How much money do you or dp spend on a night out?

Just that really.... dp wants to go out with some of his work mates but he is now saying we haven't got enough money so was in a bit of a sulk. I've asked him how much he wants to take out and he said over £100!!! We don't go out often as I have children. I think over £100 is a lot of money and thought £50 was more reasonable.

your DH needs to get on the pre-drinks! I'm drunk by 1030 if I have a couple of very large G&Ts before I go out!

DixieFlatline · 20/04/2017 22:06

I think some people are misreading the thread title as 'you and your DP'.

SellFridges · 20/04/2017 22:09

On a night out, with no meal involved, I would expect to spend about £50-60 plus taxi. I don't scrimp on drinks because I don't get out much and will often drink champagne.

With a meal it's more like £100.

Darbs76 · 20/04/2017 22:11

Can't he just say I can't do rounds I'm on a budget? No way he would spend £100 then - end up paying for much more expenisve drinks when you get into rounds - ends up very expensive night out

thenightsky · 20/04/2017 22:13

Depends if you're buying rounds. My regular group means a round is about £20. So three rounds is £60. (Up north so not totally daft prices).

MovingtoParadise · 20/04/2017 22:18

About £200. And dh doesn't drink. It's £18 for a gin and tonic in the bar near me.

Bluntness100 · 20/04/2017 22:19

Going out is expensive, if just my husband and I going for dinner at the pub about 70 pounds, we usually have steak or something and nice wine.if we are with mates it is usually a bit more, probably about 100 as we tend to drink more and have more courses. We take probably 200 with us just in case but seldom spend that much,,,but that's for two of us,,,I think for one person 100 is quite a lot if not eating.

kmc1111 · 20/04/2017 22:21

£100 sounds about right if he doesn't want to have to worry about being caught short. Hard because it's work friends too. With your closest friends you might feel comfortable announcing you're broke and can't buy or accept any rounds, but with work friends it can feel way too personal.

If you can't afford it you can't afford it, but it's not like he'd be splashing out on bottle service. It'll pay for a few rounds and a crappy takeaway, possibly a taxi.

5moreminutes · 20/04/2017 22:24

If you're buying rounds it should work out the same as if you are just buying for yourself surely - if there are 3 of you you spend 3 times as much but then get two drinks bought for you... Why would buying rounds make a night out more expensive (unless it causes you to drink more because there are 10 people in the round and you wouldn't normally drink 10 glasses of wine...) or unless the others drink more expensive drinks...

How many drinks do you get for over £100 in a pub? Its not as though he's going to a night club with crazy drinks prices...

I'd say over £100 would be dinner and drinks for two people, not drinks only for one - clearly I am out of touch! What are people drinking that costs that much in a pub? Shock

HermioneJeanGranger · 20/04/2017 22:24

We can have a meal and a couple of drinks for two for about £50. On my own, I'd spend around £30. Main, dessert and a drink or two.

annandale · 20/04/2017 22:26

OK so he can't afford to get completely fucked out of his brain on spirits on a regular basis. And he thinks he's allowed to sulk due to this because...?

He's a dad FGS and an adult. If he wants to go out with his mates and have a good time, then he can do that with less money, if he takes a slightly more mature attitude. If he wants to get wasted, he can buy a bottle of gin and go and sit on a bench. He can't afford to spend money like water the way he would have done when he was single, I guess. Oh dear, poor him Hmm

skerrywind · 20/04/2017 22:26

We don;t go out in the evening.
Sometimes for lunch, but will only spend a very small amount.

We prefer to stay at home with a bottle of wine and some nice food if we have time to relax.

Really can't be arsed being out on a chilly evening and having to get taxis/public transport home.

LegoStarWars · 20/04/2017 22:26

For a night at the pub with friends I'd spend £20-30. That's drinks (rounds, but everyone drinks wine or beer) plus a burger or something at the pub.

WildwestWind · 20/04/2017 22:27

Cinema then meal afterwards for two about £100

BadLad · 20/04/2017 22:30

We assume about 150quid each. If there's any unspent, then great, but that's rarely much.

MackerelOfFact · 20/04/2017 22:30

£100 on a pub night is extortionate!

I could spend £100 on drinks but that would have to be in a lovely little cocktail bar in central London with table service. And it would happen once in a blue moon and be worth every penny.

Sitting on filthy bar stools with Sky Sports on in the background... not so much.

5moreminutes · 20/04/2017 22:33

What on earth would make a night drinking in a pub - not a club or a cocktail bar, a pub, and without food - worth the hundreds of pounds some on here are suggesting is normal? It isn't normal, surely...

Xmasbaby11 · 20/04/2017 22:39

I'd never go out just for drinks. I'd expect to spend around £30-50 on dinner out, depending on whether I was drinking (plus taxi) or not.

Dh would go to a gig and drink, probably spend around £50, once a month.

I would go for dinner and cinema and spend around £40, perhaps twice a month. I often go for dinner at friends' houses which doesn't cost much - just wine and flowers.

We rarely go out together but if we did would spend £50-100 between us.

It depends what you can afford. I love going out and would happily go out more and spend loads more if I had it!

JustCallMeKate · 20/04/2017 22:39

If I go out with a friend I'd probably spend between £80 and £120 on drinks at a nice wine bar with cocktails. A bottle of wine is normally around £40 at the wine bars we go to. When DH and I go out for a meal and drinks it can be anywhere between £150 - £250 depending on where we eat.

BlondeBecky1983 · 20/04/2017 22:40

£100-120 for light dinner and drinks.

greenworm · 20/04/2017 22:41

£100 seems ridiculous to me, and I live in an expensive city and dont skimp on drinks on a night out!

I'd still aim to get change out of £100 if it was dinner and drinks and a taxi home TBH.

BlondeBecky1983 · 20/04/2017 22:41

Out with DH? Anywhere between £100 and £500 depending on the restaurant.

pmama · 20/04/2017 22:42

I think 50 should be fine for a drink or two with colleagues

Darbs76 · 20/04/2017 22:42

Round are not the same cost as buying yourself - some people have more expenisve drinks so your round costs more even if you all buy equal than your 3 drinks could have cost. Also never ends up equal when I'm in rounds, someone ends up buying one more round of more people join you - ends up much more expensive than if you bought your own drinks. If you had 10 pints it would cost no where near £100 but getting into rounds definitely costs more

BlondeBecky1983 · 20/04/2017 22:42

Greenworm, cocktails are usually between £8-12. Factor in taxi and nice meal, not much change from £100.
