How much money do you or dp spend on a night out?

Just that really.... dp wants to go out with some of his work mates but he is now saying we haven't got enough money so was in a bit of a sulk. I've asked him how much he wants to take out and he said over £100!!! We don't go out often as I have children. I think over £100 is a lot of money and thought £50 was more reasonable.

Depends what it is. We don't go out much - maybe £18 for fish and chips. If I go out on my own I might spend anything from £10 to occasionally £500 (took a few family members to a play).

Yes, £100 is a lot, especially if you can't afford it. Could he go just for drinks or meet them later for part of it?

If we go out together we can spend £150-£200 (cabs, meal, wine, cocktails etc).

If I go out with my friends it depends on where we're going and what we're doing, when DH goes out with his friends he spends £50-£80.

£100 is a lot when you've not got it to spend, could he meet his friends later on in the evening to reduce his spend a bit?

I've asked him to try and cut it down but he said that's why he doesn't go out often because it's expensive. We really can't afford it so he can't go

DH around the same but spends on beer rather than a meal but would probably grab a curry or a pizza to bring home.

£100 for drinks? How much is he planning on drinking?! He could buy about 20-30 pints for that, or 5-6 bottles of wine. Seems a bit ridiculous to me. Me and DP spend about £100 but that would include a 3 course dinner, 2 cocktails each and taxis. If it were just drinks then we would probably be fine with £20 each but we aren't heavy drinkers

What does he drink? £100 is excessive if it's just being put over the bar in a pub.

As I said, 40 quid covers 10 pints of lager/bitter. However if he's going for a right beano and following it with chasers and shots then yes, it will be closer to 80 quid.

A night round town with dh would cost around £120 between us including a taxi home. I take £70 if it's just me going but usually bring around £15 back with me, I just like making sure I have plenty money. Just dh on his own would take £50-60. If we were having a meal too we'd add an extra £20-£25 per person on to what we take.

Me and dh spent £170 the last time we went out, drinks are expensive.

He drinks pints, shots etc so that's why apparently he spends a lot. He doesn't get drunk easily.

£100 for drinks is about right in some areas. In most cities for example good bars and clubs have door charges and/or guest lists that you have to pay to get on and booze is expensive.

Just me around £50-60. That's going to nice bars where drinks are quite expensive. Cab home costs £15.

I would expect to spend about £50 ( and I like a few drinks) including taxis. £100 is a lot with no food.

On a typical night out drinking with his mates, DH will probably spend about £60-70 with his taxi home and probably some food.
If I go out with my friends, I would probably spend about the same but we usually tend to go for a meal then drinks.
Last time we went out drinking together to my friend's 30th, we spend over £140! And that was at a we'll known chain that does 2-4-1 cocktails.

I always pre drink in the house if it's a big night out so I drink enough to get mildly happy which saves me a good few bob.

I'd prob take that for a night out. Drinks plus taxis and some food after the pub.

A night out together is a joint expense you can justify pushing the boat out on. One person going out and spending ridiculous amounts without the other is a choice of theirs. I think you should ensure you get equal spending money and have him prioritise his spending from that. If he thinks it's reasonable to blow over £100 of it on one night out, that's his choice, and once it's gone, it's gone - or you get more and more as he decides to give himself more and more, of course. If you can afford to keep upping the personal spending amounts, that is.
