to think having sex on the sofa is gross?

Our two year old sleeps in our bed. This is soon to change as I'm pregnant but in the meantime, every night without fail DP is wink wink nudge nudging me about coming down to shag on the sofa after I put her to bed. AIBU to think it's a bit grim? It's a black fabric sofa. Our DC sit and eat on it.

So as not to be accused of drip feeding, I don't mean we shouldn't have sex until she moves to her own bed. We often do during the day when she naps in her pushchair while her siblings are at school or in the morning at weekends if she's off downstairs with her siblings. But on the sofa just feels wrong and unhygienic.

Hops ^seriously* God, another thing to add to the list of 'Why the fuck are you still with him?' :(.

Sofa sex is good sex! Very Good Sex. Just not with your DP. He'd not be getting anywhere! No way.

LittleGreyMeow · 15/04/2017 23:43

Sex on the sofa - not a problem (unless as worra rightly says, it's in DFS)

Sex Pest husband - very much a problem

paddypants13 · 15/04/2017 23:43

Invest in a leather sofa op, they're wipe clean! WinkGrin Nothing wrong with sofa sex imo.

Agree with pps who said you should be eating at the table.

expatinscotland · 15/04/2017 23:44

Scoot your bum down off the end and have him kneel. Duh. Sex pest husband, much bigger problem.

honeylulu · 15/04/2017 23:48

My youngest was conceived on our sofa.Blush
I was so drunk (final fling with alcohol before starting last ditch IVF) I then threw up in the kitchen sink. BlushBlush

I birth my babies where I made them. And none of them were born in my bedroom. The only stains on the sofa are from childbirth (although after much washing they have pretty much gone now) and where dc3 wipes dirty fingers when she eats on it (which isnt ideal and the reason the covers are washed so often).
Its not something I ever think about tbh, I assumed the sofa was a pretty standard place for sex.

Zoflorabore · 16/04/2017 01:05

My ds now 14 was conceived on the sofa.

Sofa sex is good when your bed backs on to ds's bed who can hear everything ( learnt from that one ) Blush

We do have a leather one though so much easier to clean.

What struck me was when you said your dp "pounces" is he a man or a lion?

intergalacticbrexitdisco · 16/04/2017 01:10

But don't leave the tv on as background. There's nothing less sexy than
BIRDSEYE CRISPY CHICKEN DIPPEEEEERRRZzz!

MrsHenryWales · 16/04/2017 01:10

Thinking out of the box here, you could have your children eat at the table instead of the sofa and not eat dropped food? Just a thought.

Or, alternatively, how about bent over the stairs?

Pohara1 · 16/04/2017 01:18

I love that there's so many sofa enthusiasts! But what about the bath, the kitchen table, worktops, on the washing machine or outside?

Seriously though, if it's the location you're genuinely uncomfortable with, find a different one, still out of earshot but where you feel more comfortable. If it's the husband pestering you for sex as soon as your dc are asleep, then you should probably tell him that.

Madwoman5 · 16/04/2017 02:56

Flip the seat cushions

Chamonix1 · 16/04/2017 07:03

Your 2 year old sleeps in your bed?
Your child also sits on the sofa so you won't have sex on it.
You will however have sex in the bed your 2 year old sleeps on whilst said 2 year old is asleep in her buggy?
Do you not see how silly that it?

Chamonix1 · 16/04/2017 07:07

X post.
Sex pest husband is the issue.
Tell him it's predictable and borderline harassment and whether he's got something in his eye next time he winks at you

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 16/04/2017 07:47

What's he doing while you're doing bedtime?

paddypants13 · 16/04/2017 09:50

Not a chance on my precious washing machine Pohara! You filthy animal! Wink

Ecureuil · 16/04/2017 09:54

DD2 was conceived on the sofa.

chickenjalfrezi · 16/04/2017 10:03

More disgusted here about letting the kids eat on the black fabric sofa than shagging on it personally.

SpookyPotato · 16/04/2017 10:13

Sofa sex has become essential since having two small DC in a one bed flat! Sometime the baby is only a metre away! Lock us up Wink We just put down a blanket or thin mattress protector.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 16/04/2017 11:47

If it wasn't for sofa sex I'd be having no sex.
Paper thin walls upstairs and a 12 yr old night owl.

Ive actually forgotten what bed sex is like to the point I'd feel like I was being kinky and naughty if we were in bed haha

WankingMonkey · 16/04/2017 14:57

I can understand your lack of enthusiasm after reading subsequent posts. Eugh the situation makes my skin crawl a little tbh, can't imagine DH sitting waiting for me to do chores and put kids to bed then immediately pawing at me and expecting sex. Thats not how a healthy relationship works at all.

ZilphasHatpin · 16/04/2017 14:58

Our DC sit and eat on it.

So does your DD levitate above your bed when she sleeps there?

TheNaze73 · 16/04/2017 15:00

Find somewhere else to do it, if it bothers you that much. Not seeing much wrong here

Pinkheart5915 · 16/04/2017 15:07

Nothing wrong with sofa sex, but then most places in This house we've had sex on tbh.

We've had sex on the table which we eat dinner at each night, we've had sex on the kitchen side we use the kitchen everyday. The stairs again us and our children use them daily. The rug in the living room is a favourite too

A sex pest dh however no thanks, I wouldn't want to shag a sex pest

coffeecoffeecoffeee · 16/04/2017 15:13

YABU - put it this way you 2 have sex in the same bed your DC sleeps in. Not really much of a difference there if they sit on the same sofa. Just put a blanket down if it really bothers you.

Bodicea · 16/04/2017 15:13

Just stick naice big throw on the sofa ( and have a spare should it need an emergency wash). We have one on at all times while we have littles as our sofa fabric can't be removed to wash.
