Corbyn is lovely, why the negativity?

Really, why?
Just because he's a bit different in his presentation. He in principled and compassionate, I for one wish he would become the PM.

No Lottery I don't think Corbyn himself ever called party members or voters traitors, did he? Others in the party may have done but I didn't think that was his style at all.

So much bullshit on this thread it's unbelievable.

Wettingthetopbunkbed · 18/04/2017 21:29

I love him and won't hear a word said against him actually think he's quite fit Blush

Is that some sort of code for you just not liking what people are saying?

One good MP is already not standing again because of Corbyn. Another has said they will stand for their constituents but can't really endorse Corbyn as leader and he needs to go.

How many more will do the same over the next few days?

ghostyslovesheets · 18/04/2017 21:37

Holds up a defiant fist to IfNot - totally agree with your post

Ailisha · 18/04/2017 22:32

No Piglet it's not code for not liking people's opinions. To be clear - I mean, there's a lot of outright lies and misinformation, i.e. in common parlance, bullshit.

ArcheryAnnie · 18/04/2017 22:34

Then why don't you tell us what the lies here are, specifically, Ailisha?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 18/04/2017 22:35

So would you vote for him because he's 'lovely' and you fancy him, OP?

Wettingthetopbunkbed · 18/04/2017 22:43

I feel very fortunate to be living in an age where I can vote for such a visionary, gentle and integrity filled person.
Tony Benn said that in politics there are sign posts and weather cocks. Sign posts show the way and weather cocks just blow around according to popular opinion. I see JC as a sign post.
I don't think he'll get in but the beauty of him is that he really doesn't have any ego so doesn't crave power got powers sake. He just provides an alternative vision for our country.
I don't need my leaders to be polished gout-ridden headmaster/mistress types to feel in so called 'safe hands'.

OP posts:
LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 18/04/2017 22:46

You talk like you actually know him - gentle and integrity filled? How do you know that?

One question - what do you think of someone with his education leading a party which is proposing to charge VAT on school fees - don't you think that's a tad hypocritical and a little like pulling the ladder up behind him?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 18/04/2017 22:46

Or is it him being gentle and principled and lovely?

ArcheryAnnie · 18/04/2017 22:49

he really doesn't have any ego

< hollow laugh >

dontbesillyhenry · 18/04/2017 22:51

Fit? As in a socially awkward geography teacher kind of way?

dontbesillyhenry · 18/04/2017 22:51

Now Ed balls- I'd ride him like red rum

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 18/04/2017 22:52

Come on OP - how long have you lived with him - I assume you do as you seem to know his personality? Grin

ShatnersWig · 18/04/2017 22:59

Thanks for the laugh, OP.

bojorojo · 18/04/2017 23:01

Regardless of what the OP thinks about JC and Labour Members in Labour strongholds, the big problem is that although these strongholds will remain, no seats will be gained. In fact marginals will be lost. There are lots and lots of these. Therefore the JC leadership is not likely to see Labour win an election. Many people are now wondering if Labour is really a political party or a pressure group. Pressure groups have principals, but Political Parties are far more nuanced and astute and, surprise, surprise, want to govern! They want to gain power and do something. JC as leader of a Labour has steered the party away from a cutting edge opposition and no-one is now taking much interest in him or Labour. People don't know what they stand for, other than for spending billions on a myriad of sound bites they want everyone else to pay for. Generally a party asking ordinary people to pay more tax is never elected! They have effectively removed the best Labour MPs from the limelight, imported people no-one knows, except Diane Abbot of course, and even Labour voters are looking elsewhere. Labour Members pressed the self-destruct button with JC. Serves them right for electing an incompetent leader. I cannot believe anyone actually thought he was PM material. We would just be a joke! So TM will win and Labour will continue with its Leader with worthless principles. Pointless I'm afraid.

ShatnersWig · 18/04/2017 23:19

One poll tonight is suggesting Tory majority could be as high as 124, with Labour losing almost 60 seats. Clearly, no matter what people think of the state of the country, the NHS, Brexit, Corbyn has totally and utterly failed to engage with the electorate

birdsdestiny · 18/04/2017 23:23

I can't believe how furious this thread is making me. I would rather have a Tory than those who support corbyn. An alternative vision for the country? Well that will help the disabled, the poor, won't it? Am sure their situation will be transformed beyond recognition because somewhere there is a man sharing his alternative vision to 200 people. Corbyn supporters know he won't win but they just don't care. Their interest in changing the lives of the vulnerable is zero.

Batghee · 18/04/2017 23:24

YANBU i love Corbyn and i wish people would actually vote for someone they agree with! I have tonnes of my friends saying things like 'he doesnt look the part' 'he doesnt talk enough spin' and im thinking 'is that really whats important to you or is it just what the media told you was important'
Surely the content of what he says is the most important thing... if you agree with the content of what he says then vote for him!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 18/04/2017 23:28

Absolutely content is key - but being 'lovely' is no more useful than being able to spin and is fairly shallow

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 18/04/2017 23:31

And nobody has answered my comment about the VAT on school fees. He had a good education but seems happy to stop others doing the same unless they are loaded

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 18/04/2017 23:33

I don't think he'll get in but the beauty of him is that he really doesn't have any ego so doesn't crave power got powers sake

Hmm
LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 18/04/2017 23:35

Piglet Grin

TonaldDrump · 18/04/2017 23:36

Because he allows anti-semitism to pollute the Labour Party, as exemplified by not expelling Ken Livingstone

ArcheryAnnie · 18/04/2017 23:37

Surely the content of what he says is the most important thing... if you agree with the content of what he says then vote for him!

Batghee I prefer to look at what he's done rather than what he says (though I don't like some of what he says, either - and I'm as left as they come).

He claimed to be a Remainer, but was in reality a Leaver too cowardly to be open about it, and instead just constantly sabotaged his labour colleagues' Remain efforts.

Inside parliament he put a three-line-whip on Labour MPs to vote for triggering Article 50, and then did a lot of performative nonsense, calling a rally outside parliament to oppose Brexit. Who was the rally demonstrating against? Himself for voting for Brexit? Who knows.

Most of the time when we've been crying out for a swift, decisive opposition to the awful things the bloody Tories do, he's either feeble, or late, or absent altogether.

There's no point in him saying all the nice things in the world if he's either unwilling or unable to deliver.
