To think UKIP have finally lost the plot?

politicalscrapbook.net/2017/04/ukip-been-on-holiday-time-to-check-your-genitals/

Their "integration agenda" recently launched says that they propose to "Implement school-based medical checks on girls from groups at high risk of suffering FGM. These should take place annually and whenever they return from trips overseas".

So - if someone deems your unfortunate daughter to be a bit brown and at risk of FGM, she gets to have her genitalia checked every time you cross the channel. Lovely.

Fascinating that Nuttall hid from journalists after the launch rather than answer questions about it.

'I was very angry that they want to ban the burqa' firstly there not there only wanting to ban face covering which is the niqab secondly they didnt they only tried to in public places why should women wear a full face covering in public when i would not be able to wear a balaclava or motocycle helmet/ and thirdly nowhere in their book does it mention the word burka or niqab or command muslim women to cover there face.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 26/04/2017 04:28

Anti Muslim protesters also cover their faces!
I have never seen anyone in niqab in this country myself. You don't solve the misogyny of people policing what women wear by policing what women wear! Some women do freely choose to wear niqab.

I'm curious if it's only racist and perverted policy written by a white male when UKIP suggest it? Or is Diane Abbott a right wing racist, perverted, white male as well. This is a policy taken directly from the Labour party www.standard.co.uk/news/london/diane-abott-calls-for-mandatory-checks-on-schoolgirls-to-secure-prosecutions-for-fgm-9184171.html

Charlieismydarlin · 26/04/2017 07:12

Well, it's hardly UKIP themselves that are doing the checks, is it?

What I presume they are suggesting is that families returning from trips abroad when it is possible that trip has been to allow FGM, there is some medical checking of the children when they return, probably by a paediatrician.

If FGM has occurred, I presume the parents can be prosecuted although it might be difficult to prove it hadn't happened previously etc.

It does sound vague and odd but equally, we have to do something meaningful about FGM as it's horrendous and ruins lives and is happening routinely in the UK

DoctorDonnaNoble · 26/04/2017 07:22

When they come back it's too late! If it relies on school system to report, girls will just be withdrawn.
Everybody also seems to miss that it's not just Muslims that do this; some Christian communities also commit this crime. They are over simplifying a serious issue. And yes, it's just as abhorrent when Diane Abbot says it!

Charlieismydarlin · 26/04/2017 07:24

Well I'm assuming that if we start to have proper prosecutions and sentencing, there will be a deterrent effect?

surferjet · 26/04/2017 07:26

Something has to be done to protect these young girls? what do you suggest op?
& the hysteria around UKIP on these boards is ridiculous - You'd think Nigel Farage himself would be doing the checks. Hmm

TheNaze73 · 26/04/2017 07:33

Well highlighted notlabeled

I think UKIP are done. Staggered that Diane Abbott's comments, barely got mentioned, people see what they want to see.

ForalltheSaints · 26/04/2017 07:57

I'm not sure they had the plot to begin with, but agree the medical exam of teenage girls is a step too far.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 26/04/2017 08:59

It's not hysteria. They are, quite frankly a joke, hence ridiculous policies

surferjet · 26/04/2017 09:49

Haha.
Yeah right. Ok.
UKIP have changed the course of this country forever. If it wasn't for UKIP we'd still be stuck in the EU. They forced the referendum pretty much single handed. If UKIP are a joke then they certainly had the last laugh.
Not sure how relevant they are now though, but they'll be around as long as people keep voting for them.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 26/04/2017 10:42

We weren't stuck as demonstrated by the fact we're leaving. They are a joke look at their Clacton candidate. He was on our local news last night

Ceto · 26/04/2017 16:40

Surferjet, how precisely does this protect young girls? If this policy came in, it is highly unlikely that it would protect any girl - all that would happen is that the victims would be taken out of school. Meanwhile a lot of girls who are in no danger of FGM will be subject to regular genital examinations because of their race and/or religion.
