*Trigger Warning* AIBU to not understand how this YouTuber isn't being investigated for child abuse?

So I actually found out about this channel via another large forum I post on. Essentially, a YouTube channel which is called DaddyOFive (it's reasonably large, around three quarters of a million subscribers) centres around a blog made by the father, with 5 children. The upshot of it is, people were angry about how the family, lead by the father; bully one of their children Cody, and pass it off as just 'good old fashioned parenting!'

At first until I checked out the videos I honestly thought it couldn't be that bad. I was horribly wrong. Some of the videos are entitled:
Dad burns Cody's Pokemon cards
Dad destroys son's DS
Dad forces son to throw away his toys
I'm sending Cody to military school

In their most recent video, because Cody had been bad (smeared poop on the walls; a recognised sign of abuse and distress), they took all the other kids to DisneyLand.

These videos are horrific, and despite them being located in the US, I really feel like CPS should be investigating and YouTube should shut the channel down for child abuse.

If you can bear to watch the videos, the guy's name is DaddyOFive, and I'd urge you to take a few minutes and report their videos for child abuse. I really don't understand how in this day and age, this kind of thing isn't investigated more quickly. The child is sobbing, and regularly in horrendous distress at the bullying at the hands of his parents and siblings, so these videos could trigger people; that's why I haven't directly linked them and why I've placed a warning on the top of my post.

Misspriggy you come on to this thread about a very emotive subject and belittled the trigger warning bestowed upon this thread because you don't deem it worthy despite the abuse DO5&co inflict on their children. Then you go on to post a video which is completely unrelated to the subject at hand and although this video may or may not be an important discussion point, it is the height of rudeness to try and push your agenda and change the subject of a thread in such a way.

I won't be looking at the link you posted because I have come on this thread to discuss and read about the family in question. If you want people to discuss your topic of choice in a serious and in depth way then make a separate thread and don't be so bloody rude in future.

misspriggy · 21/04/2017 17:06

Cos If I started a thread with that, no one would post, well some would just to tell me I'm Islamophobic or some such.

Weve had 20 pages of comments about this and I wanted to see what the reaction would be - I must say its been rather predictable 'how dare you', and 'your so rudes' your 'go and start your own thread'. cpomment etc..

I see this as a more pressing issue actually .. Girls as young as 6 years old being sold of to elderly pedophiles, in the name of Islam, and in this country, FGM tourism, yet no one says a Dicky Bird for fear of being culturally insensitive...

Why not, instead of hating me for posting with it, tell me your views?. What's the problem?

JessKM · 21/04/2017 17:20

I didn't in the first instance believe you were at all islamaphobic, however after that rant I'm a bit Hmm.

The lady in the video you posted is about the prophet Mohammed (pbuh) who I believe, and am willing to stand corrected here, died in AD682, so no, this is not a modern issue happening in this country.

I believe you could have an interesting topic for a thread, and if people keep their pre-conceived notions and their ill-educated views of out it - it could be a good discussion. However here is not the right place for it. This is a separate issue.

DeleteOrDecay · 21/04/2017 17:38

Start your own thread and you might stand a better chance of getting some serious replies. I don't respond to rude people who barge into a thread and attempt to change its subject matter.

BillSykesDog · 21/04/2017 17:44

So MissPriggy, what did you do when you saw these children being abused locally to you?

misspriggy · 21/04/2017 17:55

not a modern issue happening in this country? So we can all just go back to sleep and pretend all's well, can we, because all that ended 1,500 years ago did it?

And that "Lady"or (as I prefer to call her) contemptible, brainwashed, effing moron making apologies for pedophilia, slavery, rape and kidnap, she too should just be ignored?

The fact that over a thousand child marriages have taken place in Germany alone and this

www.theguardian.com/society/2016/mar/08/number-of-forced-marriages-in-uk-continues-to-fall

Can all be waved away too I s'pose?

Telling me to take the subject elsewhere, tells me all i need to know about whats important to you. Perhaps someone else has a view?

Start your own thread, MissPriggy.

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 21/04/2017 18:00

Whilst FGM, forced child marriage, rape and abuse are all very valid issues in need of discussing and sorting out, they are 100% irrelevant to the Martin family's apparent abuse of their children. Unless, of course, you are in possession of some knowledge that they inflict all of that upon their children too?
If not, it's not relevant to this discussion and yes, you should start you're own thread.

DeleteOrDecay · 21/04/2017 18:06

Telling me to take the subject elsewhere, tells me all i need to know about whats important to you. Perhaps someone else has a view?

I don't know how you came to that conclusion. Lots of things are important to me but I don't tend to bring them up on threads that aren't relevant. Instead I seek out threads related to my interests or alternatively I start my own. It's polite not to try and take over other people's threads with your own agenda.

JessKM · 21/04/2017 18:23

nothing, out of fear of being bashed up

So you stood by and watched abuse happening, literally IN FRONT OF YOU, and did nothing - but think a 2 minute clip of an unnamed, un dated out of context clip of a woman speaking is outrageous and you want someone to do something about that?

misspriggy · 21/04/2017 18:24

So its my agenda is it? Not one for all of us? Yet you dont know how I got that conclusion about where your priorities lie?? Great stuff....

So no actual comments then, other than -- Just 'go away' ?

Fair enough. I'll take my horrid agenda elsewhere

BillSykesDog · 21/04/2017 18:25

You wouldn't get 'bashed up' if you reported it anonymously. Anyway, it's whataboutery. It's possible to care about more than one thing at a time and the fact there are child brides doesn't make what's happening to these kids okay.

JessKM · 21/04/2017 18:26

I already gave you a reasoned comment when you first opened your little can of worms, I said I would find it an interesting discussion but this wasn't the right place.

BitOutOfPractice · 21/04/2017 18:28

You're very selective on your outrage aren't you Spriggy?

JessKM · 21/04/2017 18:41

I just can't wrap my head around why you wouldn't want to start a new thread about it misspriggy? If it's something you feel passionately about why hide it here on page 22 of a different discussion???

DeleteOrDecay · 21/04/2017 19:05

So no actual comments then, other than -- Just 'go away' ?

Yep, maybe if you started your own thread on the subject you might attract more reasoned replies. Just a suggestion.

Totallyblurred · 21/04/2017 20:23

Umm, @BillSykesDog
I didn't accuse the authorities of stealing children, don't take my comment out of context. I said they've been let down.
Any need for the snotty comment?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 21/04/2017 20:25

Nice way to derail the thread everyone...

Very mature.

Jellybean85 · 21/04/2017 20:26

Been thinking about this since I first saw this thread, a friend just posted a link to this saying how awful is. Glad they seem to be being investigated

whattheactualfudge · 21/04/2017 21:09

Any update on this situation? X

Bloody derailing poster Angry I'm so horrified by the do5 vids - it's surreal. Wish it wasn't real though Sad

vanrecovered · 21/04/2017 21:54

Have been haunted by these videos Sad and that poster going on about the trigger warning, well how nice for you to not understand the need for that.
