To kill a man and dump his body in the chiller section

Lots and lots of major shit in my life at the moment and the stress is showing in my face. Today has been horrific especially. Popped to supermarket. A delightful man decided to tell me to cheer up as it might never happen. Shouted ' you don't know what is going on my life , he told me to shut up as he walked away. He was obviously thinking his kind work as a Samaritan had done the trick. I told ( shouted) him to shut up too. Had to vent so told a lovely lady who worked there. There was nothing she could do but I did have a fantasy of him being hauled out by security lol. So would I have been unreasonable to have throttled him and shoved him in with the other frozen pork products .

Gentlemen, Gosh you need to widen your circles and possibly date some nicer men.

YANBU- I would have thrown the nearest heavy looking vegetable at him

SweetChickadee · 25/04/2017 15:35

it happens in Canada across

'helpful' -chap recently said to me in the street 'oh you've dropped something'

so I look about my person 'I don't think so...'

"your smile"

I just rolled my eyes and walked off

BodyformForYou · 25/04/2017 15:35

And bodyform What has my expression got to do with him?

Maybe you should have asked him. To be honest OP, I don't think your issue is with this dude, you seem to have a lot else going on that has got you upset

My point is merely MAYBE, just MAYBE, he didn't mean to upset you. MAYBE.

I mean obviously I don't know the guy, and neither do you, so his intention may not ever be clear, but maybe he just wanted to try and lighten your mood? Who knows - maybe not worth taking personally as you seem to have other issues at hand

Bluntness100 · 25/04/2017 15:36

I'm a big fan of a kind word and would have also viewed this as harmless, Ill advised but harmless. And I will point out that if this is not ok it's certainly not ok to attack and to call someone an arsehole because they think it is. Anyways, clearly following it up by telling you to shut up was far from ok.

I'd agree with the poster who said this man is not your problem, whatever is causing you the stress is, and I hope that resolves for you. 💐

MycatsaPirate · 25/04/2017 15:37

Oh yes, when I am seriously depressed and struggled to get dressed and out the house to the shops, if a man tells me to cheer up I'm instantly cured.

I find that 'oh fuck off dickface' and a scowl works wonders.

Pigface1 · 25/04/2017 15:38

YANBU. It's an even more offensive version of 'smile love'. No I will not fucking smile. You have no right to tell me what to do with my face. Fuck off.

amusedbush · 25/04/2017 15:39

I genuinely don't see what there is to be offended about.

It's something I've only ever heard from men, and it's because they think my expression should be more pleasing to them. Why should I show emotion on my face when I could smile and look more attractive??

Stormtreader · 25/04/2017 15:41

"My point is merely MAYBE, just MAYBE, he didn't mean to upset you. MAYBE. "

Of course he didnt intend to upset her. He didnt really intend to help her either. In fact, im pretty certain that he never gave a seconds thought to HER feelings or mood at all. Because telling women to "cheer up love" isnt about the woman as a person, its about the woman as an ornament.

BodyformForYou · 25/04/2017 15:42

because they think

Honestly if you are trying to make a point, please use facts, rather than the above kind of statement. No one knows what anyone else thinks, they just see a projection of their own thoughts..

Pollydonia · 25/04/2017 15:44

Yadnbu. When I was 14 I was working in my parents shop when we got the awful call that my grandad had died. Dad left and me & mum started shutting the shop. Arsey customer barges in and used that phrase to me , mum said her grandad has died, we're closing, now piss off . Mum Never swears. Very proud of her, taught me that it's ok to stand up for yourself.

BodyformForYou · 25/04/2017 15:44

isnt about the woman as a person, its about the woman as an ornament

That if true, sounds awful, how do you know this? Have you ever asked a man? Or is just what you think?

Shootsandleaves · 25/04/2017 15:53

He was wrong. So were you.
I feel sorry for the person you felt you needed to 'vent ' to.
Jesus. Does anyone in real life actually have restraint these days?

Mumsnet eh? What would we do without it!,

GeorgeTheHamster · 25/04/2017 15:53

It's something only said by an older man to a younger woman. And they can fuck right off.

BodyformForYou · 25/04/2017 15:54

Women objectify men as ornaments too - think male strippers, and films like Magic Mike, Full Monty

Except we call it something cuter, we call it ''eye candy'' when we objectify men.

lizzieoak · 25/04/2017 15:55

Honestly, I think bodyborm is (oddly) enjoying being goady. No one could be that daft.

debska · 25/04/2017 15:57

So I'm clearly a bit deranged and the other issues in my life are causing to not react in a ladylike way to a gentlemans kindness. What about everyone else who has chipped in with their stories. And still no one saying how these few kind words have turned their frowns upside down .

OP posts:
BeMorePanda · 25/04/2017 15:57

WON'T ANYONE THINK ABOUT THE MEN???

Oh Bodyform's got that all covered.

debska · 25/04/2017 15:59

Last comment probably lol
But i didn't rant at the lady in the shop. She agreed with me I told her I just needed to tell someone as being told to shut up by a stranger had upset me .

OP posts:
Crapuccino · 25/04/2017 15:59

People who say "cheer up, it might never happen" consent to being smothered in honey and thrown into a pit of fireants as far as I'm concerned.

Cannot. Fucking. Stand it.

Goldfishjane · 25/04/2017 16:00

I go straight to "fuck off".
But I would stand by you op if you killed him and froze him. Or killed him by freezing. Latter probably more fun.

lizzieoak · 25/04/2017 16:01

I've asked male friends and relatives of this has ever happened to them - from a male or female face-bosser. They've been agog and said "of course not".

BuckinghamLass · 25/04/2017 16:04

Yes, agree it's terrible. This kind of male objectification can have a terrible effect on men, causing eating disorders, negative self image, perpetuating rape culture and teaching men their self worth is down to what they look like.

StrawberryMouse · 25/04/2017 16:05

Never heard this from a woman and never thought about that before, you're right.

StarryIllusion · 25/04/2017 16:19

YABVU. Dead bodies could contaminate the ice cream and then where would you be? Dump him in the frozen veg aisle instead.

GoatsFeet · 25/04/2017 16:21

There's a bit of a difference between men performing as stripper and being paid for it, and women being shouted at when going about their daily business.
