To go swimming without shaving?

ArriettyMatilda · 18/04/2017 21:10

I am not a regular shaver. It's time consuming, occasionally itchy during regrowth and I hate myself for feeling like I have to conform to society's expectations plus I'm lazy I really want to take dd swimming more regularly but I really can't be bothered with maintaining a smooth bikini line and legs.

I am well aware that I wouldn't even be asking this if I was a man, but I can't shake the feeling that someone will be disgusted by my hair. I'm so annoyed that I feel like I have to remove part of my body to become an acceptable member of society.

Would you judge me for having hairy legs and hair around my bikini line? If you don't like shaving what do you wear swimming?

chai my post was quite clear and reasonable. If you don't understand then you have to look at your own intelligence and I can't help you with that. Sorry.

StarryIllusion · 19/04/2017 13:39

I wouldn't want my pubes on display tbh but legs I don't give a fuck.

ChaiTeaTaiChi · 19/04/2017 13:41

I understand it perfectly, but clearly you don't. That is kind of the point.

It's alright though, obviously you prefer to not think very hard about anything so don't worry about not getting the full meaning. Just keep staring at random crotches and going "eww" like a toddler, with no idea why you do so. Each to their own petal.

brassbrass · 19/04/2017 13:46

it's difficult to take you seriously chai Grin

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2017 13:48

I'm honestly shocked people are on here Arguing because they like to be out in public with their pubes hanging out. It really is like a parallel universe on here sometimes. I know no one in real life, male or female who likes to get their pubes out in public and think it's acceptable. The absurdity is literally making me chortle.

And having lived in the continent for several years, no French women don't go swimming with their pubes hanging out either. 😂

Anyways, if you wanna go out with your pubes hanging out, and you don't want to wear a longer legged swimsuit you're good with your pubes being on display, go for it but do accept generally people don't want to catch a glimpse of your minge.

brassbrass · 19/04/2017 13:50

No I'm not going to think very hard about why I don't like spiders. It's neither here not there in the scheme of things.

Same with pubes. It's on list of things I dislike. Try and get over it will you?

BertrandRussell · 19/04/2017 13:51

The language is distasteful too. "Pubes hanging out"Hmm

ChaiTeaTaiChi · 19/04/2017 13:51

Actually I think I'll show more pubes on purpose, now that I know it both bothers AND confuses people like yourself.

ChaiTeaTaiChi · 19/04/2017 13:55

I think you've misunderstood somewhat. It's not about some kind of exhibitionist issue, its that some women have more hair and bits of it escape, and they shouldn't feel like they HAVE to shave or wax because other judgy idiots will make fun of them.

The absurdity of thinking it is any of your business whether people wax or not should be making you think. I can assure you that all over the world, including France, there are women who have stray hairs or excess hair and they want to swim without having to alter themselves for your comfort levels. And they do.

Aren't we a bit past telling women how to dress or groom themselves? Haven't you got the memo yet?

CouldOfHadItAll · 19/04/2017 13:55

If your swimming garment doesn't cover your pubic hair and boobs, it's too small.

So for plenty of women, that means that any costume that doesn't come with a pair of shorts is 'too small'.

I'm guessing a lot of the women horrified by the idea of pubes that don't fit inside a swimming costume are blessed with very little body hair.

I suspect we entered - MN Bravado Safely From Behind My Screen But Nothing I Have To Say Has Any Bearing On Real Life - territory ages ago.

No adding value to the discussion just nonsense dressed at feminism. Which is a shame.

ChaiTeaTaiChi · 19/04/2017 13:57

God its painful that someone, I presume female, can have so little understanding of an issue central to feminism.

user1489179512 · 19/04/2017 13:57

Hairy legs and other poking hairiness? Nope. That would be unpleasant .

Gooseygoosey12345 · 19/04/2017 13:58

Wear what you want and don't shave if you don't want to. I couldn't give two shits if someone's shaved or not and very highly doubt I'd even notice. Only shave if YOU want to and only cover up if YOU want to. Not even out of a feminist view point, just because why is this even a thing?

C8H10N4O2 · 19/04/2017 13:59

why bother wearing a swimsuit or any clothes at all?

Yes because the only alternative to hysteria at the sight of pubic hair is to wear nothing and freeze.

You can wear a nun's habit in the pool for all I care but you don't have the right to impose your own body issues onto other women or tell them their bodies are unacceptable.

I particularly loathe this obsession with pubic hair being removed from grown women or being somehow disgusting. I think our daughters have enough to put up with in broadcast imagery without it being reinforced by the women around them.

brassbrass · 19/04/2017 14:02

chai you're now creating an argument that doesn't exist.

Not one person on this thread has said that women MUST shave. Some women suggested you could cover up pubes by wearing shorts type cossies. Because some women don't actually WANT to display their pubes and others don't want to have to see them.

I think everyone has been in agreement that it's entirely up to the individual whether they want to or not. Preferences.

Daydream007 · 19/04/2017 14:03

Nobody should be looking! I wouldn't be bothered if I saw someone with hairy legs and a few stray pubes.

ChaiTeaTaiChi · 19/04/2017 14:05

Could you maybe actually read the thread? Because that isn't remotely what it says. Many posters have said that people should cover up, that its not ok not to. YOU were actually one of them.
Did you forget?

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2017 14:08

Lol, I don't give a shit if someone shaves waxes or is full on eighties power bushl I don't wanna see pubes for the exact same reason I don't wanna see arse crack. Yes we all have one, but some of us buy clothes that make sure it's covered, just like our pubes.

brassbrass · 19/04/2017 14:12

No chai I suggest you RTFT.

I said I prefer not to see it myself. And that is all I have said.

kmc1111 · 19/04/2017 14:17

I don't want to see anyone's pubes. That includes men.

Shave or trim, don't shave or trim, whatever, but choose a swimsuit that hides your pubes. It's not like it's difficult, even if you have lots of hair there's no shortage or boy short bottoms, skirt bottoms, board shorts etc.

JustDanceAddict · 19/04/2017 14:19

I always trim the bush re-swim or hols - no-one needs to see pubes!!

Bluebell28 · 19/04/2017 14:24

I think you should do what is fine for you. As long as you are not swimming in the nude in a public swimming pool then where and what you shave is your own beeswax Grin. I think people who look at other's private areas have got more problems than waxing would solve.

ChaiTeaTaiChi · 19/04/2017 14:24

I said I prefer not to see it myself. And that is all I have said

Actually no. You accused people of "inflicting their pubes on others" for one thing. You also said that private areas and private hair should not be shown at all.
You can't change your mind mid thread and then pretend you didn't say what we can go back and read.

CouldOfHadItAll · 19/04/2017 14:29

At what point do pubes become leg hair? I'm thinking I'd have to swim in cycle shorts to please some people Grin
