I get that once a week maybe or even twice, people have had long days, myself included, out since 8/9am this morning, and get home not bothered to cook a big meal.... though isn't it just like washing? We need to eat, we need to wash, myself included i fell into a rut of eating crap (oven baked) food like breaded chicken oven chips, beans etc cause i was ''too tired'' to cook dinner, when in a matter of fact i was just lazy....

Seen someone comment back to something similar earlier, saying 'bloody hell people nowadays are too tired to cook a meal for themselves' what is the world turning into?
Not going against anybody, i've been guilty of it too and i can admit it was pure laziness.. it takes only a few minutes to throw together a quick/fresh/homemade meal..

my sister is still like that, 5 nights out of 7 she's too 'tired' to cook, even if i offer shed rather buy a takeaway or eat a disgusting cheap oven pizza :S ( i know loads are nice)

Deliveroo is both a blessing and a curse. Beautiful restaurant food delivered - last weekend I had a delicious grilled sea bass with crushed potatoes and a tomato salsa with roast vegetables delivered.....but spending a bloody fortune as such a variety of food on tap!

I left the house this morning at 7.30am, worked like a dog without a break until 8pm when I picked up the kids from wraparound care. We had fish and chips for tea.
I'm not lazy, just fucking knackered.

Babyblues14 · 05/05/2017 00:07

Why is this still going??

Willow2017 · 05/05/2017 00:16

I get in from work, get changed and go to the gym, and then have something quick/snacky when I get back.
Obviously, I only go to the gym because I'm too fucking lazy to chop vegetables.

PMSL at the idea of leaving the house at 8/9 being an early start.

PMSL at the idea of leaving the house at 8/9 being an early start.

Why? I've been up half the day by then.

I had a stroke and am on my own with two boys at home and the stroke makes me too tired to cook so any simple ideas of what to have would be much appreciated

PurpleDaisies · 10/04/2018 20:34

Hi Mishkin,

You’re probably better starting a new thread in “food and drink”. People are really helpful with recipes on that board. You might get missed on this long (and quite old!) thread.

You sound incredibly self righteous. I don’t understand why people give the shiniest shit what other people do unless it has a direct effect on their lives which this definitely doesn’t...

I work as a FE teacher which means five days a week during term time I am working 10 hour shifts. I usually then will also have essays to mark when I return home unless I have had chance to do it in a lesson which definitely isn’t advised or in my lunch break (and I could have anywhere up to ten 2000 word essays to mark in a night.) I am also currently pregnant and have three primary school aged DC. There is no way you are getting me cooking gourmet meals every single one of those nights. Sometimes I will cook a meal from scratch on the Monday and reheat it on the Tuesday and possibly Wednesday too... And I enjoy cooking at the weekends and in school holidays but on work nights? No thank you.
