shred amazing but a bit wearing on my knees, I prefer Ripped in 30 as more floor work and less impact on my knees but still an intense workout.

Also YES to MyFitnessPal! It's brilliant and when you pair it with doing exercise it makes you want to weep seeing just how much exercise you need to do to burn off a Mars bar or similar so you avoid touching them in the first place (well I do when I use MFP).

missb00 · 08/05/2017 09:24

DontFund how much is it to join?

missb I'd recommend actually going to session if you do join slimming World as you get great recommendations and it's proven better weight loss for those who attend :) have you got instagram? Search some slimming World profiles and you'll see the amazing weight loss and great meals they cook!

SolomanDaisy · 08/05/2017 09:28

If you do the Shred, you can look like you've lost way more than half a stone in four weeks!

TopDoggityDog · 08/05/2017 09:28

What about a high intensity workout video. Years ago I lost all my baby weight by doing one everyday.

nickdrakeslovechild · 08/05/2017 09:28

Yes 100% achievable on Exante. Its a vlcd with high protein, you may even lose nearer to a stone! Its on line so buy the shakes, soups, bars then join the facebook group for motivation.

MrsCharlesBrandon · 08/05/2017 09:30

I was going to suggest slimming world too, lost 13.5lb in my first 2 weeks!

FizzyGreenWater · 08/05/2017 09:39
  • low carb, especially wheat. Can you switch to rye bread, oatcakes with a bit of cheese on etc for those times when you really need a carb?
  • exercise. Even a brisk walk taken at that time when you would normally start craving that treat!
  • drink water if you feel hungry or snacky before you reach for food.
redpriestandmozart · 08/05/2017 09:39

redpriest 1000 cals a day is not healthy for somebody totally sedentary in a wheelchair for a short time to reel back from over eating it is fine. I did not advocate it for anyone. I said in my post FOR ME that is how I do it.

GoulashSoup · 08/05/2017 09:43

I would do a combo of lots of the above suggestions.

Log on MFP
Drink lots of water
Eat lots of fruit and veg (you will lose weight just clearing your guts out)
Try to do exercise, walk as much as you can (activate the pedometer on your phone and link it to MFP), and fit in short high intensity workouts where you can, such as Jillian Mitchells.
Do 10 squats every time you go to the loo (will be lots if you're drinking all the water)

I would also consider a routine of body brushing, moisturiser etc.
You could do one of those wrap treatments.

I'm also trying to tidy other things such as doing a footner. Aiming to have nice nails etc. All just a confidence boost.

My holiday isn't till August and I'm three months post partum ebf so not really wanting to cut calories below 2000. For me it is more about owning my own milky body!

HalleLouja · 08/05/2017 09:44

I am doing something called Jump n Juice. Its basically low carb / sugar so no bread, rice, oats for the first week then it gets less strict. I lost 4 lbs in the first week and don't have too much to lose. Its £5 a month and the first two weeks are free to see if you like it.

I thought it would be awful but you get used to it.

sadie9 · 08/05/2017 09:48

What I do is eat normally only slight less of it and cut out eating between meals and all junk food.
I have lost close to 1 stone in the past 2 months by stopping eating between meals and cutting out chocolate and chocolate products completely.

Breakfast: 20g of Bran Flakes with low fat milk. Mid morning A banana.

Lunch: Sandwich any filling you want except for cheese, only just use ONE slice of bread not two. Go easy on the mayo or butter.

Mid afternoon: cup of tea and 1 Marie Biscuit (Marie biscuit 24 calories). Nibble the biscuit and put it down between bites.

Dinner: A dessertspoon of pasta or potato or rice. Loads of veg. Lean meat. Very little gravy, like 2 teaspoons. Put loads of mushrooms and carrots in casseroles, spag bol etc and eat those instead of fatty meat part.

Dessert: 2 Marie Biscuits instead of dessert. Or half a cereal bar with nuts (anything about 50 calories really).

No cream sauces. No chocolate or crisps.
1 or two glasses of wine on weekend nights, no snacks with the drinks.

HardcoreLadyType · 08/05/2017 09:49

I have been doing Weight Watchers since early March, and have lost just under 2lb, on average, per week. So that would be half a stone in a month.

It can make you a bit obsessive, as you have to track everything you eat, but its quite good for enabling you to think about what you are
eating, and what you could swap for those unhealthy snacks you reach for without thinking. (So, in the mid afternoon, instead of crisps or a biscuit, some crunchy pickled vegetables or a banana.)

It's quite simple to follow, and basically, if you eat a load of lean meat and vegetables, you can eat loads, but you can also factor in things like cheese, ans sugary or starchy things, so long as you don't eat too much of them. So you don't really have to give up any foods, entirely.

I have just been using the app, not attending meetings. You do have to pay for it, and obviously you could do similar without the subscription, but I find having the app makes me stick to it better than just knowing what I should be doing. (Which, frankly, we all do, really.)

specialsubject · 08/05/2017 09:50

Not a crash diet, just eat less and move a bit more. Also don't eat shit - smoothies , cereal bars, diet foods, low fat versions, sugar shakes.

Why will you put it on when you get bsck.?

PNGirl · 08/05/2017 09:52

Yes, Jillian is like HIIT. I think it's 3 minutes strength, 2 cardio and 1 abs repeated - can't quite remember!

missb00 · 08/05/2017 10:01

special not necessarily put it back on, but 2 weeks all inclusive and lying on a beach 7 hours a day I probably won't keep up the weight loss 😉 Just looking for a quick fix now and then I'll up my calories and lose in a more sensible way when I get back. Thanks for everyone's suggestions so far!!

@specialsubject Why are smoothies on the shit list, please?

missb00 · 08/05/2017 10:14

TheGentleMoose I would guess from all the natural sugars in fruit maybe?

PersianCatLady · 08/05/2017 10:30

Why are smoothies on the shit list, please?
SW don't like smoothies because often people don't drink the fibrous parts of the fruit which you really need so that you don't get constipated while you are dieting. Also smoothies are no where near as filling as eating the fruit as it comes.

I have read that generally it is better to eat fruit as it comes rather than make it into smoothies.

When my friend was in the chemotherapy ward at the hospital as an inpatient the nurses used Nutribullets to make really high calorie smoothies just out of fruit to help the patients who were not eating other food.

These smoothies were an easy way of getting calories down the throats of sick people, perhaps that is why they aren't recommended by SW??

TheGentleMoose · 08/05/2017 10:45

@PersianCatLady Thanks for the explanation.

I'm a big fan of smoothies - don't think that I will be stopping them anytime soon. It's such an easy way to get 1 serve of greens, and three plus servings of different coloured fruit into you in the morning. I do consume the entire mixture though.
