Corbyn is lovely, why the negativity?

Really, why?
Just because he's a bit different in his presentation. He in principled and compassionate, I for one wish he would become the PM.

I am a bit cross with the moderates too Nolottery, I think they should have split ages ago and maybe something could have been salvaged. Its too late now I think. I do understand their reluctance to abandon a party for which they have worked so hard.

EnjoyYourVegetables · 20/04/2017 14:38

I think the example of the SDP was also held up as a warning that a split party will end up going nowhere. You need a broad consensus to win in fptp.

brasty · 20/04/2017 14:40

We are going to have Tories in power for 10 years, then Labour will finally get its act together. Sadly

nauticant · 20/04/2017 15:00

I wasn't very impressed with Corbyn's speech launching his election campaign today. In the questions after his speech he was asked by Martha Kearney (BBC):

You've outlined a number of policies recently. Do you ever worry that Labour, the policies themselves may be popular, but Labour under you has become a tainted brand?

and Corbyn's spokesperson who was handling the conference cried down Kearney with a dismissive noise and said:

and you've got such a lovely top on as well

This is what May will be up against.

Batgirlspants · 20/04/2017 15:01

Couldn't agree more with you snd birds your post about who the Corbyn magic woll blame after the election is spot on.

Just trying to remember back how long it took for Labour to regroup after Foot lost to Maggie? 10 years??

That's what we are looking at folks 5/10 years of regrouping, expelling momentum and looking like a winning party fit to govern.

Anon1234567890 · 20/04/2017 15:13

and you've got such a lovely top on as well

Lol classic JC, hiding behind a woman who is nice but dim.

nauticant · 20/04/2017 15:19

That's exactly how it came across.

MissSmilie · 20/04/2017 15:22

Hang on.... did the top comment happen today?

Are you serious ?

Batgirlspants · 20/04/2017 15:23

Didn't she also say something about 'the only thing that comes after may is june' Hmm or similar. Corbyn laughed like it was hilarious. Very cringy.

Batgirlspants · 20/04/2017 15:24

Yep smile it did. Wholly inappropriate and patronising

MissSmilie · 20/04/2017 15:28

Dear God.

RunRabbitRunRabbit · 20/04/2017 15:28

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was spitting at the lovely top sexist crap.

I was so outraged I just started a thread (with a link to the audio).
Demeaning-a-female-journalist-but-youve-got-such-a-lovely-top-on

I hardly ever start threads!

MissSmilie · 20/04/2017 15:32

So, this morning JC spoke of how there was a media conspiracy against him; then he spoke about how the electoral system is rigged; then he supports sexist bullshit against a female journalist via a dim mouthpiece.

Trump anyone?

Batgirlspants · 20/04/2017 15:32

Good for you Run

QueenOlivine · 20/04/2017 15:36

Lol classic JC, hiding behind a woman who is nice but dim.

Totally! He also hides behind Diane Abbott. I wonder if maybe he surrounds himself with people who he personally can feel superior to at some level, because they are dim, or female, or working-class (or possibly also if they are non-white) while also using this to give him a veneer of right-on kudos.

Except when they say something like that.

Batgirlspants · 20/04/2017 15:41

On the other 'who will you vote for thread' just been told again it's all a right wing press conspiracy against him.

Yawn fucking yawn.

NoLotteryWinYet · 20/04/2017 15:45

hilarity! It's so funny how people voting labour for 20 years and who've never touched a Murdoch paper are at the whim of the MSM!

GretchenFranklin · 20/04/2017 15:52

I think an alliance is the only hope

the leftish vote has forever been split between Labour, Libdem now SNP.

So we could have the Lib Lab party, and a nice socialist party for hardcore lefties.

ShatnersWig · 20/04/2017 15:53

Scary Sigh. It is perfectly possible to think Corbyn is or would be a total disaster and still think the Tories are making a disaster of the job. The irony, which is clearly lost on you, is that the Tories are only IN this position and will continue to be in this position BECAUSE of totally ineffectual opposition by the Labour party, both under Milliband but especially under Corbyn. If he is a disaster leading his party - which the majority of voters think he is - why on earth would we think it sensible to vote him in to be a disaster of a prime minister. Yes, I may hate what the Tories are doing but quite honestly I don't believe the country would be better off or safer under the current Labour lot and that is a VERY sad state of affairs.

Anon1234567890 · 20/04/2017 16:02

I think an alliance is the only hope

That would be gold for the Tories election campaign. They are already spinning "the coalition of chaos"!
The Lib Lab party a nice socialist group for hardcore lefties lead by the political titan Jeremy Corrrrrrrrbyn.

ROFLMFAO

scaryclown · 20/04/2017 16:11

The Tories are there because the SNP took so many labour MPs and because people were nostalgic for a bit of old fashioned holier than thou racism.

scaryclown · 20/04/2017 16:18

I would vote for an SNP and Labour coalition, with an end brexit manifesto and mandate, however first past the post can't allow that without a very tight vote in England which would need Linden's to participate.. and i think a three way coalition as a returned favour would be problematic, however they could buy Libdem's with a PR referendum maybe?

Personally i would like to see that kind of cooperation and a progressive more European politics. I'm tired of the last night of the proms, shotgun to the poor type of conservatism.

Summerisdone · 20/04/2017 16:23

I don't think it's as simple as him being a lovely person or not, his party need to have faith in him which they don't.
If a lot of his own party don't have faith then the party cannot be run well therefore he is not then suitable to run the country.

Like any business, it doesn't matter how nice the manager may seem, if their staff have little to no respect for them and the way they run the business, then it will reflect very badly on the service received by customers.

GretchenFranklin · 20/04/2017 16:25

what about SNP LIbdem

currently reading Paddy Pantsdown article in the Inde

I have literally no idea who I am anymore

makeourfuture · 20/04/2017 16:29

Well yes in addition to the still potent racism/anti-immigrationalism, there is a terrible lingering problem of classism.

There seems to be a visceral hatred of the poor now...almost a desire to get revenge.
