Mum died at 9:15 on a saturday. The timing of her death was, in itself, a bit odd. Dears Sis had been with her all night. DD and I had gone home. We returned at 8:30. DBIL turned up at 9:00. Sis always said that Mum waited until we all had some one to comfort us.

One week later, I was drinking my morning coffee and reading my newspaper. At 9:00 my door bell rang. I thought it a bit early fir callers, but went to the door. No one was there. As soon as I sat, door bell rang again. This went on four or five times. At 9:45, DD phones to ask how I am. I tell her about the phantom rings and asked that she fix it when she got home. DD remarked that Mum used to experience this.

I phoned DS later and told her what had happened. Ds, who believes in Woo (as did Mum) thinks it was Mum telling me off for not be living in Woo.

Me? I think it was my door bell malfunctioning. But if DS thinks it was Mum, so be it

Not sure I can follow the forest one...but an ex had a strange story that he still can't explain. He is one of the most non-woo people I know so I utterly believe him.

When he was a teenager he and a couple of friends tried using a ouija board. They were in a fairly renowned graveyard down in the south west (apologies I don't remember the name but we visited it together once and it was bleak and cold even in midday summer sun)

Nothing happened. They were three teenage boys so they were mucking around a bit. They had a glass on the board and each had a finger on it.

Then his friend started talking about his grandfather who'd just recently died. He started crying and got really upset.

The glass started moving. It started moving across the board really quickly. All the boys thought someone else was pushing it till they looked and saw the glass wasn't actually on the board anymore. It was sort of hovering.

They asked the board if they should leave. The glass moved to yes. Then shot off the board and smashed.

He said it was really strange but he didn't remember feeling scared. They picked up their stuff and left. But the minute they left the graveyard it was like stepping out of something. He described it as emerging out of water. As they crossed the graveyard threshold his stomach dropped and the fear took over and the three of them ran all the way home.

They never spoke of it again. And never did ouija again.

This happened yesterday. I'm still freaked out.

DH and I were playing Pokemon go looking round historical buildings, when we went into the grounds of a church, the oldest church in Leeds apparently. We went in through a gate on one side, and walked right round the building, before stopping about twenty feet from the other gate. A bloke walked past us, and went down the steps to the gate. DH and I followed a few seconds later, bloke nowhere to be seen. Nothing unusual here, except, the gate was locked, huge chain wrapped round it. No other way out unless you climbed up and over the six foot high gate/fence which would take several seconds, which said bloke didn't have.

honeyfull · 16/04/2017 20:38

I have no woo. And I think this sort of thing is all blx.

But..... I too have had the hand on my shoulder, as if in reassurance. A couple of months after Dad passed away. I missed him so much. That was lovely.

Even though I find it hard to believe it still. Maybe I imagined it.

woodhill · 16/04/2017 21:55

Was the forest one in Wiltshire. Interesting the spirit reacted to Jesus's name being spoken.

Laurapalmer90 · 16/04/2017 22:03

I love threads like these. I've read that forest one many times on other threads and it still gives me chills. So creepy.

A couple of my own.

This happened just a couple of weeks ago. I go to a fitness class at my local community centre and this one time I popped into the loo before class and as soon as I opened the door I felt a bad atmosphere. In the cubicle the feeling just kept getting worse. It was too quiet. I felt like there was something really evil in that bathroom or something bad had happened there. When I was washing my hands I felt like I was being watched. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I've never experienced anything like this before so very weird and scary.

This one happened when I was about 14. I don't know if it was supernatural but it was very odd and I've never found a rational explanation for it. I was walking to school and I had my gloves in my hands. I put one under my arm and pushed it into my body with my arm. I could actually feel it there under my arm. I put on one glove and reached under my arm for the other one and it had disappeared. In literally a few seconds, no more than ten. I looked everywhere for it, all on my person and I checked all my bags. Nothing. I walked up and down the road looking for it, I looked under cars and the entrance to a park nearby. I never found it and there was literally nowhere it could have disappeared. It couldn't even be that a dog or something ran off with it because I was the only person on the whole street. I also hadn't seen anyone come out of their houses or any doors slam so no-one could've taken it. After school I went back the same route and looked for it again. I also looked at home, there were only a few places where it could have been and it wasn't in any of them. I never found that glove. That is one of my weirdest experiences especially as I could actually feel that glove under my arm and it happened so quickly, literally it was there then seconds later, it was gone.

bbpp · 16/04/2017 22:33

HolditFinger I had pretty much that exact experience, but from the other side!

I was about 16 and my friend had stayed over. She'd fallen asleep, started snoring, and I've always been a bit of an insomniac so I was wide awake and annoyed at the noises. I turned my head away to face the wall, the snoring stopped.

I turned my head back round and she was at the other side of my very long, narrow bedroom. I got up on my elbow whilst I stared at her in confusion as she started going through my bags, and drawers, and stared in the mirror. After a few seconds I began to say "What are you doing?" and she span round in a panic, eyes wide, staring at me. Then I heard a groan next to me and looked down to see my friend in bed, looked back up, and the room was empty.

Vonnie2016 · 16/04/2017 22:38

Okay I have one.
My Dad used to live in a 2 up 2 down when I was growing up, he moved there just after my parents divorced.
It turned out that he bought it from his Great Aunt who had bought it from my Great Grandad. My Great grandad had owned the house from being new so it had only ever belonged in the family. My gran grew up there.
Anyway, I started going to the house every other weekend from the age of six and the house terrified me. After years and years of asking my dad if anyone had ever died in the house and him telling me that there was no such thing as ghosts etc.
At the age of 16 I was sat having breakfast with him and my step mum, I popped up to the loo and felt that horrendous uneasy feeling I always got when going into the bathroom.
So I went down stairs and said 'right you have to tell me has someone died in this house'. And my dad just said 'yes, why what have you seen?'
I knew then that stuff had been happening for years and he hasn't wanted to frighten me as he was worried I wouldn't visit him again.
He then spent about 2 hours telling me about all the things that had happened from voices to smells of pipe smoke, loads of stuff. And apparently every person who had ever visited had said they had either seen or heard something.
Even my Great Aunt (who sold him the house) had asked of he had seen 'Frank'.
Frank was my Great grandad and had had a heart attack and died at the top of the original stair case, which was now the entrance to the bathroom!
A few years later, I was coming into the back yard it was night time and the light was on In the kitchen and I saw my step mum standing at the sink in front of the window. I waved and yelled hi and she gave me a big smile and as I popped my head around the door to say hi, she wasn't there.
I shouted her name and she was upstairs, she had just had an operation on her knee so couldn't move quickly and to be fair without the operation it would've been impossible for her to move that quickly.
She shouted down to me and she came downstairs as she said she could hear the panic in my voice. I had to sit down and apparently I went green.
They asked me what happened and I said I had waved at a lady with long red hair (just like my step mum) She had leaned forward at the sink and smiled at me. It was clear as day! My Dad got some photos out and said 'was this her?' And he showed me a photo of a lady, who was the lady I saw. It was my Great grandmother she had died in child birth in her mid thirties and my step mum was around her age at the time.
In all the years I spent at that house this was the only thing I ever saw, but my dad (who does not do ghosts one bit) saw and heard many many things.
He called me a few years after my sighting and just said I saw her.
They sold the house about ten years ago and I often think about the woman who bought it.
It was a very spooky house, and everyone who has visited has a story to tell even my teenage boyfriend who visited with me once saw something. It was crazy!! I could tell so many stories about this house but I would be hear until Christmas! 😁

deaddeadgood · 16/04/2017 22:43

Jesus bbpp what on earth was that you saw! That's proper creeped me out

bbpp · 16/04/2017 23:01

When we discussed it the next day, deaddeadgood, we came to the conclusion it was her 'spirit' going on what she would have experienced as a dream, and I accidentally witnessed it as it had thought I were asleep.

That was the only thing we could come up with that didn't terrify us Grin

NabobsFromNobHill · 16/04/2017 23:38

Jesus bbpp what on earth was that you saw! That's proper creeped me out

It's called a dream or a hallucination. HTH.

ophiotaurus · 17/04/2017 00:03

bbpp that gave me chills. Did you tell your friend what happened?
Why am I reading this before bed?! 😱

TitaniasCloset · 17/04/2017 03:24

That forest story should be made into a film.

Muldjewangk · 17/04/2017 07:46

bbpp your story reminds me of an experience I had with my elderly mother who was unwell and staying with me. Mum was settled in bed one night, wearing a pink nightie, she said she would just read her book for awhile. I went to my bedroom and hopped into bed, I still had my elbow leaning on my pillow and my hand propping up my head and was just settling down to watch the television. Then I saw my mother In my bedroom. She was walking very, very slowly towards me, between my bed and a long thin day bed which was placed under the window. Mum was wearing the clothes she had worn that day and was so close I could have put my hand out and touched her, her face was etched in pain, and I could clearly see the flower print on her blouse. My first thought was she must have needed me and I didn't hear her call me. I looked towards the door and it was shut. I looked back at mum and realised she was walking through the day bed, then suddenly suddenly she was gone. I thought she must have died and I was so frightened I couldn't go and check on her. Even once going to the toilet in the middle of the night and going straight back to bed. Blush

My mother was fine the next morning, I didn't tell her about my experience. She died later that year.

deaddeadgood · 17/04/2017 08:03

Think you're on the wrong thread nabobs

Frouby · 17/04/2017 08:06

Read the forest one ages ago. It's fucking terrifying.

FruSkogKattOla · 17/04/2017 08:16

woodhill, IIRC (I haven't re-read the other thread) it was in Savernake Forest, which, yes, is in Wiltshire.

MaudeandHarold · 17/04/2017 08:20

My daughter was visited by an outline of a man in her university room. Tall black, wearing a deerstalker hat. My first response was "sleep paralysis love".....As it's a family trait. But it was atypical of sleep paralysis. I also wondered if she hadn't locked her door properly, but she was adamant. We laughed it off until it happened another night, and the girl in the flat above her shared a very similar experience voluntarily. The uni is built on an old golf course, so we decided it was probably a golfer looking for his ball....Smile

woodhill · 17/04/2017 08:28

Yes I've driven up there on route home, near Marlborough.

DoingTheBestICan · 17/04/2017 08:28

I've told this one before but I'll retell it,

Years ago my mum and myself were at her friend's house which was around the corner and up a hill from our house. In the Mirror newspaper they had cut outs of tarot cards, being at a loose end we decided to cut them out and read our cards.

We did this for an hr or so, then my mum and myself decided to go home - nothing weird had happened at all whilst doing the tarot cards - as we started walking down the hill we could hear footsteps behind us.

We walked a bit quicker and so did the steps. they sounded like old fashioned brogues with the metal tips on, or hooves, you know that quick sharp click?

We were literally seconds away from home, we put the key in the door, still hearing the steps behind us - reader there was no one there!

As we opened the door we threw ourselves inside and went to shut the door, something or someone was trying to push it open. I swear this was true, we placed a crucifix by the front door and it is still there now.

MaudeandHarold · 17/04/2017 08:45

My ghosty woo contributions-disclaimer- I tell everyone i don't really believe in ghosts, but secretly do Grin
I used to live in a city centre, but the "old part" as it's known. A Georgian stately home and gardens was two minutes walk from my flat. Pretty much used it weekly to entertain small daughter (museum and grounds, tiny caffeine). We were looking in the Victorian nursery one day, alone, and someone blew in my ear. Daughter trilled with laughter and the rocking horse faintly rocked.....Cue swift exit. On another visit i definitely felt someone behind me in a nother room. That sense of someone being behind and you need to move. I didn't feel frightened. But i do now hahahaha

For those who are trying to find the forest story Nickbutnosaint reposted it yesterday at 1139. Second post down on page 3.
