*Trigger Warning* AIBU to not understand how this YouTuber isn't being investigated for child abuse?

So I actually found out about this channel via another large forum I post on. Essentially, a YouTube channel which is called DaddyOFive (it's reasonably large, around three quarters of a million subscribers) centres around a blog made by the father, with 5 children. The upshot of it is, people were angry about how the family, lead by the father; bully one of their children Cody, and pass it off as just 'good old fashioned parenting!'

At first until I checked out the videos I honestly thought it couldn't be that bad. I was horribly wrong. Some of the videos are entitled:
Dad burns Cody's Pokemon cards
Dad destroys son's DS
Dad forces son to throw away his toys
I'm sending Cody to military school

In their most recent video, because Cody had been bad (smeared poop on the walls; a recognised sign of abuse and distress), they took all the other kids to DisneyLand.

These videos are horrific, and despite them being located in the US, I really feel like CPS should be investigating and YouTube should shut the channel down for child abuse.

If you can bear to watch the videos, the guy's name is DaddyOFive, and I'd urge you to take a few minutes and report their videos for child abuse. I really don't understand how in this day and age, this kind of thing isn't investigated more quickly. The child is sobbing, and regularly in horrendous distress at the bullying at the hands of his parents and siblings, so these videos could trigger people; that's why I haven't directly linked them and why I've placed a warning on the top of my post.

I was shocked last week when I read this thread that people were talking about the children being removed from the biological mother as 'fact'. The children are in her care now, the courts obviously thought she is capable. I really hope the people bad mouthing her feel ashamed. There was a lot of false information given on this thread last week about the mother. My understanding is the children were not removed from her but the father happened to win the court case. That happened with my children too. Less then a month later the courts returned them to my care and admitted the previous outcome was wrong because my children were being abused.

Reports are saying the children have been removed from the home...

DeleteOrDecay · 02/05/2017 13:50

I just saw that too Mary. I'm so glad Cody and Emma are now away from that toxic household.

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 02/05/2017 15:13

Can only hope that now they are back with their mum they can get the proper help and support they're likely going to need, and that their lives settle down.

ZilphasHatpin · 02/05/2017 15:18

I'm glad to hear this. TBH I think there is a lot more to the story than we know particularly on the mother's side and I hope these two children are getting ongoing support from CPS. They will need it. Also hope the other 3 children are still being considered as that is still an abusive family.

AlexanderHamilton · 02/05/2017 15:21

Great to hear they have been removed from an abusuve environment.

Amazing news! Just read it in the sun too

Glad they're safe and can begin to move on.

blubberball · 03/05/2017 03:29

Hope that the kids can feel safe and happy now that they're hopefully far away from their abusers. I hope that the other children are also safe. Daddyozero.

blubberball · 03/05/2017 03:39

The "parents" should be in prison for child abuse.

differentnameforthis · 03/05/2017 03:46

harrypotternerd Exactly! They seemed to gloss over the fact that the "step mother" (I use the term loosely) forged the mothers signature on legal papers and make it look like she (biological mother) was giving up her parental rights to one of the smaller children.

Also really pleased to hear this news! I cheered when I read about it this morning (am in Oz)

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 17/05/2017 07:34

Was it them who had the children taken away recently? I think a lot of people complained to the US CPS or SS (including MNetters) and action was taken?

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 17/05/2017 07:35

Argh! I thought I refreshed the page and the last post was in April! Don't mind me.

FerretsAreFeminists · 18/08/2017 09:41

Sorry for bringing this thread back up, but it looks like they are facing child neglect charges.

I say good. Throw the book at them.
