to think having sex on the sofa is gross?

Our two year old sleeps in our bed. This is soon to change as I'm pregnant but in the meantime, every night without fail DP is wink wink nudge nudging me about coming down to shag on the sofa after I put her to bed. AIBU to think it's a bit grim? It's a black fabric sofa. Our DC sit and eat on it.

So as not to be accused of drip feeding, I don't mean we shouldn't have sex until she moves to her own bed. We often do during the day when she naps in her pushchair while her siblings are at school or in the morning at weekends if she's off downstairs with her siblings. But on the sofa just feels wrong and unhygienic.

Just found this thread. We were going at it once on the sofa when we got too vigorous and it tipped over backwards. We ended up in a bundle on the floor, rather surprised but uninjured. It stopped play for a while because we couldn't stop laughing.

UndersecretaryofWhimsy · 16/04/2017 16:02

I thought everyone knew that, just as a wedding isn't official until someone knocks over the cake/throws up on the table/says 'fuck' to an elderly maiden aunt, a sofa isn't really yours until you've broken it in.

Andrewofgg · 16/04/2017 17:09

Anywhere except the ceiling.

alltouchedout · 16/04/2017 17:41

This is why everyone has sofa throws now op!

MaryShelley1818 · 16/04/2017 17:53

We regularly fuck on the sofa...bent over the back of the sofa, on the kitchen table, against the work benches, in the shower etc etc
Spice of life and all that!

KungFuPandaWorksOut16 · 16/04/2017 18:22

The only place I haven't had sex around my house is my childs bedroom. I just find that a bit weird.

Ooh! And stairs I just can't see it being that comfortable HmmConfused

MrsHenryWales · 16/04/2017 18:25

Love stairs!! I've never bothered with the utility room. Or the downstairs loo.

KungFuPandaWorksOut16 · 16/04/2017 18:29

mrs I think I've avoided stairs because mine are quite awkwardly shaped and can't imagine it being comfortable. At least with the floor you can throw a cushion or blanket down. But going off how many are recommending the stairs I might have to try it out Grin

oblada · 16/04/2017 18:30

I agree with PP saying that it's way more unhygienic for kids to be eating on the sofa!!! I'd stop that :) use a throw, have sex on the floor, put kid to sleep in another bed for a few hours in the evening, or indeed if you have a big bed you can still dtd in there (but can see it may not help acrobatic sex! Or generally be a turn off), loads of options!

chickenjalfrezi · 16/04/2017 18:31

Think I'll be shifting uncomfortably next time I go to someone's house with a sofa throw and wondering if they're a MNetter Confused

SnicketyLemon · 16/04/2017 18:39

I thought everyone shagged on the sofa occasionally! Get a throw or a blanket to put over it.
if you're still not happy with that doggie style minimises contact with the surface Wink

Andrewofgg · 16/04/2017 20:09

Is it true that you can sit on the sofa too, then?

Oblomov17 · 16/04/2017 20:10

Unhygienic? FFS don't be so stupid.

happypoobum · 16/04/2017 20:16

YABU not to shag on the sofa.

YANBU to mind that your DH is an annoying sex pest. He sounds obsessed Sad

Laiste · 16/04/2017 20:18

DD4 was conceived on the sofa.

We often have sex on the dinning room table and the bedroom window ledge.

Laiste · 16/04/2017 20:18

Oh, our bedroom window looks out onto fields i should add Grin

TeacupsAndDaffodils · 16/04/2017 20:36

Can't image what position would feel comfortable on our stairs, coupled with baby gates makes it impossible. Done it most other places in the house except dc's bedrooms and the utility room. Dc is a silent ninja so dtd discreetly is a must. Blush

Screwinthetuna · 16/04/2017 20:39

We co sleep and have done for years. Sofa with a blanket?

MulderitsmeX · 16/04/2017 20:53

Sofa shags are great- you'll have the best view of the tv Wink

ineedmoreLemonPledge · 16/04/2017 20:58

The great thing about a corner sofa is that you can brace your feet on each side of the "L" while your other half kneels down to taste the fruits of your lady garden.

Our stairs have huge gaps between them so if DP misfired chances are we'd have to clean the hall walls. Blush

AlmostAJillSandwich · 16/04/2017 21:03

It's not just you, i couldn't have sex on a sofa/dining table/kitchen worktop etc.
Tbh i don't like the idea of having sex IN a bed either, just on it, and after a shower first!

To be fair and transparent though, i have severe germ phobic OCD and i know i have hang ups the average person doesn't. I don't do nudity or even walking round/sleeping in just underwear. The thought of bodily fluids, and unwashed genitals/bums that have used the loo and not showered since touching things, makes my skin crawl.

qualityjaisket · 16/04/2017 21:40

Haven't RTFT but skimmed a few of OPs posts so apologise if PP have already phrased it like this;

You don't have a sofa problem. You have a DP problem.

smu06set · 17/04/2017 08:05

This thread has made me realise we haven't yet broken in our new sofa.... Grin

Kikikaakaa · 17/04/2017 08:10

I have a really nice fluffy rug that I prefer to the sofa. My sofa isn't very big. I am not bothered by sofa sex I mean hopefully no one is jizzing all over all of the seats are they?

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 17/04/2017 08:23

You need a chaise longue. It can be your dedicated sex chair. Just make sure the kids don't eat their happy meals on it.
