*Trigger Warning* AIBU to not understand how this YouTuber isn't being investigated for child abuse?

So I actually found out about this channel via another large forum I post on. Essentially, a YouTube channel which is called DaddyOFive (it's reasonably large, around three quarters of a million subscribers) centres around a blog made by the father, with 5 children. The upshot of it is, people were angry about how the family, lead by the father; bully one of their children Cody, and pass it off as just 'good old fashioned parenting!'

At first until I checked out the videos I honestly thought it couldn't be that bad. I was horribly wrong. Some of the videos are entitled:
Dad burns Cody's Pokemon cards
Dad destroys son's DS
Dad forces son to throw away his toys
I'm sending Cody to military school

In their most recent video, because Cody had been bad (smeared poop on the walls; a recognised sign of abuse and distress), they took all the other kids to DisneyLand.

These videos are horrific, and despite them being located in the US, I really feel like CPS should be investigating and YouTube should shut the channel down for child abuse.

If you can bear to watch the videos, the guy's name is DaddyOFive, and I'd urge you to take a few minutes and report their videos for child abuse. I really don't understand how in this day and age, this kind of thing isn't investigated more quickly. The child is sobbing, and regularly in horrendous distress at the bullying at the hands of his parents and siblings, so these videos could trigger people; that's why I haven't directly linked them and why I've placed a warning on the top of my post.

billsykesdog any need? Do you normally go around insulting people you've never met or know nothing about?

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I respected tor opinion until you began behaving like a child.

ShoesHaveSouls · 20/04/2017 12:05

Sadly, I don't think CPS will do anything. As a PP said, they are well fed, clothed and housed. They will back up the father in whatever he says: "it's just a prank, bruh" or it's fake, scripted.

But at the very least, he's taken those videos down, and (possibly? hopefully?) won't be making any more dosh from mentally torturing those kids.

BillSykesDog · 20/04/2017 12:08

Sorry, but it's not insulting to state a fact. That is clearly and obviously fake. I don't think you can expect your opinion to be respected when it's a completely ridiculous one. Wanting something to be true doesn't make it true.

JessKM · 20/04/2017 12:22

Do you think that anyone wants any of this to BE TRUE. Does anyone on this thread hope that this little boy is indeed being abused, that his mother did lose custody and can't protect him????

It is insulting - you expect your opinion to be listened to on here clearly, I recommend you drop the matter and agree to disagree like respectful adults do. It's okay to disagree, it happens every day in life but the second you start name calling you're argument loses all credibility.

You have your opinions and I have mine, as I have previously stated I will believe that document to be real until it is proven otherwise, when and if that happens, as an adult il admit I'm wrong, --try it sometime.-- Until then run along and enjoy your day.

JessKM · 20/04/2017 12:24

souls it would be very sad if this turns out to be true, but at the very least they're legally bound to investigate. So that's something. Also they must take the mums accusations seriously, I just hope someone comes forward to represent her legally as this is clearly an argument that needs to be played out in a court, not in a trailer park. Those poor children.

BillSykesDog · 20/04/2017 12:33

You want the police report from the mother to be true. It's clearly not. I don't know how you can throw insults round at somebody else when you believe that to be genuine. It's like a kid taking a fake PE note to school it's that bad.

It's doubtful the mother reported it to the police, she probably didn't give a shit until it hit the news. And she's already had both her children removed from her care.

JessKM · 20/04/2017 12:51

You're really struggling with the concept of an opinion aren't you???

What proof do you have that she doesn't give a shit about her children? Have you met her? You're very quick to judge someone you know nothing about (again!)

Let's not start demonising the mother - it's the father that has committed the crime!

WannaBe · 20/04/2017 13:04

I can't read the alleged police report as it's all images and I'm using a screenreader, but presumably if there was a police report out there on the internet and it was plausible, someone from the media might have approached the officer in question by now to verify it?

Added to which, the mother stated in that interview that she'd sent the children to live with their father because of the boy's behavioural issues and it was while he was there that the SM had faked her signature, and when it came to court it was deemed in his best interests that he not be returned to his mother, and the daughter lives with them as well so hardly indicative of a perfect parent on the mother's side even if the means by which the children ended up with the father were underhand as well.

Sounds like none of the adults have covered themselves in glory here.

DeleteOrDecay · 20/04/2017 13:06

It's not an opinion that that document is obviously fake, its a fact. If you believe it to be true after having the obvious fake-ness of it pointed out to you then more fool you.

milkmilklemonade12 · 20/04/2017 13:09

Also not forgetting that the legal system is fucked in the US; it's much worse than the UK. If the bio mum doesn't have money, she's absolutely screwed. The DO5 family clearly have a steady income from the advertising and merchandising.

No what I mean is if you have a child with additional needs, you have to adapt what you do, I smother my DC in love regardless, but say they had extra needs, you would be more empathetic and supportive, over using a weakness against them. Thanks for explaining! Apologies for reading it wrong.

You want the police report from the mother to be true. It's clearly not. In your opinion, it is not true. You can no more vouch for it's falseness, than anyone can vouch for it's authenticity. You dismissing it because of miss spellings is bizarre. I know many professionals who cannot spell, why it is unlikely that a police officer gets words wrong?

WannaBe · 20/04/2017 13:11

/kikicrystalripple at no point have I suggested that Katie Price is a child abuser along the lines of these parents. But it is a fact that she has in the past very much used her children for financial gain, and has manipulated situations (Harvey using the C word on Loose women for instance) in order to gain publicity. And reality is that people will watch that kind of programming and ultimately others wil think that they too could make money by having programmes about their children, and thus the programmes become more extreme.

If Katie Price's life is just every day life, then why not make a programme about oh, I don't know, having twenty kids, the first of which was conceived as the result of statutory rape, and boom, you end up with the Radfords who are definitely a bit more extreme in terms of their lives, kids bringing up kids, children locked in their bedrooms at night, it's borderline at the very least.

And then comes along the craze that is YouTube, and suddenly anyone can make a video about their family, and anyone might watch it. And so they do. And that is how you end up with these video's where a family is deliberately singling out one child for the purposes of entertainment. And at no point along the way are people looking at these various footages and concluding that actually it's a bit much and they ought to stop watching. Instead the footage becomes boring and so they look for something more extreme, which is why this family has so many viewers.

JessKM · 20/04/2017 13:18

differentname you've literally read my mind!!!!!

milkmilk this is so true! And echoed by the many people who have mentioned on here that they have 'a nice house' therefore they can't be abusive? Hmm a homeless family could be amazing parents, a millionaire could be the worst, the size of their house shouldn't come into the equation, sadly it will though. This is why I hope this mum can find someone to fight her corner for her!!!

JessKM · 20/04/2017 13:20

The PP who mentioned the mother wasn't the perfect parent either?

Who is??

I think it's unfair to judge her based on the very little that is known.

The people I feel most sorry for here are Cody and Emma, there is a no win situation whatever happens.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/04/2017 13:23

There's merchandising? What the actual fucking place have we come to? That's it. I've heard it all now and I'm appalled.

JessKM · 20/04/2017 13:24

Is there bit?!?!? What kind of merchandising??!! Thats appalling

BillSykesDog · 20/04/2017 13:29

A judge judged her unfit on the basis of a lot more evidence than we've seen. A policeman wouldn't write a report full of basic spelling errors that gives an opinion on a custody case he has no authority over, does not know the history of and is irrelevant to his job.

differentnameforthis · 20/04/2017 13:31

And you know what...it doesn't actually matter if that police report is fake, or if Katie bloody Price exploits her kids, none of that negates what these kids are being put through. Even the older kids are going to grow up with issues, being told not to hits= girls, but it's OK if it's your sister...it is obviously also OK if it is your daughter, so eventually it will OK if it is your wife/gf.

Little Cody is actually very knowing for his age, and for what he is put through..to be able to voice, among all this shit he takes "just leave me alone to calm down" shows how clever he is...no one can tell me that he doesn't know what is happening..in his head, NONE of this is staged/scripted/acted. He is living this, and sneering about fake police reports, and other celebs is doing him no favours at all!!

They are treated as cash cows, it's like cock-fighting. Survival of the fittest (or oldest, in this case!)

JessKM · 20/04/2017 13:34

Wine il drink to that

differentnameforthis · 20/04/2017 13:35

What kind of merchandising??!! You can see some of it in the videos...the younger boys wear DoF tees, and apparently there are wristbands too.

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/04/2017 13:37

Update from Philip DeMarco

JessKM · 20/04/2017 13:38

Lord above, probably something this wankers had made himself Hmm

differentnameforthis · 20/04/2017 13:40

A judge judged her unfit on the basis of a lot more evidence than we've seen. And judges never get it wrong, do they? Like the judge who insists that my friend keep sending her teenage daughter to see her father who is abusive towards them both and has said very sexual stuff to her (the 13yr old)

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/04/2017 13:42

*DeFranco

JessKM · 20/04/2017 13:54

Thanks bore that's really interesting!!!

especially about the allegations made by the mother - who has admitted she has bi-polar disorder and learning difficulties, which Mike Martin allegedly used against her to gain custody. What a stand up guy he is.
