If you're a woman, do you mind being called "Mate" or "Man", "Dude" etc.? As in "Yeah man/dude, go for it".

There's a youngish guy in my office who frequently addresses the women (including me) like this, and I don't know why exactly but I really dislike it.

Seriously, I was like this ---> Shock.

The crazy thing was when the volunteer apologised and said that she would remember not to call her "love" the next time she served her, the customer said that she was from the other side of the country and just visiting so she wasn't ever likely to be in there again anyway. In which case why did she bother pulling her up on it, why couldn't she just let it go!?

I call people 'pet' rather than love and my kids get 'petlamb' but I'm from the North East

Lots of threads about this kind of thing, ''do you mind being called''

Princess, for young girls
Girls for women
Man, for females

No. I don't mind being referred to anything that is not meant in a derogatory way

Can't say I'm arsed. I say mate/pal quite a lot (to people I'm familiar with mainly) and I'm a woman.

I don't like it. I had a male boss who would sometimes say "good man!" to me. I used to cringe every time.
