Hmm

So condescending and smug, and usually accompanying comments which completely miss whatever point is being made.

OP posts:

Could someone tell me what's HTH means? It's annoyed me for ages

JaneJeffer · 05/05/2017 21:39

Hope This Helps HTH Smile

BillyButtfuck · 05/05/2017 22:03

✊️💦

PoorYorick · 05/05/2017 22:08

The biscuit is the MN equivalent of "cool story bro", or in other words, "that's nice dear".

Imbroglio · 05/05/2017 22:15

I love Hmm. So expressive.

birdspooping · 05/05/2017 22:16

I agree! If you don't have anything nice to say then say nothing at all. Or at least end it with a cheekyGrin

Imbroglio · 06/05/2017 13:23

I wish there was a [marmite] emoticon.

I can't see why Wink is smug 😏 The only time I used it was in a thread about dogs dislikes. My dog gets in a paroxysm of rage every time he spots a black object . He is black Wink

StarHeartDiamond · 06/05/2017 13:45

It's my favourite! Really conveys a certain tone Smile

My second favourite is Confused

But the Hmm face is the best.

Hmm
DonaldStott · 06/05/2017 13:47

I hate Smile

Usually put by someone who thinks they know better than PP's. It's like a really fucking smug full stop.

Rachel0Greep · 06/05/2017 14:02

Imagine if you could use Hmm on work emails Grin

On another site that I'm on, one poster seems to think by including winks etc at the end of her almost invariably aggressive posts enhances her point in some way. She is banned now though.

CoolioAndTheGang · 06/05/2017 14:05

I use it if I'm reading an op or comment and I automatically Hmm or Confused
I use it sometimes if I think the op might be a troll but very rarely. Mostly I think the op is a bit 'out there' or goady.

CoolioAndTheGang · 06/05/2017 14:07
Biscuit says a lot more than 'no comment' most of the time imo
longestlurkerever · 06/05/2017 14:10

I hate the raised eyebrow smiley too. So passive aggressive. Especially when accompanied by advice.

putonyourdancingshoes · 06/05/2017 16:02

Ahhh thanks yorick!

CoolioAndTheGang · 07/05/2017 01:00

What does the box with the X mean?

TheoriginalLEM · 07/05/2017 01:14

The Biscuit is because gordon brown would not disclose his favourite biscuit during a webchat (or was it all he wanted to talk about? )

Gin is gin, introduced in honour of a wonderful mnetter who sadly passed away in January this year (she would have loved the irony as im sure she was a rum drinker??)

Hmm is my favourite and i wish i had a paddle with this on that i could hold up in real life, it would save me so much internal angst!!

TheClaws · 07/05/2017 05:32

When used sparingly and correctly, Hmm is a beautiful thing. In my head, it replaces "Really??" or "You say what?"

Imbroglio · 08/05/2017 06:28

I want to know about the box with the x, too.

FrenchLavender · 08/05/2017 06:32

YABU. the Hmm emoticon speaks volumes. It saves an awful lot of typing. If you don't want to see it then it's best not to have shit opinions.
