To think people aren't too tired just lazy... dinner

I get that once a week maybe or even twice, people have had long days, myself included, out since 8/9am this morning, and get home not bothered to cook a big meal.... though isn't it just like washing? We need to eat, we need to wash, myself included i fell into a rut of eating crap (oven baked) food like breaded chicken oven chips, beans etc cause i was ''too tired'' to cook dinner, when in a matter of fact i was just lazy....

Seen someone comment back to something similar earlier, saying 'bloody hell people nowadays are too tired to cook a meal for themselves' what is the world turning into?
Not going against anybody, i've been guilty of it too and i can admit it was pure laziness.. it takes only a few minutes to throw together a quick/fresh/homemade meal..

my sister is still like that, 5 nights out of 7 she's too 'tired' to cook, even if i offer shed rather buy a takeaway or eat a disgusting cheap oven pizza :S ( i know loads are nice)

How very judgmental of you OP.

I feel 'too tired' to cook most days so sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.

My day starts around 5am when either my baby or toddler will wake me up and so my day begins on the back of yet another night of broken sleep. My toddler doesn't nap at all and is very full on all day and then there's a baby to add to the mix. By the time 6pm comes around I'm knackered and would like to be going to bed but bed doesn't come until both DC are in bed asleep which is frequently around 10-10.30pm.

Be careful how quickly you jump to judge people.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2017 16:20

Am I the only one who thinks omelettes are fucking rank? Those always get trotted out on here as a meal, 'throw together an omelette,' what if you think they're fucking minging? Yuk. Ring the chippy.

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 03/05/2017 16:20

That moment where the wee likkle troll implodes when people troll it back 😍 Just beautiful in its irony!

ExplodedCloud · 03/05/2017 16:21

Next from OP. How to cook a whole goat in 8 minutes...

Vroomster · 03/05/2017 16:21

I'm out the house at 6.30 and back at 8pm. That's a long day. And no I don't want to cook at the end of it. On the days I'm at home I cook.

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/05/2017 16:22

I left house at 8.30 and got back at 10.30 last night... got in made dinner, thats after going to a exam and 2 different jobs

More fool you quite honestly!

ArcheryAnnie · 03/05/2017 16:22

(I've been eating gherkins straight out of the jar. I did not pickle them myself, so they tick neither the "fresh" nor the "homemade" boxes, but they were certainly quick.)

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 03/05/2017 16:22

ExplodedCloud you Just made me choke on my cake 😂😂😂

KallyBox · 03/05/2017 16:22

Fucking hell it's just different priorities though isn't it OP?

You prioritise "proper" cooking, good for you. Doesn't mean that others who don't are lazy.

Right now I'm prioritising getting at least 45 minutes of exercise a day, so how the fuck does that make me too lazy to cook a proper meal? Or some people prioritise caring for elderly relatives. Or spending quality time with their children without thr added stress of cooking a "proper" meal. None of this makes them lazy.

Some people work full time and spend 2 hours at the gym every evening. Those who don't are lazy. Does that sound right to you? No because it's bullshit and just different priorities. Same as your example.

user1484578224 · 03/05/2017 16:23

so you are eating at 11pm?

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/05/2017 16:23

Next from OP. How to cook a whole goat in 8 minutes...

Tsk. You must be really lazy if it takes you whole 8 mins. Stop dilly- dallying and stick it in the pressure cooker (no need to remove the pelt). 4 mins max.

HoneyDragon · 03/05/2017 16:23

I like Risotto, actually I don't like it it's fucking awful, I like the purpose of risotto, it's one of those brilliant conversation starters. Say the word risotto and within ten minutes you know whether your taking to a cunt or not.

Ragu's useful in the same way.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/05/2017 16:24

lost But 'real' food frozen is rank when its defrosted/heated up.

I would rather grab a sandwich on the way home to eat on the train than waste time in the kitchen

KallyBox · 03/05/2017 16:24

Should add - some people prioritise doing fuck all because they haven't stopped all day and would rather sit with a cup of tea and have a quiet half an hour rather than cooking a proper meal. Doesn't make them lazy either!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/05/2017 16:24

Honey exactly 😂😂😂😂

ADisappearingDreamOfYesterday · 03/05/2017 16:25

I know people keep saying we need a proper eye rolling emoticon, for threads like this we need a Big Fat Hairy Bollocks emoticon. The biscuit just doesn't quite cut it, IMHO.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/05/2017 16:25

We all have 24 hours in a day - some people prefer to spend their non working time cooking, some don't. I'm not sure why some struggle with that as a concept

user1493759849 · 03/05/2017 16:25

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, curried goat. Nom nom nom Grin

LOL @ honeydragon's comment.

ExplodedCloud · 03/05/2017 16:25

I hope that's homemade cake sail Grin

expatinscotland · 03/05/2017 16:25

'Next from OP. How to cook a whole goat in 8 minutes...'

Batch cook, slow cooker, pressure cooker, freeze it. Or fuck it, pick up that ol' Pizza Express pizza from the fridge aisle, get some salad and garlic bread to go with it. Job done.

Yeah, I'm one of those people who would rather exercise than faff around cooking 'from scratch' every day, you don't get medals for that, but you get a great bod from exercise. And hey, if you wanna get noticed, make it for something good.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 03/05/2017 16:26

This is getting silly ...... ignore the OP everyone, don't rise to it.

Each to their own and all that.

I leave the house at 1am most mornings, returning 10.30pm to cook a full roast with all the trimmings, nothing lazy about me

PickAChew · 03/05/2017 16:26

Suit yourself. Cook from scratch every day, if that's what you prefer. Don't expect others to follow suit because you regard it as less "lazy".

user1493759849 · 03/05/2017 16:27

I'm wondering how the OP has time to create usernames and goady threads and sit here mocking and laughing if she has '2 jobs,' works 7am til 9pm, cooks everything from scratch, and has 'college' as well.

Hmm
Ulysses · 03/05/2017 16:28

Can I have your 10 minute recipe please. It's my favourite but takes me about 40 mins same as PP.

Offler · 03/05/2017 16:28

Aye, you're lucky BigSandyBalls I get up for work before I go to bed...
