To not get the Tom Hardy obsession?

Sillysausage123 · 26/04/2017 10:33

I'm 37 so maybe this is why I just don't get the obsession every female seems to have with Tom Hardy.
He just looks like an ordinary guy to me but the amount of Facebook memes and posts my female friends post about him and I don't get it. What am I missing?

I should say something intelligent about his acting etc etc but I'm going to let myself down and say I reckon he's a filthy sod, he makes my fanny twitch in a very unladylike fashion. I'd happily offer to find out for research purposes only.

Disclaimer; I'm now 39, apparently have reached my sexual peak..dh is currently unfit for duties so I'm blaming my perverse lust on dh being unable to pretend to be Tom at this time. Grin

Good plan RedDogs. No need to say it's a Tom Hardy film. They only get upset

wineusuallyhelps · 27/04/2017 21:52

I haven't stolen a moped.

I'm not petite, stunning or a brunette, since the highlights.

[clutches at straws]...But my Labrador is quite frankly stunning. Do you think that would reel TH in? Tom could totally cuddle me him all he wanted.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 27/04/2017 21:55

I have no idea who Tom Hardy is (other than he is a successful actor atm).

I wouldn't recognise a photo. I couldn't pick him out of a line up. I have never knowingly seen him in a film or tv show or on a chat show. I couldn't name anything he has acted in.

All I know about Tom Hardy is is that he got some Mumsnetters excited when he was on Jackanory and he got involved in preventing a rl crime in Richmond (?) or south London recently.

So he has good PR, I'll give him that.

Edsheeranalbumparty · 27/04/2017 21:57

He has such a weird voice?

He does nothing for me.

I'm sure he will be gutted to hear that!

RedDogsBeg · 27/04/2017 21:57

limited I will be very subtleGrin.

He loves dogs but Taboo was appalling.

limitedperiodonly · 27/04/2017 22:04

He loves dogs but Taboo was appalling.

And? It's Tom Hardy

limitedperiodonly · 27/04/2017 22:06

He was appalling in Peaky Blinders but so was Cillian Murphy and the whole lot of them.

I don't care.

user1489179512 · 27/04/2017 22:07

Sure he's not a bit...erm...podgy!?

RedDogsBeg · 27/04/2017 22:07

I disagree userwhatevernumbers Taboo was excellent.

Bedsheets4knickers · 27/04/2017 22:10

I thought he was Brillant in peaky 😱

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 27/04/2017 22:13

I think it's horses for courses

I am fifty - for some strange reason I am not attracted to 39 yr old men..

But when it comes to grey haired old buggers (just like my old DH) I am all weak at the knees

.... Yes Peter Capaldi I am looking at you!!!!!!!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 27/04/2017 22:13

I began watching Taboo fully prepared for it to be appalling - but it was weirdly compelling. And not just because of Tom Hardy, although I fully confess to being totally in love with his hat.

He mentions his accent in the article linked to earlier, I think - he tends to pick up accents easily and says that he himself is never sure what it's going to sound like when he speaks.

limitedperiodonly · 27/04/2017 22:15

RedDogs I admire the acting talents of Tom Hardy and Daniel Craig so I encourage DH to watch Layercake and Casino Royale - Tom's not in that, in case you haven't seen it. I don't want to waste your time.

DH really likes both films so there's no need for me to go any further beyond: 'Let's stick Layercake on.'

I have to say that I don't fancy Tom Hardy enough to have managed to stay awake to the end of Inception.

ceeveebee · 27/04/2017 22:15

He seems to knock around the Richmond/east sheen area a lot. He was brought up in east sheen so possibly has family there.

He's lived in Richmond for a few years.
I know for a fact as I used to live on same street (4 doors away) from Tom and Charlotte for a few years when I lived in Richmond. I think they've moved now (they were just renting while their richmond hill mansion was refurbed). They were always very friendly although sometimes got him mixed up with a tramp, particularly when he was filming mad max with that crazy beard!

ZilphasHatpin · 27/04/2017 22:23

Regardless of whether you thought taboo was good or bad it gave us some of the best one liners of the year! Grin

I thought he was hilarious as Alfie solomans in peaky blinders. Great character.

limited I also fell asleep during inception despite the hardy presence. It's a pile of shite. I really cant stand LDC anyway but I watched for TH. same for the revenant. Wasn't fussed on the film.

ZilphasHatpin · 27/04/2017 22:24

user that "podge" is solid muscle!

RedDogsBeg · 27/04/2017 22:25

limited I couldn't get into Inception at all lasted about 20 minutes, agree with you about Layercake and Casino Royale. Just going through the tedious post match analysis now so I'll shuffle off and select a film using the "We haven't seen this one for a while" logic.Grin

JamesDelaneysHat · 27/04/2017 22:29

Taboo was bonkers. We had a great time on the Taboo thread on MN though and it was where my crush on him was born and bred. Agree he was great in Peaky Blinders, him and Cillian Murphy.

I'm not hugely keen on him having huge muscles actually. He was ridiculously huge as Bane in the batman film.

limitedperiodonly · 27/04/2017 22:30

ZilphasHatpin I've not seen The Revenant. I have to say I'm not going to watch Bronson again. Don't get me wrong. It's good acting and everything and Tom's naked in it but I didn't fancy him in it.

MelinaMercury · 27/04/2017 22:32

I'm 30 and couldn't pick the guy out of a line up.

My brother pointed him out (apparently) whilst we watched Suicide Squad last week and I've seen Inception so i assume I've seen him but he's left no lasting imprint in my memory.

Although I've attempted to watch Inception 3x now and still can't stay awake so i may have missed him!

ZilphasHatpin · 27/04/2017 22:46

Tom wasn't in suicide squad. He was supposed to be but pulled out due to scheduling clashes with the revenant and mad max.
