Hmm

So condescending and smug, and usually accompanying comments which completely miss whatever point is being made.

Smile is the most patronizing, smug, iwannaslapitoffyourface, annoying emoticon out there.

Hmm is funny.

LivingInMidnight · 05/05/2017 19:22

smoke I think I use it in real life too often tbh

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 05/05/2017 19:23

I wish there was a eye rolly one. But in the meantime Hmm

caz323 · 05/05/2017 19:25

I can't do that expression either in real life.
Fucking botox! Hmm

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/05/2017 19:26

I'm a bit Hmm about Confused. I find this the most patronising.

HTH = hope that helps. (HTH).

I only use Smile when trying to restore peace, to agree, empathise etc.

QuietNameChange · 05/05/2017 19:26

Hmm is my favourite smiley. Also Confused

HappyFlappy · 05/05/2017 19:27

Love that shoulder shrug Midnight

I can't raise one eyebrow either Smoke. I can't even wink (except with both eyes at once. However, I can roll my tongue both ways, but there isn't an emotion for that. Hmm

AlwaysTheWinner · 05/05/2017 19:31

YABU. Hmm is my favourite smiley and I wish I could use it on Twitter, in text messages, in work emails...

Nationcreationbusstation · 05/05/2017 19:31

It's when it's used in serious situations that I hate it so much! xx

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 05/05/2017 19:31

🙄 my most favourite emoji for all responses

LuluJakey1 · 05/05/2017 19:38

I like it but I have no idea what emoticons actually mean so use them quite randomly. I interpret that one as 'I am a bit puzzled'.
I sent FIL a message and put 💩 at the end which I thought was a little smiley mountain. DH tells me it is a pile of shit. 🙄

bibbitybobbityyhat · 05/05/2017 19:41

I quite like Hmm if used sparingly. Same with all the smileys and the strikeout function on Mumsnet.

Infact, I wish I could have all these from Mumsnet on my phone. I hate the Samsung Galaxy ones. Quite like the gmail ones.

DontBeASalmon · 05/05/2017 19:41

Could anyone be so kind and tell me what these mean!
Gin
and
Easter Smile
and
Bear (is it "Pom bear"?)

I have completely missed the threads where they come from, so I am very Confused Grin

WorknameJimEllis · 05/05/2017 19:44
Tardis
CoraPirbright · 05/05/2017 19:44

I like it! It's the face my son makes when I am yet again trying to smother him in hugs and hoover the skin off his cheek with my lips.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 05/05/2017 19:49

The Mumsnet one that winds me up is Biscuit but it's because people don't know what it means and use it incorrectly.

73kittycat73 · 05/05/2017 19:53

Are they available on MN originalbiglymavis, or is it the device you are using?

73kittycat73 · 05/05/2017 19:57

DontBeASalmon, I believe the bottle (First smilie.) is Gin. Not sure on the other two. Is the smile with ears an Easter bunny thing?

KimKardashiansArse · 05/05/2017 19:57

This: Confused is much worse

Smile

This passive aggressive fucker is the worst by a mile.

Allthebestnamesareused · 05/05/2017 20:01
Hmm
DontBeASalmon · 05/05/2017 20:02

thanks kittycat Smile

(is the smile really offensive? I thought people were just being nice. Context dependant)
