Come out, come out wherever you are!
I know it will mean you will be attacked and preached at, you will be told you are rich, uncaring and hate everyone except yourself, but will anyone stand with me and admit to planning on voting Conservative on June 8?
I can't be the only one surely? I didn't vote the Conservatives in by myself in 2015!

Not surprised to read in the papers today that Corbyn has said he will not be stepping down if (Hmm) Labour loses the election

Of course he won't he wants to change the party so will hold on until the conference when changes will be made to suit his ideas

It's becoming clear that his true concern is the Labour Party and his ideology not the disadvantaged in our society

Carollocking · 09/05/2017 07:32

Not one party has a leader I want to vote for.
nor are the local candidates any that I feel will help in any way been as lame as there party leaders.
on top of that seriously lame policies that in reality say we have no idea what we want to do so we'll just try and struggle through.
So non of the above has got to be the answer

Carollocking · 09/05/2017 07:36

But I also In answer your question do not want labour to win but who I want to win is just a foggy haze as we'd be currently better off without politicians,a period like the belgiums went through would be great in my opinion

Carollocking · 09/05/2017 07:38

We should have a box on our forms for Non of the above

Gwenhwyfar · 09/05/2017 07:41

"Our industry (farming) is in for a shitstorm in the next few years and I can't see anyone other than the Tories bringing us through it."

It's in for a shitstorm because the Tories want to have a hard Brexit!

Gwenhwyfar · 09/05/2017 07:44

"better off without politicians,a period like the belgiums went through would be great in my opinion"

Belgium was hardly without politicians when there was no central government. There was still a caretaker government and still lots of things being decided by the regional parliament.

I agree with the pp who says we need a stiffer upper lip tbh.
Posters are coming under fire on here for using anecdotal examples of people 'playing' the system, but are using equally anecdotal examples of people 'failed' by the system. Surely we can all agree that that both exist?
Can we agree that everyone refused PIP is not a chronically disabled single parent living in an overcrowded damp house? I had someone work for me who was refused PIP after receiving its forerunner for 10 years. He was doing a semi-manual job for me for three hours a day (all he was allowed to do on the benefit I believe) but was always after overtime. There's another anecdote, but why should he get benefit for life when he was quite capable of working? It made no sense and needed reform.
Right-wingers are too keen to dismiss all as benefit scroungers but the left wing really do need to get a grip.
I was on a thread last week when someone claimed that they knew somone who was so poor they fed their children dog food. I said that although I didn't dispute that it happened, I would question in the UK in 2017 someone had so little income they has to to that. What they did with the income was the crux of the matter, but everyone got enough money to eat. I came under fire immediately, but I think sometimes things need to be said instead of hsnd-wringing, tea and sympathy.

OP, nurses amongst others are - as a fact not anecdotal- using foodbanks because contrary to your incorrectly held belief, not everyone can afford food. There are working people who cannot afford to eat in this country. It's disgraceful.

Radishal · 09/05/2017 08:09

What other kind of Brexit is there other than a hard Brexit? Seriously, what did Leavers think they were voting for?

cathf · 09/05/2017 08:12

Kirim, really? Starting salary £21,692 and they can't afford food? Hmm

Carollocking · 09/05/2017 08:13

Hard brexit is the only answer, say bye bye and leave don't discuss anything till paid our fees and we've left then the ball is far more in our play than there's.
When BMW ,VW and numerous others can't export the cars ,and all the other things we import they'll do a deal that we can be happy with.no deal will be good if they have the upper hand while we are still part of the eec.blackmail is very easy when they have the upper hand i.e. The immediate rubbish by Spain over Gibraltar and lots more.

QuiteUnfitBit · 09/05/2017 08:13

I'm a remainer, but if you go into negotiations with a soft Brexit as your position, surely you're on to a loser before you even begin. No-one ever gets all their demands in a deal. You have to have somewhere to negotiate to.

Radishal · 09/05/2017 08:16

There is nothing other than "who will be the best Brexit negotiator " in this election. Anything about improving social standards is predicated on us getting a good deal that doesn't screw up our economy too much. That's it. Sorry. Nothing else is relevant.

Carollocking · 09/05/2017 08:16

Can't afford food if want buy from Harrods but Morrisons I'm sure they can manage on 21 k plus

cathf · 09/05/2017 08:17

I should add that we as a family have spent the last ten years earning a lot less that that as a family as we established our business, and we have never gone without food. It makes no sense but it Fies fit a certain agenda.

OP posts:
Carollocking · 09/05/2017 08:20

Radishal. You are correct , and truthfully I don't see any of them been that great as we have people negotiating that didn't want to leave so it's a bit like leaving your fat juicy warthog in care and protection of a lion

JanetBrown2015 · 09/05/2017 08:40

Quite, I agree. I am a remainer too. I do a lot of negotiating for work. It is complex. You certainly concede things at the start.

As for food there is a msasive obesity problem amongst NHS nurses. I doubt many of them don't have enough food to be honest and people often have problems not because benefits or salaries are too low to buy food but because of mismanaging money as we all know - it hits people at all income levels or at least for a vast range of problems. Nurse salaries being too low to feed the nurses is not the main issue by any means.

makeourfuture · 09/05/2017 08:42

Can I ask you some questions?

1 do you think labour will win the next election?

Polling has been problematic as of late, but even given that, it looks like the numbers are not in Labour's favour.

2 do you think Corbyn, Abbott etc are sensible credible balanced leaders?

As credible as any. Certainly as credible as the regime in power. For example, the Brexit referendum was an act of utter, historic idiocy. Not necessarily the issue itself, but the total and continued lack of any sort of rational plan.

3 do you not see that labour are being torn apart again by militant tendency/momentum?

I am uncomfortable with the comparison between Momentum and Militant. Momentum is not particularly Marxist.

Too, and I think this is worth consideration, Ed Milliband (who I thought was treated poorly by the press), upon election stated that he was going to take some time to allow the party to examine its goals. This never happened. The left of the party was ignored. This was the time to sort out the problems we are seeing now.

Isn't there some way we lefties can have a voice in the party? I mean a party that is defined as a left-of-centre party?

kirinm · 09/05/2017 09:07

The ignorance here scares me. Honestly, Tory supporters deserve any shit coming their way. And unless you're super rich, it will be coming your way.

makeourfuture · 09/05/2017 09:09

And unless you're super rich, it will be coming your way.

I think so too.

Radishal · 09/05/2017 09:09

Someone on 21k who can't afford food is either as a result of bad luck or bad choices. Bad luck I have sympathy for but hopefully an ok wage will start to help. Bad choices? Not sure that's my problem after a bit of i initial help out of compassion.
My mum was an immigrant nurse in the 50s and had to steal bread off the ward to eat. Nothing like that exists now for nurses.

JanetBrown2015 · 09/05/2017 09:10

make, it's always been a problem for Labour - how left should it be (and the Tories have a similar probelm - like Labour they tend to win when they take the centre ground as most people in the UK are centre ground people). When Corbyn was elected that was the first time my older son had considered voting Labour rather than say Green. Hoever there are not enough people like my son or Corbyn in the UK for a left wing Labour party to get elected in my view. As a Tory I have always though we are very very lucky indeed to have Corbyn as the opposite as it may well mean 10 years of Tory rule.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 09/05/2017 09:12

How nice.

If you are going down that road, so does anyone who supports Labour under Corbyn.

Radishal · 09/05/2017 09:12

Bad stuff is coming everyone 's way because of Brexit. The idea that Corbyn can save us from it with his inability to do basic sums is sadly laughable.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 09/05/2017 09:14

He was doing a semi-manual job for me for three hours a day (all he was allowed to do on the benefit I believe) but was always after overtime.

Incorrect.

PIP/DLA is not means tested. You can work full time and still get the full entitlement.
