To think people aren't too tired just lazy... dinner

I get that once a week maybe or even twice, people have had long days, myself included, out since 8/9am this morning, and get home not bothered to cook a big meal.... though isn't it just like washing? We need to eat, we need to wash, myself included i fell into a rut of eating crap (oven baked) food like breaded chicken oven chips, beans etc cause i was ''too tired'' to cook dinner, when in a matter of fact i was just lazy....

Seen someone comment back to something similar earlier, saying 'bloody hell people nowadays are too tired to cook a meal for themselves' what is the world turning into?
Not going against anybody, i've been guilty of it too and i can admit it was pure laziness.. it takes only a few minutes to throw together a quick/fresh/homemade meal..

my sister is still like that, 5 nights out of 7 she's too 'tired' to cook, even if i offer shed rather buy a takeaway or eat a disgusting cheap oven pizza :S ( i know loads are nice)

No, it's not just you expat. I can't stand omelettes. I'd rather go hungry than eat a scuffy omelette. Then again, i'm lazy and throw breaded frozen things in the oven most nights. Don't care either Grin

KRG13 · 03/05/2017 16:30

Which lazy bastards go to BED?

ExConstance · 03/05/2017 16:30

I cook from scratch every night except for Wednesday when we all fend for ourselves due to evening classes etc. I batch cook at weekends, have some very quick recipes such as quornchilli/pasta /stirfry and various vegetable curries. I quite agree OP not much trouble to do nice fresh food if you plan ahead.

skilledintheartofnothing · 03/05/2017 16:30

You would love me, Night on my own last night. Spent a good 20 mins staring blankly into kitchen cupboards / fridge and then said f*ck it and ate a bowl of coco pops and a mug of tea.

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/05/2017 16:30

we need a Big Fat Hairy Bollocks emoticon

I've eaten bull's testicle. I wouldn't really recommend it. Thankfully it wasn't hairy though.

Ulysses · 03/05/2017 16:31

Sorry that's obviously your recipe for risotto.

witsender · 03/05/2017 16:31

I'm both tonight. Kids can take care of themselves.

PickleSarnie · 03/05/2017 16:32

You do know that this isn't risotto right?!

Real risotto takes at least an hour. I get home at 8pm after being up since 6am. Getting kids ready, commuting, working and then commuting again. I'm not going to stand and stir for one of my only 2 spare hours.

I "cook from scratch" unless I'm eating leftovers. But "cooking" involves a lot of salads these days. If that makes me lazy, I don't have the time to give a shit.

Ex Given I would rather stick pins in my eyes than eat anything you have listed, it's not that helpful. As well as hating rice and pasta, I loathe curry, chilli, quorn, real mince, etc

And what's with batch cooking and freezing? You have to take it out to defrost, reheat it and its grim as fuck Confused

ThymeLord · 03/05/2017 16:33

I must admit I go to bed KRG but I barely sleep. I've perfected the art, over many years, of keeping one hand out of bed to whisk/throw something together for the next day. My other hand is of course busy satisfying my hard working, great with the kids, helps me out with housework every so often man. You have got to stay on top of these things. It's vital.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2017 16:33

'No, it's not just you expat. I can't stand omelettes. I'd rather go hungry than eat a scuffy omelette. Then again, i'm lazy and throw breaded frozen things in the oven most nights. Don't care either grin'

I have a Sistema noodle bowl. It's great and goes in the microwave. I put in a brick of ramen noodle, some seasoning, frozen veg and about 300mL boiling water. Nuke for 2 mins. Stir. Nuke another minute. Leave to stand, and then crumble in a tin of tuna or chicken. Mmm.

I'm fucking lazy and if it's a Friday or Sat. night, I might just go for liquid dinner.

user1493759849 · 03/05/2017 16:33

But 'exconstance' if people don't want to do this, that's up to them and sod all to do with the OP or anyone else. Why do people who cook from scratch, pour scorn on people who don't, like they're better than them?

And like I said, how does she have time to even post on here, with the 60 hours a week she works with her 2 jobs, her college course, and her cook from scratch meals?!

user1484578224 · 03/05/2017 16:34

Risotto takes 30 mins minimum. [helpful]

user1493759849 · 03/05/2017 16:35

Where's the OP gone?

I saw that a rather unpleasant post she put was deleted, and she's not posted since that happened.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2017 16:37

'Which lazy bastards go to BED?'

Well, I do but it's for my fourth job as a prossie so I can earn and be in bed at the same time. None of this lazy arse sleeping bollocks.

user1484578224 · 03/05/2017 16:37

is an air fryer like running around the house with a fish finger hoping it cooks?

ThymeLord · 03/05/2017 16:37

I like the look of that!

GoldilocksAndTheThreePears · 03/05/2017 16:37

Hmm I'm really bored today. I wonder what will make people annoyed... buggies on buses..... P&C parking..... dummies.... giving baby neat vodka in a bottle..... too pedestrian. I KNOW! I'll call everyone lazy! Sweet that's entertainment for today sorted Grin

PickAChew · 03/05/2017 16:37

It's the newer generation that are leaving life skills/ day to day activities behind

This 47 year old doesn't go out to work and is having a waitrose curry for dinner tonight. Last I checked, it wasn't made of plastic or anything.

What is it with all the slave to the kitchen threads, today?

WhooooAmI24601 · 03/05/2017 16:38

I cook most days purely because I enjoy cooking but today have a hideous ear infection so am on the sofa in the foetal position while the DCs eat as many digestive biscuits as they can find in the house. I don't even give a shit if that's lazy; I've spent the day in school, come home shattered and will probably phone for a Dominos pizza. The DCs love it and call it "Daddy's Away Dinner" because we have it as a treat when DH works away.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2017 16:38

It's not fresh if it's been in the freezer, though, Ex. Boak @ quorn chilli. I'd rather just skip the meal and go to bed.

cloud it actually was 😂

I made up for it by letting DS have his choice of instant noodles for dinner though 😉
