Corbyn is lovely, why the negativity?

Really, why?
Just because he's a bit different in his presentation. He in principled and compassionate, I for one wish he would become the PM.

ugly I don't hate Corbyn. I simply don't rate him.

ghostyslovesheets · 18/04/2017 16:18

Ugly - and what is he doing about it? He is the leader of OUR party - he's never on the news, in the press, on QT - he is invisible - and that's unforgivable in the face of all the things you mention!

I don't hate him at all - I just don't think he's a great choice for leader and the public seem to agree

HappyMayDay · 18/04/2017 16:20

the Tories are systematically killing off the poor and the disabled in this country

Killing them off or reigning in benefits?

'State-sponsored' shouldn't be a lifestyle choice and the government are doing some desperately needed culling of the endless Blair era handouts.

ghostyslovesheets · 18/04/2017 16:20

also Ugly when you knock on door what do people say to you about him - I find that an awful lot of ordinary working class people aren't hearing his message - but they are picking up UKIPs loud and clear

ghostyslovesheets · 18/04/2017 16:21

Happy that's a pretty shit comment in the face of suicides by disabled people facing the loss of basic help

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 18/04/2017 16:23

also Ugly when you knock on door what do people say to you about him

I can't speak for Ugly but the door knocking I have done in the past and DH is doing, it is that Labour voters won't vote Labour while JC is leader. He is a big sticking point.

flyingwithwings · 18/04/2017 16:24

What should be of particular 'disbelief' to Labour supporters is the projection of losing 15 seats in the North West of England 7 in Wales and three in the North East . The three North East constituencies of Darlington, Middlesbourgh South and Cleveland , Bishop Auckland are towns linked to mining .

Elendon · 18/04/2017 16:25

This is the Labour Party website page. It's all Corbyn. (J McDonnell seems to have disappeared). Plus there are two photos of a lot of women standing with Corbyn.

www.labour.org.uk/index.php/home

NoLotteryWinYet · 18/04/2017 16:26

i just had an email asking me to donate 'from' Jeremy Corbyn. There was no button for 'not whilst JC is leader, ditch him and I'll door knock for you'!

HappyMayDay · 18/04/2017 16:27

@ghosty So are you saying they're killing themselves off and it isn't the Conservative government?

Labour overspent and drained the country. Of course the fervent Tory-haters tend to be the ones who do have a state-sponsored lifestyle and are desperately sad to see it go. Many (most) others support themselves and like the idea of others doing the same.

The hatred towards Tory voters must be exhausting. Funnily enough (and ironically, considering the way Labour and Lib Dem view Conservatives), it's the left who have real vitriol to spew.

NauticalDisaster · 18/04/2017 16:30

What is lovely about him? I think previous posters have already shown that he is anything but lovely but nothing to show how he is a good leader or would make a good PM.

ghostyslovesheets · 18/04/2017 16:30

Happy no one is really discussing Tory voter on this thread :)

The cuts to disability benefit are barbaric

you are wrong about Labour overspending and draining the country - also austerity isn't doing much for us at all is it?

But this thread is really focusing on JC - maybe you confused it with the actual thread about voting tory

Anon1234567890 · 18/04/2017 16:32

What is principled about having the same views you had 40 years ago when you were at university? Most intelligent people I know learn as they get older, get life experience and as a result there opinions change over time.

JC is stuck in the past.

EnjoyYourVegetables · 18/04/2017 16:32

Fruitlovingmonkey, I'd be worried what I'd done if he offered me a cuppa!

tobee · 18/04/2017 16:33

I will still be voting Labour (Tory/Labour seat here recently) in the fervent hope that he will resign after being annihilated on June 8th. Then we need to start rebuilding the party quick smart. I wouldn't put it past him to stay on though...."This is a good result for Labour. People predicted we would get 3 seats and we got 4! We will now take this forward to build for winning in 2022. I have a huge mandate with from the Labour Party.. blah blah blah" AngrySad

PS I don't think it's wrong for an MP to be ambitious. In fact it's pretty hopeless if they are not.

Elendon · 18/04/2017 16:34

Happy Your party is in disarray at the moment too. UKIP are targeting seats in the home counties, as I predicted, and there will be lost seats in the Tory party.

I think Johnson will lose his seat. But I also think Corbyn will as well.

NoLotteryWinYet · 18/04/2017 16:35

that's why i won't cast a single vote for labour whilst he's a leader of it - because he will portray any result as a victory. I don't think he'll go even in the teeth of losing another 70 MPs - he won't go until the members vote him out imo.

Bringmesunshite · 18/04/2017 17:00

Labour don't get my vote this time purely because he is leader. I am in my 50s and have voted Labour all my life. No more assuming I will vote for you as long as that weak pile of nonsense is leader.
At least Michael Foot had some integrity and intellect- but this smacks of what happened to Labour when he was leader.

YellowPrimula · 18/04/2017 17:08

He couldn't organise a children's tea party , I think it is interesting that anybody who has ever worked for him has a very low opinion of him.

Added to which he is a mysoginist, anti Semite.

To the person who said he hasn't moved on since university , he didn't go to university , he has two A levels at grade E and is totally incapable of processsing large amounts of information, complex documents etc .Hopeless, he should go back to his allotment .

ArcheryAnnie · 18/04/2017 17:12

uglyflowers it's because Corbyn is doing fuck-all to oppose the nastier Tory policies, and in some cases is shoring them up, that I hate him so.

I want a Labour government. I would settle for an effective Labour opposition. I am not going to get either while Corbyn is leader.

OnionKnight · 18/04/2017 17:14

He's a spineless cunt.

user1487947495 · 18/04/2017 17:19

He will probably be gone in 2 months. Which will be a relief for longstanding Labour voters like me who despair of the Labour party with him in charge. I will not be voting Labour this time.

Elendon · 18/04/2017 17:20

It's such a freedom to be able to speak your mind on these matters on Mumsnet.

tobee · 18/04/2017 17:22

NoLottery that's why I'm staying in the party, to vote him out. I will be voting for my Labour candidate, my local party did not support him. But for the first time ever I understand why people won't be voting Labour and I think it will be impossible for me to campaign for Labour and defend him on the doorstep.

MariposaLibertad · 18/04/2017 17:23

It doesn't matter how much opposition Corbyn presents against May and the government (which he does regularly) because the mainstream media won't report it. It doesn't matter how many good policies Corbyn puts forward because the mainstream media won't report them. There is a sustained media attack against Corbyn as this study found.

I want to see Corbyn as PM, I want to see his policies implemented.
