Come out, come out wherever you are!
I know it will mean you will be attacked and preached at, you will be told you are rich, uncaring and hate everyone except yourself, but will anyone stand with me and admit to planning on voting Conservative on June 8?
I can't be the only one surely? I didn't vote the Conservatives in by myself in 2015!

I cannot imagine that a black person complaining of racism within an organisation and that of its leader would be called a plant, sneered at for raising a trope, told they are being brainwashed, gently explained at that actually the leader didn't mean it that way anyway. That another black person who felt on the end of a racist remark was wrong, the remark wasn't racist. May I ask what is different about Jewish people and anti semetism that you feel you can discuss it in this way?

Well I'm not going to defend myself from most of your accusation because I never actually said most of what you are accusing me of.

But I would say the same thing to someone who felt that a remark made against them was racist or sexist for that matter. and that is that some things are very obviously racist, sexist or anti-semetic, others are open to interpretation. I stand by what I said that in my opinion the comment made to Ruth Smeeth was open to interpretation. Saying someone was 'hand in hand' with the Telegraph does not necessarily denote an anti-semetic comment. It might do, depending on context, but it is not automatically so imho.

His hard core followers think he has so much integrity for shunning cameras and the press

Which just leaves the rest of us feeling like we're not worth addressing or reaching. We're not worthy, if we were socialist enough to be worthy of being addressed we'ld be clapping and cheering already.

TessTube · 10/05/2017 14:18

Oh god not that cos he's a bit scruffy again Sea. I thought you and I had moved past that.

Oh come on Tinsel, that's an extrapolation too far.
He is obviously used to addressing a crowd and started his speech facing them, then his aides gesture to him to address the cameras instead. I really can't see why you would have hurt feelings around this, it's not about not being worthy enough.
My point was the media leapt on it as further proof that JC is a silly codger who can't even get a simple message on camera right.

I know right?
Borris is scruffy
T.M. is REALLY scruffy
c'mon where are all these chic Tory MPs that we're apparently voting in based on style? LOL

TessTube · 10/05/2017 14:21

John McDonnell doing a speech in front of communist flags saying "he didn't know they were there" is no one managing them?

That's just pure gold for the red tops.

That type of thing.

Boris looks like he's slept in a skip.

SeaWitchly · 10/05/2017 14:22

Huh Tess? I think this thread has way moved past that Grin

TinselTwins · 10/05/2017 14:23

Oh come on Tinsel, that's an extrapolation too far.

No it's not
Corbyn supporters regularly pontificate about how much integrety he has for shunning the press, so don't BS me now and say that he doesn't, he visibly despises reporters and doesn't seem to see the point in addressing the country as a whole. Great PM material!

TessTube · 10/05/2017 14:25

I haven't RTFT btw. Grin

Fanjo, your first post on this thread was to accuse me of being a plant and "shoe horning" in anti semitism. I'm not attacking you, I don't feel like I'm trying to attack you at all.... I'm trying to explain how that made me feel. How it feels to raise concerns about anti-semitism and have them so summarily dismissed. Likewise, Seawitchly your first comments were "that's ridiculous, absolute TOSH" about the Labour party being anti Semitic in any way.

Being so dismissive about anti semitism concerns raised by the Jewish community.....and it's not just me, concerns about the Labour Party are a hot topic at the moment, right down to our founding and governing organisations like the Board of Deputies..... is anti Semitic in itself.

Anyway, I've really banged on now. Will try to stop. Still rooting for Lord Vetinari.

I heard Corbyn on the radio just now and he sounded very good as did May. I think they are both good people. I don't think there is much chance Labour will win thankfully but I do want everyone to vote.

Taxing people with a gross wage of £80k more when they already pay over 63% direct tax not too far above that (when they lose the whole personal allowance) under current law is not unusual for labour policy - taxing people until the pips squeak. It is not a good move.
I am not against them raising capital gains tax rates. i think it's confusing that when Lawon so well moved top rate income tax to 40% and capital gains tax (but with indexation allowance for inflation to 40% which was really good later that was changed and now people pay 10% CGT on sales of businesses, 18% on sales of other assets and 28% on sales of properties other than their home there is a massive incentive to make income into capital which distorts things.

Was referring to your earlier remarks regarding a black person saying they had been racially abused. I bet you wouldn't immediately tell them are you sure you were?

A Jewish person knows bloody well what someone means when they make an accusation about Jews "being in league with the media". This is thinly disguised code for some pretty hateful stuff.
Just because you can't see it - it isn't part of your experience- doesn't mean it is any less hateful.

I am referring to the allegedly benign incident that took place at the launch of Labour's antisemitism report.
People were accused of being over sensitive at being offended by what was said.
JC , who should be well aware as to why it was offensive, did nothing about it.
