How much money do you or dp spend on a night out?

Just that really.... dp wants to go out with some of his work mates but he is now saying we haven't got enough money so was in a bit of a sulk. I've asked him how much he wants to take out and he said over £100!!! We don't go out often as I have children. I think over £100 is a lot of money and thought £50 was more reasonable.

Sorry, posted too soon. When our DC were small we wouldn't have been able to afford for one of us to spend over £100 on a night out, we'd rather have gone on a family day out for that amount of money.

ImperialBlether · 20/04/2017 22:43

Those of you spending £100 without a meal, are you in London?

Redtartanshoes · 20/04/2017 22:46

Easily £150 for 2 of us including light dinner.

Or the same without food if it's an early start. G&T x 2 is £16 7 rounds... taxi... soon adds up

5moreminutes · 20/04/2017 22:47

BlondeBecky1983 this is one person ("you or DP" not "you and DP") going to a pub - not a wine or cocktail bar for drinks only, no food.

Darbs well that's pants isn't it haven't done the kind of socialising that involves buying rounds for at least a decade thank goodness, what a liability that sounds My hazy memory of buying rounds involves people not taking the piss and buying similar things, and anyone on tap water not being expected nor even allowed to buy everyone else a round of cocktails or triple shots!

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 20/04/2017 22:47

A proper night out we spent about 200 two weeks ago. A night myself if going for a meal and having cocktails and wine etc then out after likely 100. Dh about 100 maybe under or over too but with no food.

ImperialBlether · 20/04/2017 22:53

G&T x 2 is £16 7 rounds.

Those are doubles, aren't they?

ilovepixie · 20/04/2017 22:53

About £200. And dh doesn't drink. It's £18 for a gin and tonic in the bar near me

My God where is your local bar? The ritz?

Dontstopmovin · 20/04/2017 22:54

Just asked DH what he'd spend on a lads night out. He's a quite big drinker and he reckons £50 to £60 for a full night of fairly heavy drinking. He says £100 would be an all day session with food.

EmNetta · 20/04/2017 22:54

If you don't go out together because you have children, why isn't he staying at home because he has children?
And can't afford it? Just an idea, of course, but I'd certainly be asking.

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 20/04/2017 22:55

Imperial no not in London. South West scotland. Not a city. Cocktails are about 12 each. Glass of prosecco is about 10. Bottle is 35. You need to pay to get in some places. I doubt the ops dh will stay in one place. They will move around.

Mo55chop5 · 20/04/2017 22:56

Anything between £100 and £150 between 2 of us, a bit more if there's cabs involved

DragonNoodleCake · 20/04/2017 22:57

Depends on where he is going out. I've spent that on nights out in Edinburgh (when I've got it!). Local with my mates less than a third of that.

JustCallMeKate · 20/04/2017 22:59

Imperial no, not London I'm in Central Scotland.

SparklyUnicornPoo · 20/04/2017 22:59

depends on the pub, night out to spoons or my local I'd take £30, if i was going to a nice bar with my posher friends maybe £50/£60.

I don't do rounds though.

HermioneJeanGranger · 20/04/2017 23:06

Good God - £18 for a cocktail? £10 for a glass of fizz?!

Insanity. Cocktails are £8 at the fancy wine bar here - most places charge a fiver. Glass of fizz maybe £4.50, other wines £3-4 for a large glass. Bottle of wine anywhere from £12 or so in a bar or restaurant.

Nowhere requires payment on entry unless it's NYE or similar, and even then only the clubs charge a nominal fee - maybe £5 or so.

AudreyBradshaw · 20/04/2017 23:27

When I had a ridiculous disposable income I'd think nothing of taking £200-300 out for a proper night out. Few rounds of shots, cocktails and a couple of bottles of champagne. Made even more ridiculous by the fact that i worked in the industry so we got a lot of stuff VIP/take service etc for free or at knock down prices.

£50 is adequate but I get why he'd want to take more. (Not excusing his behaviour and sulking, that's ridiculous in a quality grown man!)

19lottie82 · 21/04/2017 00:13

£3 for a large glass of wine? WHERE????

BackforGood · 21/04/2017 00:26

Good grief - I knew I was a cheap date, but I didn't realise quite how cheap. If I went for an evening drinking at the pub with someone, I'd come home with change from a tenner Grin

Catra · 21/04/2017 00:39

Well a large glass of wine is £4.50 - £5 and a cocktail around £8 where I live, so probably around £30 in drinks when I go out with friends. Taxi is £15 there and back, but I always share this.

If I'm going out for a meal with DH, then usually £20 - £30 each, unless we're going somewhere for an anniversary / birthday, etc, in which case considerably more. This doesn't include wine though - we tend to drink before we go out instead.

SallyVating · 21/04/2017 00:57

I can easily get through £250/300 once you add in extras and can fares

Dothehokeykokey · 21/04/2017 00:57

Drinks, curry, taxi?

£100 easy - way more if food early in evening or end up in cocktail bar or casino.

More again for a strip joint

kimann · 21/04/2017 01:03

It depends where you are - London? Depends if food is involved. So many factors op. Transport? Is the £100 just for drinks?

ilovechoc1987 · 21/04/2017 01:10

my partner has a drink with his mates at ours before he goes out and then he takes cash with him (usually about £60) no card so he doesn't overspend.
I drop him off and pick him up, if he can't get a lift, to save on taxi fare.
The same goes for me if I go out.
We both rarely go out separately anymore, but we occasionally go out together and spend roughly about £120-£150 but that's like maybe 3xs a year tops.

kimberlin · 21/04/2017 01:13

Varies wildly depending on what we're doing. Tickets for London shows are expensive, can be £100 each. But sometimes we'll just go to Science Museum lates and pay nothing and not even have a drink. We never pay for taxis home when we can get a night bus for free though.

I'm a very cheap date if I go out to drink. I feel sick after more than two drinks so even if I go for expensive cocktails I'll get change out of £30.

HemanOrSheRa · 21/04/2017 01:30

I would want £100 cash in my purse on a night out and so DP would have that in his wallet.
